The filly looked up towards the horizon as she walked by the river; she could see the mountain... The mountain that she had traveled with Grencia for so long just to reach. His herd was up there, and so was what she considered to be her destiny. She smiled happily to herself, contented with her progress. She would make her family proud!
Feeling thirsty all of a sudden, the female halted and turned towards the river. Bending down, she closed her eyes and lapped at the cool water before straightening up again, letting out a happy sigh as she shook her head to get the water droplets off her face. The water near the mountain tastes different somehow... It might be her imagination, but it tastes somewhat sweeter.
"Maybe I'll ask mister Grencia about it later," Brioso mused out loud as she continued walking by the river, her head turning around to take in the sights and smells. She is going to miss the forest so much...

The morning had passed by quickly, and the sun had stung away at Vasu's black coat as he slept it all away. After finally waking in a heated mess, he bolted up and away to his favorite grassless patch of dirt. Nothing could cool him down like a sheet of soft dirt to cling to his moist, warm coat. As he darted off, he glanced around with shifty eyes, certain that nobody was watching him.
"Mmmmm.." he moaned to himself excitedly as his patch of dirt came into view. He slowed his pace and bounded over into the dirt, then paused like a statue. With a long exhale, he let his knees buckle, and the weight of his body pull him down into the dirt with a huge flop. Laying there, completely pressed to the ground, he half watched as the dirt flew up around him. It calmly began to settle back into it's place. The air from his rising and falling chest, clearing a little space around his face.
He almost burst into contented laughter being in the patch of dirt. He was holding out, torturing the desire that coursed through his veins. It was almost like a self game of his, seeing how long he could hold out, laying perfectly still. It never lasted too long...

The filly would have missed the sound if not for the fact that she had strayed from the river and into the forest again... It sounded like when she fell down while taking her first few steps after emerging from her basket, but slightly louder and more muffled. There was also... Laughter? Frowning, the female couldn't help but trot towards the direction the sounds were coming from in an effort to figure out what was making them.
As silent as she could manage, Brioso peered through some bushes at where she predicted the source of the sounds was. To her disappointment, she saw nothing... Until she realized that the source might be further in. Leaping out from the bush, the filly trotted deeper into the forest. As the vegetation thinned, she found herself in the presence of a stallion... Laying almost motionlessly on the ground!
Was he hurt? Maybe that 'laughter' she heard was really a call of pain!
"Are... Are you alright, mister?" The female called out, bursting out from the little vegetation she was standing on to a clearing that seemed to be filled with dirt. She hurried over to the older Soquili's side, nudging gently at his tummy with her maw. Concerned, Brioso frowned waited impatiently for an answer.

Vasu'raj almost jumped out of his skin, jolting like he had been struck by lightning when a voice touched his side. With a jerk, his head lifted. Catching sight of something smaller then himself, he carefully moved his legs underneath his body. Luckily he hadn't thrashed around when he was startled!!
Looking now, eye to eye with the little filly, he nervously answered her. "Uhhh...I'm fine. Just fine. A bead of sweat dropped from his brow as he spoke. This foal was going to think he was nuts. Good one Vasu....looks what you've gone and done now.
Coughing once to clear his throat, he confirmed: "Really, I'm fine." while giving her a sappy grin. He held the grin perhaps a little longer than he should of. She caught him off guard! He couldn't be expected to act normal under the circumstances..

"Oh..." The filly answered simply; it was difficult to tell if she was disappointed or glad that the stranger was fine by her tone. Giving a pause, Brioso tilted her head slightly to the right out of habit, and scanned the stallion; he was covered in dirt from the ground, but it does appear that he really was fine physically. Finally seemingly convinced, she nodded and added with a grin, "I'm glad! For a moment there, I thought you had hurt yourself! Hello, I'm Brioso..."
Her voice trailed off, and her grin turned into a slight frown, "But what are you doing, lying on the ground? Did you fall?" She paused, looking expectantly at the other Soquili, unable to see the stallion's rather obvious discomfort at her presence.

Vasu leaned his chin forward, observing the air of concern about her. How peculiar that one so small as herself, would have an almost genuine concern for others. Wonder if that came from her parents perhaps? Well...he was nothing like his parents. His shoulders slumped at the idea. He wasn't near as suave as his father, that was for sure.
"Well Miss Brioso, thank you for your concern. I am Vasu'raj! You can call me Vasu for short, as most tend to do." he grinned at her still rather cheesily.
With a curl of his lip, he thought how best to answer the young inquisitive filly's questions. Suppose it might be easier to just show her...but how would she react? He is a grown soquili..and as such, most might think he should act like one.
Looking at her now with a studying look, he decided that was the best way. To just show her. "Hmm." Where to start.. "Could you...back up a little bit?" he gave her the first genuine smile as he asked her, ready to give her his best display!
He waited a moment for her to get a little distance, nodding his chin her way to encourage her to back up a little further.
"This is what I was doing." he spoke as he flopped back to his side. Lifting his chin, he gave her a wild smile of delight before he thrusted his legs up, sending him to his back in a thrashing roll in the dirt. Wiggling around, he had the look of a fish that had hopped out of the water! His hair and coat ground in the dirt before he flopped back over most contentedly. "Ahahaha!.." he cut his laugh short and cleared his throat.
A smirk broke his face from ear to ear as he huffed at her, barely out of breath, but more excited to be doing what he loved best! He awaited her response with flared nostrils and perked ears. He enjoyed doing that far too much....(lol)

{That was so cute. xD}
Brioso did as she was told, looking at the stallion curiously before she backed off, her eyes never leaving Vasu. She didn't want to miss anything that he wanted to show her. When he 'flopped down' on the dirt, the filly's eyes widened and her mouth opened, as if to comment - although no sound came out. A few seconds after the display, Brioso finally cleared her throat, as if she didn't mean to react the way she did.
It was weird, seeing an adult behave like that... After all, it was something that she, a filly, might enjoy with her siblings under the watchful eyes of her parents. A small smile appeared on her lips, before it widened into a grin and she burst into laughter. Trotting over to stand where she was before, she bent down to look eye-to-eye with the stallion.
"So that was what you were doing!" She giggled, nodding her head, "That looks kinda fun!"

"You bet it's fun! I'd say it's some of the best fun to be had. The cool dirt stickin' to your coat, the smell of the earth on your face, it's soo awesome. Gives you a rugged look even after the dirt has settled from your coat." his sea green eyebrows raised to reflect the sincerity of contentment in his expression.
Placing his front hooves firm on the ground, and pushing off, he rose up onto his legs. Skinny but tall, he towered over the little filly, yet was hardly intimidating. He gave her a warm grin. "Here! The brown sea is all yours if you care to go for a swim." he stated as he bounded to one side like an energetic colt still. Always full of life.
Flaring his nostrils with another goofy grin, he eagerly awaited the young one to take the bait! No foal should go without a good romp in the dirt. Even though so many did just that. He recalled meeting a mare that was perfectly distraught and ashamed for getting dirty. Nobody should feel that way. If your having fun, why would appearance matter? Not like dirt didn't wash off if you wanted it too..

The filly paused as the stallion gave his explanation, nodding once in a while when he said something she agreed with. At his invitation, Brioso hesitated for a moment, looking from Vasu to the dirt on the ground before looking at Vasu again. It really was tempting, but what would her esteemed mentor say if she goes back looking like a mess? Closing her eyes, she tilted her head in deep thought before letting out a sigh and a giggle; Grencia wouldn't blame her for having fun!
After all, she is still rather young!
"Well, to be honest, I've never really done it before..." The female confessed in a soft voice, her eyes darting to the side to avoid the stallion's glaze as she blushed lightly. Sure, she had gotten dirty before, but she had never... Flopped into a pile of dirt on purpose before. In fact, she didn't know that it had so many benefits until just a moment ago. She trotted over to the 'brown sea' and took a deep breathe, "Here I go!"
Rather clumsily, she leaned over to her right and gently kicked herself off the ground, causing her to fall over. She expected the landing to be painful, but the ground, cushioned by the dirt, was surprisingly soft and it didn't hurt at all. In fact, she rather enjoyed the way the dirt sort of tickles her as they fly into the air and land on her coat. Then, she wiggled a little, trying to mimic what Vasu was doing just now.
"Hey... You're right! This is fun!"

He didn't think twice about her not having rolled in the dirt before. Seemed to be a common trait amongst those he met. His brother Chidi...had a grass rolling fetish! Vasu couldn't understand that. -_- (Hypocrite lol!)
"That a' girl!" he said most encouragingly as she stepped up to stage. His heart was filled to a point of almost bursting again. He was sharing his addiction, and was happy in doing so. The little Brioso seemed to accept this part of him, if even for a moment. It felt nice.
"Now put your back into it! Show that dirt you have no fear!" he said, ending in a fit of light hearted chuckles. What a trooper she was, sticking to it and giving it her all.
"Look at you! Your a natural Lil' Miss Brioso." He was grinning from ear to ear as her little black body wiggled away.
"You know, I didn't even think about it, but you have a black coat like me! You see, that's the other best part, the cool dirt keeps you from getting too hot in the blazing summer sun! It will stick to your coat and protect you from it's rays." he spoke in a rush, too excited to insert another fun "dirt fact".

"Yes, mister Vasu," Brioso nodded as she rolled over, covering the other side of her pelt in the dirt. It had been quite long since she had so much "pointless" fun; she found training to be fun, but it had a purpose. Rolling around in the dirt? Well, not so much... It was just good old fun - fun for the fun of it! Just like how her siblings and her played when they were much younger.
She sneezed as the dirt tickled her nose, laughing as it flew away from her. Then, she wiggled a little longer in the dirt before climbing up from the ground, shaking her body to get rid of some of the dirt hanging loosely on her pelt. Looking up at the stallion, she looked mildly surprised, "Oh! But I thought that I was going to wash it off..."
Not that it wasn't comfortable to have dirt on her, but she really shouldn't return to her mentor looking like that...

"Sure sure." he assured her. "Even if you went back to your parents like that, most would make you wash it off anyway." he nodded and then shrugged.
"Might come a day where you don't have to wash it off, if you didn't want to." He stuck his tongue out at her playfully. Still, most didn't walk around with a cluster of dirt stuck to their hair like he did.. It's no wonder he couldn't find himself a lady! That and he completely melted around any mare.. Funny how easy he could be his plain goofy self around the younger generation, or his family.
"As long as you remember to have the time of your life, it doesn't matter how you do it, or who see's you doing it." he added with a wink and a warm smile. If anything, that was the greatest thing any soquili could learn.
He debated offering to walk the filly to the steam nearby, but didn't want to invade her independence. She had found her way here, and probably could find her way back. "Do you know where the nearest running water is?"

"My parents would, yes," She giggled, and then gave a smile, "However, I'm sort of traveling right now, with my mentor. I don't think I can train with dirt tickling me, despite the fact that it does feel rather nice on the body." The filly nodded, agreeing with herself, sending more dirt flying through the hair from her mane.
"Yes, mister Vasu," Brioso replied, gesturing towards the direction of the river with a toss of her head; after all, that was where she came from. Suddenly, her stomach let out a loud growl; absorbed in having fun, she had ignored her stomach's protests for too long. She blushed, as if embarrassed by how loud the growl was. She looked downwards, her eyes closed as she tried to "salvage" the situation.
She paused for a minute before brightening up, "Why don't you come down to the river with me? I saw some clovers by the side of the river just now, and its a patch that is too big for me to finish by myself!" She chuckled, giving a huge grin, "They're my favorite food."

"Yes!" he exclaimed at her offer, a bit too excitedly. Almost bursting in a bubbly foal like manor.
"I mean, sure! I'd like that Lil' Miss Brioso." he added, returning a fraction of his cool. His perma grin told all.
"Wait.." Firmly planting his four legs out, he braced himself and shook violently, sending dirt and fluff out to invade the air around him. Nothing like a good shake before you hit the road!
"There. Now I'm ready. And who doesn't love clover?? He pranced over to her. "Lead the way Missy. If your going to rinse off though, I suggest you not do that on a full stomach. Might upset your tummy." He stuck her tongue out at her playfully. What a brilliantly fun little filly she was. It made Vasu' feel young again. Not that he ever acted differently anyways...just that he was comfortable being himself.

"I thought so," Brioso grinned at his comment on clovers; she knew that she will never be able to stay away from them the moment she tried her first one. It was delicious, chewy and sweet! The thought of it made the filly salivate a little, but she tried not to show it. She closed an eye and stepped back a few steps, laughing a little when Vasu shook the dirt off; was that how she looked like when she did that?
"Nobody can resist clovers!" She said in a confident manner as she trotted towards the river, the same way she had came. Her tail swishing happily from side to side; it wasn't long before the sound of running water became louder and more obvious, and the river itself came into view. At once, the filly galloped and jumped in, liking the loud "splash" that comes with it.
Once in the water, she saw the dirt that was on her a moment ago being carried away by the running water, and she shook about to help clean herself. Silently, she was thankful that the water only went up to her neck and not over her head... Those rivers could potentially drown her. Ducking her head underwater a few times to clean her mane, Brioso only climbed up to dry land when she was satisfied with herself.
"There we go!" She exclaimed before shaking the water off her body, sending it flying in all directions like she did with the dirt.
