Who: Xan, Domevlo, Rivener, Aphi When: Early afternoon Where: The Mall Weather: Clear skies, cool breeze What: Domo demands to ride an escalator among other things. Meeting with Rivener! <3
The mall, a wonderful place for people to come and shop for almost anything they require. Home furnishings, personal wear, sports apparel, cars, household goods and much more could be found in a mall. This was learned from what is called a "telovisheon", Domevlo had found out. After pointing to such a place on the picture box he demanded to learn more. Thankfully, Xan was in need of a few things and wasn't yet ready to leave the lead frei at home on his own. Not until he was better learned about home appliances, after all blowing up the microwave was not such a hard thing to do when placing silverware in the box.
"Okay, this is the mall. What we do here is shop. Do you understand?" Xan tried explaining smiling softly to the frei. Domo was busy looking around the large building. People were floating up and down from the top levels on a strange machine thing, and there was another that had a see through wall moving up and down too. "What that?" He pointed.
"Oh that's called an elevator. It goes up and down when you push the button." The cowboy explained. Domo nodded but wasn't quite sure he understood just yet. His amber orbs moved from the elevator to a set of stairs that looked to be moving. "What that?" Again Xan did his best to explain. "An escalator. You stand on the stairs and they move up on their own." Nodding the lead frei watched curiously. "We go." He pointed to the escalator wanting a closer look. Watching the people getting on and off was interesting but now he wanted a turn. As each person began walking they stopped on a platform and let the stairs move them up or down. Well there was a problem...
"What's wrong, Domevlo?"
"No things."
"Huh?"
"Things!" He pointed to Xan's legs and then the others. "No things." This was a problem but how did Raevan's use everyday man-made objects that were intended for feet and legs? Domo did not have these things; Xan wondered if the frei would be harmed by trying. "Maybe we shouldn't..." He offered but Domevlo was already floating near the thing. A line of people were starting to build up, most grumbling at the frei others curious of what the creature was. Xan could only stand by slightly embarrassed as he slipped his stetson over his face to shield the blush. "Domevlo, move aside so the others can get on."
"No. Domeh'lo go. You wait!" He turned glaring at the line. "You wait!" With that he turned to the escalator, determined to figure this thing out.

Rivener had intended to go to the mall on his own; he didn't need Aphismet along all the time, after all. Besides, it was such a short errand. He was only going to go to the camera store and have a few pictures made into posters; he just dropped off the CD with the images on it, and in a few hours the posters would be printed. Riv could hang out in the food court, enjoying the light from the sun-roof in the meantime. He liked the waiting, it was quiet, peaceful, and lots of people stared at him when he sat there looking casual. Not that he'd ever admit out loud how much he liked the attention, of course.
But no, this time Aphismet had insisted on coming. He had things to buy too, after all. He needed new clothes, as some of his shirts were old and worn. Really, Rivener figured his guardian could use his opinion on picking new things; that way he couldn't possibly come home with another ugly t-shirt that proudly declared him to be a "BUM".
So far their trip had been productive. Riv had dropped off his CD first, and that had been an hour ago. They'd been to one clothing store and Aphi had sighed and let Rivener order him around and make him try a metric ton of different pants. The Sigel was rather obsessed with the article of clothing meant for legs, as it was something he couldn't buy for himself just yet. He could live vicariously through the white-haired chef instead. After all those test-runs of pants, Aphi had only purchased two. He carried it easily as the pair made their way to the escalator to head down to the first floor for a look at Rivener's favorite shirt place.
"I hope you're not going to be making me try a million things. There's no need to be so picky, it's just to wear at home!" Aphi protested.
"Yeah, well, what if Alex sleeps over someday? You're going to hang out at home with a silly-looking shirt?"
Aphismet spluttered and blushed to his ears. "S-sleep over?! We haven't even been on our DATE yet!"
"Still, my point is you should look good because you never really kn-... Holy crap. Are you seeing what I'm seeing?!" Rivener stopped dead in his tracks as he glanced over the side of the rail that overlooked the lower floor. They were approaching the escalator, and right there below them was... Gage's twin, or something!
Aphismet leaned closer and looked over the side, brown eyes widening. "Th-that can't be him. It's all different. ...Right?"
Frowning defiantly, Rivener made his way over to the stairs and shouldered his way past the people coming off the stairs, standing in front of the escalator with arms crossed. The flow of pedestrians soon stopped as Domevlo stalled it below, but Rivener remained where he was. He waited with a stern look on his face for this... this imposter to show up and explain himself. Aphismet struggled to catch up, apologizing as he nudged his way past the throng.

Alright this was getting out of hand. People were growing more impatient as Domevlo continued eying the escalator curiously. How was he supposed to do this with out those "things" that his guardian and others had. He couldn't figure it out but while he was stuck on that idea, Xan chose that moment to place gentle hands on the lead frei's shoulders and usher him onto the platform. Soon they were both moving up the stairs the sea of people eager to get on; some even cheering for the break in traffic.
As the two moved up toward the top they were not aware of the figure standing with a stern expression in their way. By the time he did look up, Domo caught sight of yet another like himself. Slender fingers jutted out pointing at Rivener just as he moved from the escalator to solid ground; toppling just a little at the unease. "Like me." He pointed out snagging his guardian's attention. "Look!"
"Yes, Domevlo I'm looking..." Xan informed with a gruff snort. His nerves were wearing thin already but he wasn't upset at the frei just the shoving people behind them as they got of pushing past. Moving to a safer distance his attention was now fully on Rivener and his companion. "Um.. hello." Xan offered curious why the second time with running into these Raevan's they held that odd annoyed, painful or shocked look.

Rivener floated backwards far enough to allow the pair (the white-haired cowboy was presumably this Raevan's guardian) to step out of the way of the flow of traffic, who'd seemed very eager to get moving once this "Domevlo" stepped onto the stairs. The gray-skinned frei had no apparent idea who Rivener was, killing instantly the "Is this Gage?" question. Instead, this Raevan seemed to be a newborn! Short-word-vocabulary, amazement at run-of-the-mill things like escalators, excitement at finding other Raevans...
A dark eyebrow curved up over a ruby eye, the Scorpion putting two and two together. His brain was wracking itself for anything about Gage, trying to remember what the stars might have said...
Rivener still stood, quiet and arms crossed, by the time Aphismet caught up to the trio (which wasn't that long after, really). The chef blinked to find a similar-haired man standing near the pale Gage-lookalike. It was so rare to find a young man with white hair. Instantly, for no better reason than this, Aphismet found himself rather liking the green-eyed guardian.
"Ah, sorry, uh... H-hello, I'm Aphismet. This is Rivener." Aphi offered Xan his hand to shake, as well as a friendly smile.
"Domevlo, yes?..." Rivener's first words were slow, contemplative. Things were adding up. The Stars had said something about this. Or maybe they hadn't and Riv was grasping at straws. Still, it could have been about this. It all depended on knowing what this new frei was made of, but that wasn't really a question you just ASKED. Especially if this cowboy was the type who didn't tell his ward his origins.
Ah well. Until he learned what this Raevan was made of, there was no way Rivener would be able to tell if his theory was correct. For now, he could only try to be friendly enough to get the opportunity to learn. Offering his best dashing smile, Riv offered his hand similar to Aphismet. "Domevlo. I'm Rivener."

Xan sighed in relief after receiving the warm welcome from Aphismet. Reaching out to shake his hand he smiled, tiping his hat in conjuction of the hand shake. "Nice to meet'cha, names Thanatos, just call me Xan. This here is Domevlo." He interjected toward the lead frei who was busy staring at Rivener suspiciously. With a soft chuckle, Xan nudged the young frei. "Where's you're manners say hello."
Domevlo gave an odd exhale of breath before looking at the hand Rivener had offered. Watching Xan shake the other guardian's hand he mimicked this and shook Riveners. "Domeh'lo." He said, still not quite familiar with the pronouncing of his own name. "You, Ri'ener..." he tried saying but the "v" just wasn't something he could grasps as apparent by his own name.

Aphismet shook the other guardian's hand with slight relief, although the real relief came a moment later when Rivener seemed to get himself under control, diffusing the temper flare and offering his hand to the grey Raevan peacefully. Aphi could turn his attention to Xan properly, smiling. "Xan. Nice to meet you. Have you-... you're not on the list, so I take it you're a new owner? The Lab sends out updated Guardian-Raevan lists every half-year or so, I think? We'll be seeing your name there soon, then."
Perhaps he was being overly curious, but Aphismet found himself asking all kinds of questions. "Where do you live? What do you do for a living? If you don't mind my asking, is your hair white from birth? Mine's not, so I'm wondering if you got yours the same way... unlikely, but maybe!" The chef realized he was rambling and laughed, running a hand to the back of his neck. "Sorry, I just enjoy meeting new Lab people."
Rivener busily ignored his guardian's voice going on and on, opting instead for the very close examination of Domevlo. Red eyes scoured the other Raevan carefully, turning over every detail. Eyes kind of like Vyn's. Wings, mask, hair, horn, everything else was exactly like Gage! Only, the colors desaturated... It was beyond odd. And yet there was no mistaking that this was a newborn; the way it had needed to watch its guardian (Xan, was it?) to learn how to shake hands was a dead giveaway. If not that, then the way it couldn't pronounce names properly.
"Yep, Rivener. Hello, Domevlo. You're new, right?" Riv asked, simple and short, waiting for an answer and also trying to gauge how outspoken and social this new frei was. So far he'd been quiet, but Riv could be mistaken...

Xan scratched the side of his nose chuckling lightly to himself. Well at least this Aphismet person was fairly nice. It was a lot more refreshing then his last guardian/Raevan encounter at least. "A report?" He question well that was certainly good to know. He'd be sure to keep up with it to better familiarize himself with Lab's workings. This was all so new and everything came at such a fast pace he hadn't had time to really understand the place or the people that it supported.
As his mind began wandering the questions began to slip through the fog bringing Xan back to earth as he gave a warm chuckle. "Ah... so you have questions already?" He didn't mind it was a refreshing change of pace. "Well I'm not big on myself but I s'pouse I could give it a go. I live in Durem, pretty much a freelance pianist, do a few odd jobs in Aekea..." Plucking at his platinum tresses he shrugged offering an answer to that question as well. "Got this color from my ma and the eyes from my pa." He shrugged not feeling too worried about the rambling all that much. It was nice to be well received, he just wished Domevlo could get the same. Turning mint eyes upon his charge he watched the older Raevan carefully, it seemed he wasn't going to condemn Domevlo on his looks but he already knew the other was quite taken. So this was Domevlo's fate... to be castrated long before anyone truly got to know him?
Domevlo on the other hand was busy taking in the older Raevan as well. Only this one seemed to different. Eyes moving from his face to his chest and then stomach area he poked at it curiously. "Why?" He questioned, not quite sure he understood. This one had things he did not. Why? Why couldn't Domevlo have that too. "What that?" He questioned poking at Rivener's stomach. Xan's face went pale... there he goes again touching everything he didn't understand. "Stop that!" He repremanded but only got a hiss from the monochrome frei. "Go way! Want know. What that? Why have, not me!" Well he was talkative when something peeked his interest to which it has. Though now he was demanding to know things he didn't understand and brushing his demands aside was something Xan was also learning not to do. Still the boy had to learn some restraint when it came to touching others and asking questions. You just don't go around demanding every answer under the sun...!

Aphismet's eyebrows raised. Xan had this color hair since birth? Hn, the chef hadn't thought this was a very possible color... Ah well, it just meant that Xan hadn't lived through anything so traumatic it had discolored his locks. That was a GOOD thing, but Aphi felt a little let down; it would have been nice to meet someone who'd shared that kind of experience.
It didn't matter, the chef forced himself to think. Xan was a nice person, and that was the important thing. "Ah, you live in Durem? We live in Durem Caves North, along the marshes. "WE" being me and my little brother Isikoro and his Raevan Eiry. If you ever need help, feel free to call us."
When Xan's attention drifted over to the two floating bodies, a soft rebuke escaping the cowboy, Aphismet turned his attention that way as well. Ah, the gray Gage-lookalike was poking at Riv's stomach? And of course, as usual, the Scorpion wouldn't mind the touching at all but Aphismet kept watching anyway, gauging his Sigel's mood.
Rivener was grinning, as it happened. He remained where he was and allowed the poking; he always rather enjoyed having his new abdomen touched and admired. He looked good, and he was special among Raevans, and only that short burst of attention on his body was enough to stoke the fires of his ego dangerously high. Clearing his throat, realizing how vain he was getting, Rivener tried to banish these self-important thoughts from his head.
"That's okay, Xan, I don't mind people touching me. This, Domevlo, is a stomach. I'm bigger than others like us because I'm older; grown-up. You'll have this too someday, when YOU get grown-up and older." Riv nodded, smiling. This new frei was so very different from the quiet, introverted Gage! Outspoken and curious and not afraid to talk back to his guardian. Riv liked him, he decided.

Xan sighed realizing he wasn't the type to tell his charge what to do if it was within his means but judging by Rivener's reaction he supposed it was okay. If the other didn't mind then who was he to deny Domo his need to understand. With a soft smile he moved back letting the two get a better understanding of each other. Turning to Aphismet he smiled again. "Um... so was it difficult raisin' Rivener?" He inquired curious to know a little more from another guardian's perspective. After all he was stuck with the kid might as well learn from example.
With his guardian at bay, Domo moved in for a further inspection poking at this... "Toe mack?" Interesting. Poking again he gave a deep chuckle poking at the other again and again. "Not soft." He frowned, most of the things he'd touched so far were soft. This was... "Not soft?" He didn't know the word but knew it wasn't soft for the most part. "Domeh'lo older too?" He questioned wondering how that worked.

Aphismet scoffed at Xan's question. "Ah, yes, I would call it difficult at times. But it's been worth it; he's like a son or a kid brother, you know? I didn't really realize he was a living, breathing person at first so I treated him like a pet that I could leave at home when I felt like going... Kinda stupid of me. But as long as you treat them like persons, Raevans are really fun to have around. Certainly makes things interesting." The chef grinned. "How long have you had, ah, Domevlo?"
Rivener chuckled, watching the masked frei poke at him again and again. "Not Toe-mack, SSSSStomach. You almost have it. And no, it's not soft." There was a slight edge of pride in Riv's voice at that; he made SURE it wasn't soft. "Domevlo will be older LATER, after days and days and days. Time has to go by first." The Scorpion offered a grin, realizing how very very NEW this raevan was. He didn't even know most words yet, so of course he wouldn't know the working of TIME, would he? "After the sun goes up and comes down LOOOOTS of time, then you'll be older."

Xan rolled his shoulders feeling a bit sheepish himself, he wasn't sure what to expected but treating Domevlo like a pet? It seemed kinda harsh on his part. The kid was walking... well floating around on his own, talking in so few words, almost like a toddler. Eying the frei he gave a soft laugh, his poking Rivener seemed to appease him for now. "I guess I have a lot to learn about'em but so far he's been fun to have around. A lot of... interestin' moments to say the least." And how.
Domevlo on the other hand was not quite following the other Reavan. "Time? What that? Days and days..." He rolled the new words around liking them but some how not liking them. Did this mean his chances of being older would be far away? No! That he did not like, too long. "NO! Older now!" He demanded as if Rivener held power over time. "Older get toe -mack be great!"
Standing aside, Xan realized without a doubt Domelvo would be a prima donna or rather a primo uomo. Good Lord... best be steerin' him away from that divo lifestyle, he chuckled to himself.

Aphismet chuckled and raised eyebrows as he watched the masked Frei demanding Rivener make him older NOW. "Well, you're going to have a lot more interesting moments, I'm sure. Just be patient, and remember there's a whole lot of us guardians out here. If you ever feel lost, surely one of us can help out or at least give some kind of advice." He grinned. It was so easy to forget, but he and Rivener had been around one another for a LONG time now. Aphi should be able to give some insight on how to raise a Raevan, even if he didn't really think there was much he could say.
Riv snickered. Domevlo was so demanding, and he obviously didn't understand how time worked. Impatient and jealous. Riv could remember when HE used to be like that. "Okay, I'll tell you what: when you go home and go sleep, tomorrow you MIGHT have a SSStomach." Since the newborn wasn't very observant or patient, Riv had the distinct impression that he'd soon either forget what Riv just offered, or he'd keep waiting day after day. And of course, eventually it would happen.
"What are you doing here? In this building? Buying things?" Riv asked, trying to distract the gray frei's attention.

Xan figured as much, he kinda liked Aphismet, the guy was very nice and besides he had ashen hair too if not natural it was still some form of connection. "I suppose I could just ask around when I need it." He confirmed. That's pretty much how he learned anyway. Raeavan's were very interesting creatures in and of themselves.
Domevlo poked at the 'toe-mack' one last time before he was given information on his growth. "To mo row..." He nodded okay he felt he understood this. If he went home right away and woke up then he'd be older. Good. This was good. He nodded liking this soon to push at his guardian to get a move on with going home.
"Hey! Where's the fire kiddo...?" Xan yelped surprised at Domo's enthusiasm. Though just as the lead frei began pushing- his attention was diverted again. Rivener had inquired a few things. "By'ing?" Looking back at Xan he had no clue what they were there for... oh wait! "Picter box.. see big thing want go."

Rivener furrowed his brows in confusion, smiling as Domevlo floated away. He looked like he wanted to be off right away, probably eager to go to sleep or something... Just as Riv had figured. Good thing he mentioned the other thing, maybe it would be suitably distracting.
"Picture box? ...You're buying a TV? Or going to the movies?" The Scorpion tapped a finger on his chin, wondering which one Domo had meant. Red eyes glanced over at the guardian, hoping to perhaps get an answer out of him instead?
Aphismet chuckled. Domo certainly seemed to be a demanding sort, and Xan looked like an easy-going enough person; they would fit well together, surely. For the moment the white-haired chef didn't add anything to the conversation, simply walking over to Rivener's side.

Xan smiled holding Domo back with a sheepish grin. "Calm down... we just got here. We can go home later besides didn't you want to see all the shops." He chuckles turning to Rivener and Aphismet. "He was excited over something he saw on tv and wanted to come here... shouldn't have left him in front of that thing without explaining."
Domo frowned not liking that his guardian wouldn't let him go. They had to hurry if he was going to get big. "Domo go sleep. Get big."
"Huh?" Well that was strange what did he mean by that? "Well if you let me get some things we'll go home and you can get some sleep." Sleep was good for a growing boy so it couldn't be any different for a growing Raevan could it? Turning to Aphismet and Rivener he smiled scratching the back of his head. "Um ... well I guess we should let you get going then."
