Menelaus stretched in his new founded territory. Well not his but, he called it by that. It had a lovely patch of field and some water and a forest. What more could a wolf ask for! Well at this point. He was looking for a friend.
The breeze was light and the terrain was soft from a recent rainfall making his paws squish into it. He was content with the days turn out. The soft ground made him feel more comfortable and thus made him one happy wolf! His eye's shone happily and he padded over to the small pond he called his water. There he dipped his lighter grey head to grab a quick drink. He'd been relaxing previously after having gotten a small kill and needed something to clear his throat.

 Chivosi had left Merril still asleep in thier shared den, the beta female had plans to lead them both to Akiiki Chibale lands sometime in the near future but Chivosi had awoken earlier and true to her nature had left for some wandering.
Padding down a game trail she yawned, it felt like one of those lazy days - where the forest was damp and cozy after a rain. Everything smelled freasher and everything looked brighter. Breaking the treeline and blinking in the sudden influx of sunlight she suddenly found herself stareing across the clearing at an unknown male. He was drinking at the moment but as the breeze was blowing her scent towards him she was fairly certain he'd notice her soon - if he hadn't already. Best to just go ahead and make herself known then she figured.
"Hello there!"

The air blew gently bringing with it a light scent growing stronger and then a voice. He turned from his watering hole to spot a female wolf approaching him. "Hello." He called back. His mouth was still wet from his drink and the words weren't very loud, he called again in a more pleasant tone. He had remained standing, tail low and eye's averted as per the custom of greeting a wolf. He didn't want to mean any threat.

Chivosi wagged her tail slightly at his greeting, she was a friendly sort and reading his posture she determined if nothing else that he wasn't aggressive. That was relief - nothing ruined a sunny morning like this more then meeting up with some nasty neighbor.
He had a pretty Grey shading to his coat and Chiv rather thought him fairly noble looking as she padded closer, her steps unhurried and easy until she came to stop a few paces away and sank to her haunches.
"Forgive me I would have introduced myself already - but it seemed somewhat uncouth to yell it across the clearing. I'm Chivosi, do you live here or just passing through?"

Menelaus smiled sweetly to the fem now standing with him. The morning was still calm as ever. He never minded having wolves approach them, so long as they meant well and this one did. "It's nice to meet you Chivosi." He had a little trouble saying her name at first, an impediment seemed doused onto him and he giggled in embarrassment slightly but, eventually got it.
"Mine is Menelaus." His smile didn't falter once in this conversation. "How are you this fine morning?" He asked. his voice gentle and welcoming. He hadn't had a conversation in a loong time. In fact he hadn't seen a wolf in a while. Being a lone wolf was rather lonely at times.

"You can call me Chiv if you prefer...many others find it easier to recall. I'm fairly well - as you said its a fine morning for a stroll"
She offered having taken note of his stumble on her name. It wasn't surprising, it was a rather odd name which even she could admit.
"Menelaus.."
She rolled the name off her tongue to try it and tipped her head to the side slightly as though pondering it over for a few moment.
"It's a handsome name, does it mean anything?"

He smiled. "Chiv." He said it to himself quietly and then gazed to her as she repeated his name. Her voice was much sweeter and made his name seem like candy. "Withstanding the people. I guess you could say I'm stubborn." He laughed lightly, out loud an sits himself down. He'd been wandering and was rather tired. "Sit and stay awhile, you're the first wolf I've seen in quite sometime." His eye's almost seemed said for just a moment but, the sadness vanishes. He had only recently discovered this loneliness and it was very troublesome.

Chiv gave him a quirky little grin as he remarked upon his name- it had a curious meaning although she admited to herself that she hardly knew this fellow and he could very well be what he stated - Stubborn.
"Stubborn is not always a bad thing"
She remarked after a few moments glancing out over the water as his eyes took on a sad tone - she didn't want to intrude and she didn't know him well enough yet to ester him about why he looked so sad for those few moments. Turning back and gave him a cheery look.
"Ah well that I suppose I can do, I don't have any plans in the foreseeable future. What brings you to these parts?"

This companion was very nice indeed, her pelt was eye-catching and voice sweet as could be he was happy to hear her want to stay. "I was just wandering. Got not much else to do with my days really. Eat, sleep and run." He wasn't sure what more to say but, outlining his life like that it seemed a bit boring. He laughed to himself slightly. He'd had his share of busy days, meet and greets with a couple bears mistaken as mounds of dirt and the likes. He'd grown up to find disaster.
"What about you?" He asked, not wanting to pry but, simply restated her question. His eye's had drifted to where she had stared just moments ago and he blinks lightly. The lake seemed to go on farther then he'd thought.

Chivosi listened quietly as Menelaus described something very familiar, it seemed she'd run across a fellow wanderer in her wanderings - that thought made her chuckle slightly and she decided to share this thought with her fellow wayward companion.
"Well Menelaus..it seems you've run across a fellow wanderer in your wanderings, I'm fairly new to these lands as well...met a few wolves a rather scraggly fellow named Rend pointed me towards an abandoned Den I've been staying in along with a nice female named Merril whose intent on heading towards a pack we heard of called Akiki Chibale or some such"
She shook her head and fluffed her fur somewhat realizing just how much she'd prattled on.
"Well look at me just blabbering away"

Menelaus gave a small smile and a nod, he wasn't alone in the world of traveling, he knew that but, to hear made him feel less alone. "I've never had a traveling companion before. It's new to hear a wolf traveling with someone, well.. let alone hear a wolf at all." His voice got a tad lonely but, he didn't let that sink to deep. "There's a pack near here?" He asked, now real curious as to why he hadn't seen or heard any wolves, perhaps they were a bit farther then he was suspecting.

"I can't say I've disliked traveling with Merril, although to be honest it's only been a few days - we sort of bumbled into one another along a river a while off, as for the pack - I honestly can't say we were only given a direction in which to travel"
Chiv once more heard that lonely tone in Menelaus' voice and this time she couldn't help but ask after it - at least a little.
"If you don't mind me asking...is there a reason you travel alone?"

Menelaus gave a small yawn that would have been great had he not had company. He wasn't much to tired but, traveling had a sort of 'if you're stopped why not rest' take to it. "The luck you have!" He smiles charmingly and the smile almost falters when he asks her if he ahs a reason traveling alone.
"'Cause I've always been alone." He says to her, his eye's averted to the ground and tail moving to his side. "I had family and such but, can't remember a darn thing about any of 'em." He almost seemed angry a moment but, not at anyone else but, himself. He was frustrated as any wolf would be when not knowing things. It actually occurred in every species. A lack of knowledge is frustrating. "I've been a lone since I was a pup, got used to it I s'pose but, meeting you reminds me of what it's like not to be a lone." He gazes up to her and smiles sweetly. He wanted to make sure she knew he was truly enjoying his company and didn't want her to think being with her hurt him.

Chiv stretched slightly before lying down, head on her paws, as she listened to him speak, it seemed to her the poor soul was suffering from the lonliness which struck all travelers from time to time. She knew it was hardly a plesant expirience.
"I've felt like that a time or too, this land however seems quite full of wolves - I've run into quite a few in my short time here"
She paused unsure if Menelaus traveled because he choose to, or like her had never quite found a place were settling down felt right.
"You could always come along with us to this pack we're supposed to be meeting - from what we've heard it sounds like a fairly nice place"
Chiv doubted that merril would mind another traveling companion.

Menelaus followed suit and laid down. "Traveling with wolves again. It sounds like a treat!" He was all smiles now, not a single moment after his anger had frowned. Nor did he feel he would for a little bit. "Tell me about your traveling partner?" He asked, curious. He didn't mind Chiv but, he wasn't sure if he'd knock heads with the other.
