This is a Private RP for

TARIEL (kalindara)
and
RIVENER (Aphismet)

Location: Outside Lab 305 offices
Weather: Sunny and warm
Time: Morning

PostPosted: Sun Jun 07, 2009 7:36 pm

Rivener was glad whenever he got to be the only one to accompany Isikoro and Eirdirsceol to work at the Lab. It meant they all got to take the train together over here, a few buses, and sometimes (like this morning) a cab if they were running late. But the best part was not the trip to the office; no, it was the walk home. Or float, in Riv's case. The Scorpion loved being by himself, far from the house, on a warm sunny day. He'd go home languidly, stopping whenever something struck his fancy. He'd get to listen to his music and enjoy the looks people shot his way. He'd get to imagine that he was really grown-up, living on his own. THAT was the best part.

But first he had to escort the two inside, and then attempt to find Laz (hardly ever successful) or Zul (also hardly ever successful). Both of the guardians concerned had different shifts than Isi's, so the Scorpion had hardly ever spied them here at the office.

After another fruitless search for the demon frei or the fire Sigel, Rivener was ready to head home. He'd already spent an hour at the Lab, but it's not like he was in a hurry to return.

"I'm going!" Riv announced as he floated to the door, stuffing both hands in his jacket pockets and grinning over at Isi who sat behind the greeting desk. "I got my cell if something comes up."

The boy waved him off and Riv floated out the glass doors, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath of the warm spring air. Letting out a sigh, the Sigel headed slowly towards home.

Valentines Day had been something of a disaster, as far as Tari was concerned, but it had left her with an important To Do list and she had dodged it long enough. It was time to face her embarrassment head-on, throw her pride to the wind ... and apologise. Of course, first she had to find the Raevan she had wronged.

The golden-armored Raevan hummed to herself and checked the directions in her hand for the umpteenth time. Thankfully there was also a tiny map, so Tari didn't have to rely on confusing street names alone in order to find the new location of Kyou's Lab. Tari's mama had good directions, and Tari would return the piece of paper to its place of importance (pinned up to a board next to the phone in the kitchen, for emergency use) as soon as she was done.

Going to the Lab was a good idea, she congratulated herself. She knew that Laz was good friends with Rivener, having introduced them so long ago at the beach party, and he would surely know where his friend could be found. And even if Laz wasn't there, surely the Lab kept records of where they lived? TV had taught her about "privacy laws", but only in the sense that they were constantly broken and people found out your information anyway. So there was no thought in her mind that whoever WAS at the Lab wouldn't tell her how to find Rivener.

Luck was on her side, because as she approached her destination, she recognised the black-and-red figure leaving it. "Ah!" she gasped out, stopping to hover in Rivener's path. "W-wait! Rivener, um, Tari is... Uh, Tari needs to..."

She trailed off uncertainly, peering up at the older Raevan from beneath her bangs. Hopefully Rivener would listen to her, though she couldn't blame him if he didn't...
PostPosted: Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:35 pm

Rivener reached into his pocket for his headphones, ready to place the buds into his ears and tune out the outside world on his walk back home. That whole concept was quickly blasted apart as the Scorpion found himself interrupted almost immediately, a familiar form of gold and black slipping into his path and stopping him. The Sigel blinked up at the girl, surprised to see her there. Didn't she live far from the Lab? What was she doing here?

The girl began speaking and Rivener sighed, putting the earphones back into his jacket. He offered the angel a spiteful frown, quirking his lips into a displeased line. "Hmph. If you're going to insult me again, you can forget about it. I'm just going to go home, so you don't have to worry about me tainting things around here with my evilness or whatever."

Despite his words, Rivener had crossed his arms and wasn't moving from his spot just yet. He knew he should just go, not invite any more confrontation with the frustrating plate-gloved girls, but a part of him was simply too curious to go. What did she want? Was she actually here to see HIM? Or was she simply going to demand if Satan had come here to corrupt Lazarus?

"...Well, what is it??"

Tari meeped and shrank in upon herself at the icy reception she received. Not that she could blame him, really - if someone had called her Satan, she wasn't sure if she could forgive them very quickly. She wavered in the air and dropped closer to the ground, ribbons trailing on the footpath.

"Tari not think Rivener tainting things," she mumbled, eyes downcast. "Tari was wrong to call names, or think Rivener bad. Was confused and wrong and..." Taking a deep breath, Tari straightened up and finally met Rivener's eyes. It was important to do this properly. In a stronger, clearer voice, she said, "Tari is very sorry. Rivener is not Satan and Tari was very bad to say so. Please to forgive."

Of course, she didn't expect it to be that easy. Bad feelings didn't just go away, and it wasn't as though they had been friends before - Tari had a brief recollection of meeting him at a beach for one of the big Lab parties. Tari knew from television that some fights didn't end, even if both people smiled and pretended they were friends, but then went and stole people's boyfriends and wrecked weddings and sometimes even poisoned each other (Tari hoped she and Rivener wouldn't come to this, because Tari didn't have a boyfriend, wasn't getting married, and didn't know the first thing about poison - she'd be a horrible archnemesis). But it was important to Tari that she try and smooth things over. She felt horribly guilty over what she'd said, especially after meeting a proper demon who was much more Satan-like, even though HE wasn't Satan either.

Tari had the feeling that religion hadn't always been this complicated for her, but these days it seemed to be causing nothing but trouble.

"Is okay if still mad," she finished up. "Just wanted Rivener to know Tari is very sorry and would like to make up to Rivener."

Rivener was rather glad he'd stayed put to listen to whatever the dark-haired tart had to say. At first he'd not expected anything half-way smart to come out of her mouth, but as the girl continued on with an apology, one of the Scorpion's eyebrows had lifted in curiosity. ...Okay, so maybe he shouldn't be calling her a tart out of spite. She was actually saying she had been wrong... Riv didn't know many people who would admit to their own failures this completely, honestly, and apparently earnestly.

...Perhaps she was particularly good at this because she was such a religious zealot?

The Scorpion was thinking things over and therefore didn't reply to her words right away. And once again he was glad he'd stayed put, because Tari repeated her apology and then stated that she would like to "make it up to Rivener". The smile that slowly drew itself over Riv's face was perhaps as Satanic-looking as he could get.

With arms still crossed, Rivener floated a slight bit closer. "Hmmm," he played the pondering, magnanimous Raevan. "If you're really sorry and you admit you were wrong and bad to call me names like that, then I suppose I can let you make it up to me. I'll ask you for one little price, and if you can do it then I'll forgive you completely and be your friend even, if you want. Okay?"

The Sigel's arms uncrossed and he propped one fist on his hip, staring at the girl with smoldering red eyes. He shouldn't be doing this, he knew- hell, he already felt mildly guilty about somehow "betraying" Zul. But this wasn't a REAL betrayal; Rivener just HAD to find out how Tari would react to this request, as religious and upright as she was. Grinning, fangs showing, Rivener delivered his verdict:

"Kiss me."

Tari beamed and nodded along as Rivener spoke about having Tari perform one favour, and then forgiving her and being friends. This was even better than she'd hoped for. It wasn't as hard as everyone said apologising would be! And she was so glad that Rivener was being mature and responsible about it.

And then Rivener dropped his bombshell.
"Kiss me."

"... Um, okies," Tari agreed, blinking and tilting her head to one side. That was all? It felt a little silly, all that build up for just a kiss on the cheek. Then again, Tari thought, taking in Rivener's fang-filled grin, it seemed unlikely that he would ask for such an easy thing. Maybe he actually meant to steal her most important of kisses!

"W-wait!" Tari raised one gauntlet. "Does Rivener mean... he wants Tari's special, FIRST kiss?" Her tone of voice conveyed her shock. That was- that was just... bad!

"Tari very sorry, but cannot give to Rivener. She promised," she tried to explain. She was actually rather sad to have to deny the request (particularly when she didn't see anything bad about expressing love and friendship herself, it was just that others had told her not to). Black locks of hair twined around a golden claw as Tari spoke. "See, FIRST kiss is very special. And Tari promise to not give away easy, only to someone she likes lots and loooots. And Rivener should not give away kiss so easy, too. Unless," the thought struck her, "Rivener already had first kiss?"

She was intrigued by the idea. She wasn't sure what, exactly, a first kiss entailed - apart from being on the lips rather than on cheeks - only that Natsuki had made her promise not to throw away such a special thing. But the way Natsuki spoke about kissing was the way non-Raevans spke about a lot of other things, as though everyone already knew all about it. Tari hadn't been able to ask Sa'i, younger than Tari and just as innocent of such things. Rivener might actually be the first Raevan she'd met who had kissed someone! And if so, Tari had questions!

Rivener's grin didn't fade as the angel girl reacted to his request. At first she seemed to have no problem with it, and Riv found that interesting. But THEN she seemed to realize that he meant a PROPER kiss instead of the peck on the cheek she probably expected.

Learning that this would be Tariel's First Kiss should not have been a surprise, but it was. Rivener often forgot that not everyone was as easy-going with their kisses as he'd been. He suddenly felt like he was BULLYING her. Chuckling, the Scorpion relaxed from his expectant pose, instead tilting his head slightly.

"I didn't know it would be your special first kiss, Tariel. I won't ask for that, then. Just a kiss on the cheek is okay, then, yeah?" With a smile that looked considerably less demonic, Riv floated forward a little to be within reach if the girl decided to lean up and kiss. He even turned his head slightly and pushed his long lock of red-and-black hair over a shoulder and out of her way.

Asking if HE had given away his first kiss caused a rather short-lived laugh to escape the Scorpion, and it was followed with a mild blush. That question made him think very suddenly of Zul; the demon frei hadn't gotten Riv's first kiss, but Riv had HIS. Riv was suddenly very very glad Tari hadn't agreed to the kiss.

"To answer your question, I've already had my first kiss, yes. With someone I liked the best out of everyone I knew." The Scorpion turned nostalgic, recalling the icy frei that only he could fully understand. He'd felt special when Roux was around, and that was probably why he'd liked him so much... But it most likely was NOT love.

To say Tari was surprised at how quickly Rivener changed his request would be an understatement. However, it was not a bad kind of shock, not at all. Tari blossomed at Riv's counteroffer: her trademark beam split her face, she rose back up in the air and bobbed happily in place, all sweetness and light once again.

Tari decided she wasn't surprised that Rivener - grown and so brash and confident - had already had his first (and possibly more!) kiss. Adozen questions flew into her mind, but she forced them down. First, she had to keep her end of the bargain.

Darting forward, she planted a soft kiss on the cheek turned towards her. A loud mwah noise accompanied the action. Her beaming smile softened a little as she drew back, less blinding but more heartfelt. "Thankies, Rivener. Is very nice of you. Tari hopes to be friends, yes."

All in all, it seemed to be looking good. They hadn't gotten off to a good start by any means, but things seemed to be smoothing over nicely.

With the kiss done, Tari turned her attention back to the matter of kissing. So, Rivener had shared his first kiss with the person that he 'liked best'? Did it always work that way, or were there other signs she should be looking for? Otherwise people would just end up kissing their best friends all the time.

"Hmm. How Rivener know who to give first kiss to? Televee says Tari should 'just know'. Silly. How does Tari know if she knows?" It was quite disconcerting to have TV fail her at this stage. It was a great source of wisdom (or so it seemed to the golden Raevan) and had yet to lead her wrong. Except it clearly did not want to explain kissing - possibly in league with Natsuki and Kali in wanting to keep Tari from kissing or groping others.

Rivener chuckled at the kiss on his cheek, such an enthusiastic display complete with "MWAH" sound effects and beaming smiles. It was rather... endearing, as reluctant as the Scorpion was to admit that about the golden-clad zealot. "Alright, so now that the whole mess is behind us, we can be friends. No more calling people names without thinking though."

The Sigel had thought this would be it, so he'd stuffed a hand into his pocket to retrieve the earbuds of his mp3 player, intent on putting them on and heading towards home. The clawed hand paused half-way up to his ears, however, when Tariel suddenly began asking questions about kissing.

The ruby-red eyes opened wide in surprise. Tari was quoting "televee" as a teacher, the same way Rivener had been thinking back in the day. And she seemed just as confused and curious about kissing as Riv had been, too! The Scorpion thought back to his first kiss with Roux, and had to admit that he hadn't known what he was doing when that happened... He certainly hadn't been able to tell the difference between strong friendship and love. He thought he'd loved Roux, but there was such a difference between that feeling and the way he felt for Zul now...

Rivener never thought he'd do this, but he ended up saying the only thing that, in retrospect, had been right. Aphismet's words. "You can't really know for sure until you're more grown, I think, Tariel. You need a tummy, like this," Riv placed a hand on his own, smiling softly. "When you see the person you like the very very best, you'll know you can kiss because just the thought of doing it will send a strange feeling through you. Your stomach feels like there are butterflies caught inside trying to get out, and you feel lighter than air, and you can't help but smile and sometimes your breath will catch. It sounds scary, but it feels very nice."

The Scorpion floated forward and gave Tari a small hug, pulling back a moment later with a confident, happy grin. "Be patient, keep your Special Kiss until you find someone who makes you feel different than anyone else. Then you'll be happy you kept your Kiss for them. Right?"

Tari pouted at the idea that she had to wait for a tummy to kiss anyone. That was exactly what Natsuki had been saying to Tari and Sa'ida, too. And her mama said no more groping of herself or others, because she was too young...

"Why everyone say Tari must grow before do fun stuff?" she grumbled to herself. "No fun. No kiss, no touch, no nothing. What use tummy, anyway?"

It wasn't like kissing involved tummies. But maybe tummies somehow knew who you were meant to kiss, and that was why you needed them? Rivener and Laz were both much smarter than Tari - was it because of their tummies? Perhaps there was special knowledge that only a tummy could hold!

Tilting forward, as though she were bending over, the golden Raevan stared at Rivener's abs. The televee had shown her that brains were bumpy. Riv's tummy (and Laz's, too) was quite bumpy. Did that mean there was a second brain kept in tummies?

"Is funny place for brain," she said seriously, straightening back up to look Riv in the eyes. "But at least Tari know she will be smarter when she grows and also gets tummy-brain."

Hey, it made sense to her ... Just not to anyone else.

She was slightly mollified by the hug. Hugs were nice and Tari thought there could never be too many of them. Heaving a put-upon sigh that she didn't quite feel anymore, Tari said, "Okies. Tari wait and keep special Kiss. Tari be happy, and hopefully they be happy, too."

Whoever got her Kiss, they ought to be happy about all this trouble she was going through. Who knew kissing was so complicated? Televee certainly hadn't said so!
PostPosted: Wed Aug 05, 2009 7:20 am

Rivener chuckled at the girl's reactions. She seemed so disappointed that she couldn't kiss anyone right away, calling it "fun stuff". Tari then bent over and stared at Riv's lower torso, trying to see what made it so special. The Scorpion outright laughed as Tariel straightened, talking about tummy-brains. Riv supposed that was ONE way of putting it, in a kind of skewed pespective, not-really-getting-it sort of way. Still, the Sigel wasn't about to correct the girl; she'd understood the core of the message, and that's all that mattered.

"Well you know, if your Special Someone that you give your first kiss to was as smart as you about finding out how to keep it, they will be happy too, yes. Don't rush it, I guess. But, I gotta ask: Why no touch? You can hug, and you can touch... Did something bad happen or something?" The thought that "touching" meant Tariel had been squeezing some girl's chest hadn't even crossed the Sigel's mind.

Tari considered this and nodded. Whoever her special someone was, they'd better be glad about her waiting to give them her first kiss. Maybe they'd have saved their first kiss, too? Though it seemed like everyone except for Tari had already kissed someone.

"Yes, no touch," Tari scowled. "Is not bad, Tari thinks. But mama say no. Why so bad? I like, people like..." Deciding one last demonstration couldn't hurt, Tari grabbed her boobs, deepening her already considerable cleavage. "Tari no mind if Raevans touch. All people seem to like, even boys who don't have. Though maybe that is why they like?" Tari guessed. Kind of like her fascination with tummies, since she didn't have one, maybe boys liked boobs because they had none of their own. Bu in that case, Tari didn't mind sharing! ... Except for mama's new rule that no one was to grab Tari's boobs, not even Tari herself.

With a sigh, Tari let her hands drop. "Mama no like for some reason. So now is banned. Like kissing."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 19, 2009 11:48 am

Rivener choked on his own breath when Tari grabbed her boobs like that, unabashedly squeezing them together and making that already-generous cleavage look even MORE inviting. It was hard for the Scorpion not to laugh, but he managed to keep it in until Tariel dropped her hands with a defeated sigh, sounding like she absolutely did NOT understand why she couldn't do that. At the word "banned", Rivener burst out laughing, bent nearly over with loud, unstoppable guffaws. His face was open in a rarely-seen, REALLY amused laugh, without a single hint of the self-confidence and sultriness the Sigel usually tried to carry himself with.

For a good solid minute Rivener laughed, bobbing in place and floating in circles, trying to work it out of himself. Eventually he straightened, grinning and laughing softly still, wiping a tear from his eye and looking at Tariel with gentle tolerance, the kind reserved for kids who eat glue in kindergarten.

"Ohhh Tari. Your mama is right. I think you need to watch more televee. Try to notice how people act towards girls' chests: maybe you can learn the secret of why you can't do that!"
Ohhh, Rivener was about ready to start laughing again any second. He'd never had the giggles before! "I should go home, Tari. And you should too! You have lots of televee-studying to do. For your boobies." Riv began laughing slightly again at that word, imagining Tari purposefully looking up boob-tv-shows now.

To say Tariel was startled when Rivener burst out laughing was an understatement. How had she ever confused him for being Satan? He was alternatively nice, then strange, and okay, sometimes a little mean (wanting kisses) but ultimately very understanding when she explained things. Televee said some males had to pretend not to be nice because they thought being nice was bad. Maybe Riv was one of those trying to hide this? What had televee said those boys had? Mellow centres? Oh yes, marshmellow centres. Yumyumyum.

She perked up when he suggested watching more televee. Now there was an idea she could agree with! "Okies," she chirped, "Tari can do. Televee must explain more to Tari!"

After all, televee was never wrong.

"Thank you, Riv'ner." Tari beamed at the scorpion Raevan, glad she had come to apologise. It seemed everything worked out wonderfully when you were honest and nice and sorry about things you'd done. "Tari will see later, yes. Let you know how televee study goes!"

Darting forward, she gave Riv another "mwah"-smacking kiss on the cheek. "Bye-byes!" Humming to herself, she floated back down the path from the Lab to the street. Time to go home and get studying!
