No, no , no! She wasn't lost! Nope, not at all! That's what she kept telling herself at least.

Neria trotted happily through the dark, thick treed area. She had wandered into the forest in hope to attain company with various animals that usually came singing along with her 'humming' it was a little high pitched but no matter what tune she whistled, they always came to join her! It was a way of keeping company since her usual enthusiasm seemed to ward away strangers of the same kind. Odd really, she never agreed there was anything wrong with her.

"Oh, where are you my little friends?" She asked, her voice came out a little distressed and that was unusual to the normal bubbly nature. She had been walking, to trotting, to stumbling then finally finding her feet again, walking for hours it seemed; The thin white legs were beginning to ache and still no sign of life in the ever darker growing forest.

......What's this?
Glowing red eyes watched from the dark as an oblivious Soquili made it's way through the darkness that was his forest. From first glance he knew that she wasn't one of the many creatures that belonged here with him. She was a outsider, a pure delicate soul that did not have a place in this woods.
She could get hurt...
The faint clenching of his chest at such a thought caused him to take a step forward. She was heading the wrong way, going deeper into the forest. If he was not the only one watching her, any of her steps could very well be her last.
But what way should he go about making her turn and leave? He could whisper, causing paranoia. Surely she would turn and leave then? But what if she ran? She would probably trip and hurt herself. Then what?
It was just a risk that he'd have to take. Stepping through the shadows, Sylar got close enough to the female so he was almost touching her side. In this darkness, she wouldn't be able to see him. His dark coat would keep him hidden.
"Turn baaack... Stop.....Beware of what lies ahead.....Dont go....."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 16, 2009 12:05 pm

The faint whisper caught twitching ears, swiveling at the ghostly echoed sound. It was 'extremely close' close enough for the mare to know she was in the whispering creatures view. Slowly, she edged back looking from left to right, oblivious to the danger that might have followed this 'strangers warning'.

"W-who's there?" Neria questioned, searching the surrounding foliage and shadows with wandering eyes however in their depth only darkness continued to blanket the eerie presence, harmful or not she was a little too stubborn to run and she knew if she was to turn the other way the more lost she would become. She was hopeless like that but never one to admit these 'faults'.

The voice still rang shadily, crawling shivers along her spine, allowing the perked ears to fall back, but once again stepping forwards drawn by the mysterious voice.

Why isn't she stopping?
The corner's of Sylar's lips turned down as the lost female continued forward without heeding his warnings. Did she have a death wish? No way could one be so foolish. Sylar's red eyes narrowed in confusion as he followed her step by step. She wasn't afraid of his whispers, what would make her turn back?

I could always show myself to her...What a frightening appearance I must have. That always sends them screaming back to safety.
Revealing himself to others was always a last resort of his. It hurt every time. He disliked seeing fear in others eyes because of his outward appearance. Living in total darkness all of his life had never granted him the chance to see what was so scary about himself. He imagined himself to be a hideous mutant, maybe with some weird tribal design? All he knew of was the ghostly scarf that hung around his neck, his wispy dark tail, and his most prominent feature, his glowing red eyes. His eyes were usually enough to make a Soquili scared out of their wits.
Picking up his pace, Sylar stomped his hooves to announce his presents besides the stubborn female. He'd show himself to her, then chase her from the forest.

'where are you..?'
The presence was still close, close enough to spread a cold chill along the elegant wings tucked neatly at either sides. It baffled her more that this creature could see her but she couldn't see it even by being so close. She stopped silently in her tracks, closing the two wondrous eyes whilst her ears still flicked, turned and scoped out for any sounds that crafted near her.

Neria jumped at the stomp letting out a small shriek, eyes opening widely and tail swishing numbly turning her body smoothly to the side where the 'stomping' came from. Ears perked, the only thing that was there was... Two red, piercing eyes. She gasped, stepping back once before the thought of her relative dug deep in the back of her mind. She shook her head slowly, allowing the blue, shadow caressed eyes to stare at his own.

'No. Never judge a book by its cover.. If it was going to hurt me it would have done it by now.'

" Who are you?" She asked sweetly pushing her muzzle closer towards him curiously.

Sylar watched expectantly as she reacted to what little she saw of him. He could tell that she was frightened, her instincts were probably telling her to book it....So why wasn't she running? The way she started at him, straight into his eyes sent shivers down his spine. He shifted his posture slightly, trying to shift her attention away from his eyes. Not one Soquili had ever taken the time to look him over. It made him feel bare, like she was trying to see into his soul. What would she find?

And then she asked a simple question, one that he hadn't ever been asked before.
Who was he?
He had given himself a name. A name that had once been another's. He remembered that night like any other. There was a lone lost filly running through the woods, calling out a name over and over again. Sylar. Sylar. Sylar.
He never knew who that Sylar was. He didn't get the chance to ask. Before he had gotten the chance to quiet the lost filly down and guide her back to safety, a Skinwalker came out of no where and struck, taking the filly down with one swift swipe. He wouldn't have stood a chance in battle with one of their kind. So he had left, with something lost and something gained. A life, a name.
It had been one his worst memories, from living in the darkness. It was why he always tried his hardest to guide the pure souls back to their homes in the fields. They didn't belong here. She doesn't belong here.

Sylar cleared his throat. He hadn't spoken at a normal volume in a long time. "My name is Sylar," Even then, his voice still came out as a soft whisper. Sylar tilted his head slightly. He didn't know what to do in a situation like this.

The creature was infact just like her in some odd way, but instead of frightening it was strangely comforting and refreshing. The soft echo of his voice swilled the air, the voice of another, company. How long had he been here, alone? Was he like her.. At a loss of others words? If so, then maybe this meeting was awkward but Neria shed a happy little smile, now scanning his revealed features much more loosely.

He was a mutant, something that others on the very rare meetings she had been blessed with had called her. He was no threat. He had a name, a name is an existence and an acknowledgment.

She chuckled briefly "Sylar? what a nice name you have. I'm Neria, its nice to meet you" She began, tilting away from eye contact to look over the dark material wrapped swiftly along his body. It was beautiful, something she had never witnessed before. The two large headwings spread out slightly, stretching from their cramped position as her eyes jumped back to his. Something about them seemed almost lonely, hurt but luring. 'I wonder why..?'

She thinks that my name is nice? Sylar felt his face warm awkwardly at the thought.
"Neria?" Sylar tested out the young female's name on his tongue. It was a very pleasant name, one that he enjoyed more than his own. It was a name that he would never forget, that was for sure. He rarely came upon such knowledge, of a simple name. It made him feel...real. This is what normal Soquili do, right? Exchange names and greetings?
What next?
Sylar's ears fell back with his confusion. He had never been presented with an opportunity to get to talk to another Soquili. His heart was pushing metaphorically pushing him forwards to say something, anything, to keep her attention.
"Thank you? It is nice to meet you too." He was almost confused by his own words. Formalities are a must in conversation, right? he asked himself, knowing by now that there would be no answer.
Shifting his eyes away from her own, he let himself get a look at her. There was only so much that he could see through the darkness that the forest covered them in. Only small splotches of moonlight peeked through the tangled mass of branches that covered the sky high above them. Her wings amazed him. Their light, beautiful feathers looked soft to the touch and he restrained himself from the urge to brush against them. The only creatures that he had seen with wings, had been the Kalona. Their scaly wings had done no good for other creatures. They used them as weapons, tools for the kill. What purpose did her wings serve?
His eyes moved down to her tail and then flickered up to the horn at the center of her forehead. She has Uni blood in her?
Sylar's brow furrowed. He needed to get her out of here as soon as possible. Uni blood was supposed to be the most delicious and pure of all. Formalities pushed aside for the time being, Sylar remembered why he had appeared to Neria in the first place. "You shouldn't be here." He spoke, his eyes narrowing slightly, enough to emit that he was serious. He didn't want to scare her, but she needed to know the danger that she was in. Getting her away from here was more important then his own social life. (Or lack there of). "Please, follow me." His voice was still a soft hum. He couldn't use a hardened tone on someone so pure. Sylar turned away from her and took a step in the direction that would lead them out of the darkness that was this forest.

(He's assuming that she is completely innocent because of the Uni blood in her, so please forgive him~ ^_^;)

The forest was growing darker as time moved forwards, allowing the center of Sylar's attention, her long cyan unihorn, to glow. The light reached out to many objects the tree's, plant life even the shadiest of little creatures that surrounded them on a much smaller scale. Neria wondered why he was in such a hurry, why he didn't want her to be there. Did he really not like her.. Or was he just concerned? 'how strange' the thought flickered once or twice, after deciding following him would be a good idea.. Although, they had just met. She didn't want to leave just yet what was she to do to get his attention?

"Sylar?" She spoke softly, the hums and cawing echo's were starting to send unearthly shivers down her spine. Sounds sputtered close, so close she stumbled to the side, then raced to catch up with him. Keeping deadly near his side so the tips of her wings were like a tickle against his dark coat. Here she felt safer for some reason, having the knowledge that he was familiar with these parts but it also shifted sadness into the pure blue pools. "Aren't you... Lonely here? All by yourself?" one was only to assume when he had chosen to show himself, not only that his awkward speech and actions just gave that feel to the air. Maybe he would tell her more about himself eventually? She smiled when looking at him, waiting to hear that gentle echo of his voice that was unbelievably soothing.

(lol, its ok. She really is that innocent xD)

Sylar paused in step when she called his name, his head shifting in her direction as to encourage her to speak. He heard her stumble and then watched as she raced to his side. Red eyes blinked at the proximity of their bodies. Wasn't she afraid to be so close to him?
Sylar almost jumped when he felt a soft caress of her feathers against his side. His attention shifted off of her wings, to her eyes. Why did they carry so much sadness? Sylar opened his mouth to ask her what was wrong when she spoke up.

Was he lonely? Of course. It was the one thing that he was most familiar with. Loneliness. He had never had a companion in all of his life. The small, lurking creatures of the forest never paid him any mind, and the bigger ones were always carried too much of a risk. But then, he had never really tried making friends. It's not that anybody would accept him anyways. He belonged here, in the dark.
You still need to answer her...
Sylar glanced back at the female that walked close to his side. He hesitated for a moment before answering, "I am. Lonely, but never alone."
There were too many lurking scavengers in the darkness for one to make it around for so long alone. He could always feel their presents, waiting for him to fall.
"What about you? Do you have anyone?" Sylar asked, genuinely curious.

"Ha, define having someone?" It was almost a definite reaction to his curiosity, wandering eyes just taking to the small distant path that had been laid out for only him to know of. A blush caressed the pure whites of her cheeks, and she quickly turned to look into his own, piercing red eyes. She never had a special someone, she had Mum.. Daddy.. Alex, Tere but even with them, the two leggers and the small usida who joined them from time to time, it all felt so.. Detached. A sigh fixed inwardly and it was then, her spirits was lifted at the truth, and excelent honesty that this stallion spoke with it was stunning, really. 'oh right! Give him a proper answer.. Neria, your being so rude and he's being so trusting'

"Well!" She chuckled. "I don't have a 'special someone, yet.. I have a family, but not many friends except a few small animals.." She hoped that it didn't sound weird, but it was the truth.
Aye, it was those eerie presences that made sure that the closeness of their bodies was a must, that etch of safety had to be there... Villians around every corner waiting o obtain a wandering lost princess in wait for a pr- 'wait.. A p-prince. S-saving me? Sylar..?'

The blush only reddened even further, but it was true it was a story plot situation! The thud of a beating heart throbbed dangerously at even the slightest thought of finding a prince, now he was leading the way out of this forest. "I don't want you to be lonely. Your so nice, you deserve so much more than being stuck alone in this dark scary forest. Your not a villain..Y-you really are a prince"

A slight paused swilled the air letting whistles of crickets, and silent howls conquer between them as Neria stopped in her tracks, simply... Smiling warmly at the mysterious stallion.

"A special someone?" Sylar wondered out loud. What did that mean? Did she mean like a close companion? He always thought that creature's families were the only one's that they were close to. But what would it mean to be special. More so than anyone else? And why didn't Neria have one?
Sylar zoned out, lost in his thoughts as he tried to figure out why no one would be special to the Alicorn that walked close to his side. After almost tripping on an overgrown root sticking out of the ground, Sylar began focusing on his original task at hand. It would be a great mistake to lose focus now, just in case something was out there watching them.
It would be easier just to ask...
"What would somebody have to do to become special to you?" he asked her, looking at her curiously. To his surprise and bewilderment, when he gazed at her face, lightened by the moonlight that fell through the branches, he found her face tinted with a dark red blush. That wasn't there before? Had he said something wrong?
He waited for her to continue, had she been saying something before when he was thinking? Did she call me a prince...? What the heck is that? Sylar could tell by the soft smile on her lips that she wasn't insulting him... more like giving him a complement. "Th- Thank you..." Sylar stuttered as a reply.
He felt something weird in his chest. Almost like... fluttering.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 3:30 pm

Neria was taken back by Sylar's question. She hadn't ever really gave it much of a thought of what someone would have to do to become her prince.. She thought, it would just happen. 'Thats how its meant to be... Right?' Her eyes stared once more into his glowing red ones, frozen however filled with a delicate warmth she had never quite felt before. She felt as though she was melting into them.
"I..." She whispered gently, still unsure how to answer. "I think... " Still continuing to trail on Neria thought about their conversation so far, about being lonely and how Sylar had never had anyone by his side as much as he deserved to have someone special, how everyone was warded away from her because of who she was, the way she looked. Then it hit and her long, silky headwings lowered by her face and a smile, coming straight from the heart answered his question.

"They would have to accept me. For me, for who I am... Want to be with me, to keep me company so I don't get lonely, so I could do the same for them.. So that when we needed each other. We would be there. They would keep me safe and let me do the same... And most of all, they'd have to love me."

The atmosphere had a mellow and understanding air to it, the warmth on her coat now radiating in a soft, bewildered pink as her gaze continued to be centered in his eyes. Her whole body felt at ease, like they were meant to be there, at that moment. Just them two.

"Your w-welcome.. Sylar."

( Further edit to make it a little more 'Neria-like' ) After the 'welcome' Neria realized the mood was really intense, and decided to lighten it up. "Anyway!" She chuckled nervously trotting past him a few steps and almost stumbling over her feet in the hurry but she regained balance easy enough with the help of the wings, at either of her sides. "We should get a move on, don't want the monsters to get us!" She chuckled, stopping and peering back at the stallion. "Hehe, slow poke." She teased playfully.

Sylar watched Neria closely as she thought of an answer to his question. He watched as different emotions crossed over her features. He wanted to know what each of them meant. The way that she was staring back at him made a shiver go down his spine. Warmth seemed to be radiating from her eyes, making his stomach flip. Never before had he thought that he'd be in a position like this. The feeling of being on edge, waiting for her to speak.
What would he have to do to become special to her?
He felt selfish for wanting to become someone that she would consider special. He had only just met her, the first person to actually acknowledge his existence with more than a terrified scream. He wanted to keep what he had found in her. He had longed for companionship throughout his whole lonely life.
Now, it was as though he actually had a chance to find it with her. She was the first to accept him, his frightening appearance and somewhat awkward attempts at conversation, and she was still here.
Thoughts of her leaving made something inside of him ache. But there was no way that he could keep her in a forest like this one. It was far too dangerous. He'd rather know that she was safe, away from him, then to have her get hurt while under his care.

When she finally spoke, he listened intently. He watched as the wings on her head moved and a beautiful smile that seemed to shake his entire being grew on her lips.
As she continued, Sylar held his breath, taking in everything that she was saying. When she was done, he took a moment to gather and think about her 'conditions'.
He understood why she would want acceptance. That was the first step to getting to really know someone, but then why wouldn't someone accept Neria? There was nothing wrong with her! In fact, Sylar was sure that she was the purest, most beautiful creature that he had ever laid his bright red eyes upon.
Sylar knew that he could fill the second 'condition', easily, if she would have him. He already wanted to be with her, never to leave her side and protect her to the death. If she'd let him, he'd make sure that she would never feel the cold sting of loneliness that he had to live with his whole life.
But that last thing that she said... It frustrated him. What did love mean? He knew that he could do everything else, he already had.

Neria suddenly broke him from his thoughts when she thanked him.
He watched when she started moving past him, and moved to keep up. She wasn't going to start to lead now, the path was still dark and it would still be best if he was the one to move first. His eyes allowed him to easily see through the dark, and he didn't want her to hurt herself by running into a tree or tripping- Sylar moved quickly as Neria tripped, ready to catch her if she was to fall. Much to his relief she caught herself before he would have had to step in. Sylar watched in half shock as she joked with him about being slow and waited for him to catch up.
Slow poke?
Sylar's eye brow raised as he walked past her to take lead again. "Yes, it would not be ideal to run into a monster. The faster you're out of here, the better for both of us." Sylar didn't mean it in a cruel way, he just couldn't stand the thought of them being attacked. She was in danger right now, and as soon as they were out of this forest, and she was safe, he hoped that she would stay long enough for him to talk with her about all of this. He knew that he'd have to tell her what he though about being with her. If he didn't, he'd regret it for the rest of his lonely existence.

Smiling softly back at Neria, Sylar tossed his head before starting down the path that would lead them out of here. "Let us go then?"
While they walked, one question lingered in Sylar's mind from earlier.
Knowing that it would probably best just to ask Neria about the thing that confused him, Sylar spoke after hesitating, "What is love?".

(Haha~ I couldn't help it. >w> An uber long reply for not getting to it earlier!)
