It was raining, no not raining. Pouring. The rain never seemed to end, black clouds covered the sky like a blanket. So, Vincent found himself in the mall's arcade. He would have been enjoying himself if the Red Ghost didn't keep eating Pac-man right before he beat the level.
So with a half muttered threat towards said pixelated ghost, Vinny stuck in another quarter and continued to play. Stupid game. If he died again, he'd find another one to play.

A mumble came from a game not too far from the Pac-Man game. 'Zuba's eyes were locked on the screen, so she didn't see her friend standing just a few feet away. She lifted the plastic gun, aiming at the screen. She was completely immersed in the game; she was a special forces agent, trapped in a laboratory filled with zombies. She was definately in her comfort zone; first person shooters were her specialty. Not that she'd actually admit as much. Despite the score on the screen, she was sure she had to be doing poorly. She had to be.

The game over song started to play. Vinny glared at the screen, and turned his back on it, as if it was someone he'd just had a fight with. He noticed a familar face, and walked over to her. "Hi 'Zuba!" He said, not paying attention to what she was playing, or he would have been more polite and waited for her to get game over.
"How are you?" He asked. "Are you winning?" He looked at the score on the screen. "Wow, you're good. Bet that's the new highscore."

"Hey." 'Zuba murmured, not seeing who it was. She had to focus... She shot a zombie's head off, and was aiming for another when the the other questions reached her ears. "'M fine. Doubt it." Each sentence was accented by a shot. "Not good." she said, shaking her head. And that's when the zombie struck, as if waiting for a gap in her attention. A flashing "Game Over" spread across the screen, and a sigh came from the girl. She turned to look at her visitor, then smiled lightly. "Grew." she said, a little shocked. It'd been a while since she'd seen the boy.

Vinny smiled at his friend, ignoring the flashing Game Over. He always hated when the screen came on, even when he wasn't the one playing. "Yeah, I did." He muttered, looking down at his feet modestly. He was around her height now, and it was awkward for him to be able to see over her head. He'd always seen 'Zuba as big.
"Do you want to play a two player game?" He asked, gesturing to the air hockey table and the Galactica games.

"Look nice." the spawn offered, looking up to meet her friend's gaze. It was odd; she was so used to him being smaller than her. This would definitely take some getting used to. "Sure." 'Zuba said, smiling. She looked over the games, tapping her chin with her finger. "That one?" she inquired, her tone ever-so-innocent as she pointed at one of the multi-player first-person shooter games.

Vinny blushed and shook his head. Lately he'd been more accepting of compliments, but not ones like that. "No I don't." He muttered. "Sure." Vinny agreed, with a nod towards the game. Next game would be his pick.
He hadn't played many first person shooter games. He knew he wasn't good at them (He wasn't good at much of anything--if anything at all.)

"You do." 'Zuba said, which was as far as she was pushing the issue. She smiled lightly, turning to make her way to the game. A part of her felt bad; she knew she was skilled at these games. The rest of her kept reminding her that Vincent had to be better at video games then her. She stepped onto the platform, taking note of where the direction buttons were near her feet. She smiled, waiting for her victim friend to step up onto his platform.

Vinny shook his head, and walked over to the game. He took the gun in his hand, and inserted fifty cents. "Ready?" He asked, putting his hand on the start button, but not quite pressing it.
He was somewhat worried, these games were always hard for him, which was why he tended to avoid them--they always made him feel worse then he had before he'd played. He wondered if 'Zuba was as good at video games as Joshua was.

'Zuba nodded. "Ready." she said softly, smiling. Since he paid this time, she'd pay for the next one. She noticed his worry, and a small pang of guilt hit her. Well, it was just a game, so it didn't matter if she won, right? He deserved to win, anyways. So, she'd let him win. That way, he'd feel better. She nodded once as she decided, her eyes locking on the screen.

Though 'Zuba didn't know it, Vinny was just as determined to lose. He would let her win, after all, she was a girl. A very pretty girl, even if they were half siblings. He felt awkward having someone so pretty as a sister.
Vinny's eyes locked on the screen, and he pressed the start button quickly. He pulled the trigger on the gun, and started intentionally missing the zombies they were supposed to be killing.

'Zuba would have objected had she'd known what Vincent thought of her. She focused on the game, firing randomly to make it seem like she was trying. She put her character in the direct path of the zombies, instead of dodging like she usually did. She'd be the one to lose, she was sure of it!

Vinny kept his character still, still shooting in random directions. Now he was just waiting for the zombie to come and get him. He was like being a sitting duck, the bait that would actually be caught. He cast a look over to 'Zuba, she didn't seem to be trying very hard. He would just have to try harder at losing!
He knew one thing--pushing the humility side of him away--he would be the best. The best at losing.

'Zuba glanced over at Vinny's screen. What on Gaia was he doing!?! She couldn't win! Her character was suddenly running across the screen, right towards the zombies. Vincent was going to win whether he like it or not! Of course, it was hard for 'Zuba to quell the urge to fire directly at them, to defend her character, but she was managing to. It was a painful process for her, though, to see her digital character suffer so....

Vinny's screen suddenly went black, and the game over song started to play. Strangely, to Vinny's ears it sounded slightly echoed. But he'd done it, he'd lost. He grinned. This was the first game he'd ever played with the intention of losing.
"Want to play something else?" He asked, looking to 'Zuba--of course, he wasn't looking at her screen.
