Savannah padded across the flower blooms, trotted onto the log bridge above the cavern and passed by the same dingy pond she'd grown up with. It had been days since Stormwind had announced that she and Astra would be leaving the pack, or as her mother had said, 'group'. She knew in her heart that the woman loved them all, but like herself, there was a wanderlust in her eyes that could never be satisfied with staying her any longer.
With her head held high, Savannah ventured on. Her chocolate mane was caught in brambles and it seemed only the green stripe up front was spared. She didn't care. Even though she couldn't hunt for herself and had no real work ethic, she was determined to start out on an epic journey for herself.
No longer was she a jumpy child, but a fun loving adult. She still held that same spark that had annoyed her mother to no end. Yet, her mind was as sharp as the fiercest of hunters, even if she lacked their grace.
"Squirrel!" It had been so long since she'd seen meat that it was without thinking that she yelled, causing the small mammal to jump and scurry away from the larger predator. She chased after it, keeping close on it's tail with her mouth opened wide until it jumped onto a tree. Her snout connected with the trunk and with a loud yelp, Savannah landed on her backside with tears in her eyes.

((I hope you don't object, but I'm going to assume that both their families stayed in about the same area, so they've grown up as really good friends. ^^ )) "Squirrel!"
The call rang out, and Laurus's ears pricked up. He paused in his examination of the frog that cowered before him, and a grin spread onto his face. He stifled it as soon as it arose, but... He really couldn't keep from smiling. Savannah had stumbled onto something...
Letting the amphibian hop away in terror, Laurus loped in the direction of the shout, a small smile creeping onto his face as he did so. He hadn't seen Savannah since... the day before yesterday? Maybe even the day before that. They rarely went so long without at least passing each other in the forest... Not without a word in advance that they wouldn't be in the area.
Laurus had begun to wonder if Savannah had wandered off in search of adventure...
He'd begun to wonder if he'd ever see her again.
But those worries had vanished as soon as that one word drifted to his ears...
Laurus sped up a little, eager to see his best friend... And - as he thought to himself when he heard the sounds of little sniffles - to comfort her.
"What have you done this time Savannah?" he grinned tiredly as he finally spotted the young female sitting on the ground, tears in her eyes. He took in the situation; her tears, the small scrape on her snout, and the squirrel that was now scurrying up the trunk of a nearby tree.
"You ran into a tree again, didn't you?"

(Thats cool. :3)
Savannah sniffled and tried her best to hide her shame, but she could never really do that around Laurus. He was so smart and he saw through everything, which made life really difficult sometimes. Like, the time she tried to give him a funny looking fish for his birthday and the spikes on it cut her tongue all up. He wouldn't have done that, but even covered in her own blood, Savannah still thought it was cool.
She grinned sheepishly, tilting her head to the side on a sigh before looking back up into the tree. "I got hungry and I thought I could catch it, but I miscalculated again." Saying that she'd completely freaked and ran after it like some hatchling would just prove everyone right.
"I-I did not run into the tree!" Scoffing, she leaned her head back with a dramatic huff. "I was...I was attacked. This big animal came out of nowhere, attacked me and after showing it how brave I am, it ran off." Her chest puffed up proudly. Bolstering herself up was a good way to build self-esteem and large egos. Something of which Savannah was learning all to quickly could mess with ones image of themselves.
"And what were you doing that had you so close? Chopping up frogs again?"

Laurus chuckled at her use of the term 'miscalculated'. He could imagine what her 'calculations' had been... "Squirrel=FOOD!"
"Attacked, huh?" he grinned playfully and strolled over to the tree in question, "then... how do you explain the snout-shaped section on this tree trunk where the bark is disturbed?" A broad, smug smile spread across his face.
It faded at the mention of frogs.
"Not 'chopping up'. Disecting," he frowned, "And... No... Not yet... I was trying to catch it, still... And I had it cornered, too! But then I heard you making a ruckus and figured I'd better come supply any medical aid you required..."
He sighed and sat on the ground, casually glancing up toward the treetops. "And anyway... I've been in the area since yesterday..." he glanced toward Savannah, forehead wrinkling. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you in... a while."
Sixty-seven hours, forty-three minutes, and an insignificant number of seconds.
But who was counting?
((AW!!! Such an expression of nerdy-love!!! >.< *tackles Laurus* Oh, and by the way? I need him to solve some kind of mystery at some point. >.< Wouldn't he make such a good sherlock holmes? NO! WAIT! ... I'll save that for his kid. xd ))

Savannah's mind was reeling. When Laurus talked in his 'fancy' way, it made her brain hurt and even after all of her lessons, she still didn't know what he was saying half the time. She stuck her tongue out the side of her mouth while she stared at him, intently watching his mouth until he started speaking her language again.
"I wasn't making a ruckus, I was catching food!" She growled, slapping her tail down on the ground in irritation. "Thats more productive than your disections anyday."
Still a bit peeved, she turned her head to the side, tossing the lime green stripe across the bullseye surrounding her right eye. She was rigid and still, something that usually meant trouble for anyone around her. "I've been scouting the surrounding area for the best trail out of here. Momma, Astra, and Hoku have already left for their own adventures, so its my turn to find mine."
Though, she was going to miss him.
Watching meteor showers, playing tag, getting unstuck- She liked being near him, when he wasn't so irritating. Part of her didn't want to leave because that meant leaving him, but her paws were getting itchy. There was no way she could stay for long and be happy.
(So cute! <3 -snuggles Laurus- Ya, I'd definately save that for the kid. The adventuring side on Savannah's family plus Laurus' intellect would make for an excellent mystery solver. 8O)

((YEAH!!! >.< *also snuggles Laurus*))
Laurus suddenly grew very rigid. She... She really was leaving? But... But...
"Well... You... Um..." He was speechless. He hadn't REALLY expected that she'd leave... At least, he had assumed she would wait a while... He frowned pathetically, "Do you have to go?"
((Sorry for short post. Gotta go help Mom do the dishes. xp ))

Savannah's head drooped and slowly, she turned back to face him. He seemed so...so very not Laurus. It had been her mission in life to make him happy and here she was, making him sad again. "N-not really...but it's gonna be so sad here. I'll be all alone, without my family beside me."
There were plenty of people in the area that she liked, some that she could see herself living with, but nobody could replace what had left. "What 'bout you, Laurus? Are you going to stay here?"
She leaned her head in, paws inching forward while her eyes filled with tears. Suddenly, she was very stupid for ever wanting to go. Now she was torn and it was so very, very sad. "Your momma and papa are still here. And your brother too." Although, she hadn't seen more than a glimpse of any of them, she could tell the bond was deep. Like her own family.

((Hehe. Before they go off to join the Stone Compass pack... We need a meet-the-family rp... Or at least a Simia/Laurus/Savannah rp. Simia needs to tease her son. whee Or did we want to smush that into this rp?))
"I'd be beside you," Laurus frowned...
His frown deepened at her question. "I... I don't know..." he looked up at the sky, down at the grass... He'd already studied almost everything around here... Maybe....
Maybe it was time to leave.
Maybe he could leave with Savannah.
Come to think of it, Laurus was getting a little old to be hanging around with his parents... Maybe it was time that he struck off on his own...
Er, well, not on his own... He'd go with Savannah of course...
"Oh, don't cry, Princess," he hurried forward to comfort her, absent-mindedly using her nickname from their childhood, when he'd been her blue knight... They still played the game sometimes, mostly at Savannah's urging...

(We could blend that into this rp, if you'd like. :3 They could be ready to leave and BAM, theres momma. 8O)
Savannah's eyes widened with shock. She'd entertained the concept of him joining her for a while, but who in their right mind would leave their family voluntarily? And for someone else, no less? The idea had seemed to absurd to her and yet here he was, saying it so casually.
Smiling at her nickname, Savannah sniffled and leaned in closer to him, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Would you really leave everything you hold dear behind for me, Sir Knight?" She whispered sadly, closing her eyes.
What would her mother say, her leaning all over a male like this? Or her brother? Too bad she really didn't care anymore.
"The journey will be long and some of it won't be pleasant at all. You would be getting yourself in deep by coming along with me."

"Well, erm..." Laurus felt heat rising to his cheeks... But it had to be said. No matter how humiliating and un-scientific and MUSHY it sounded in his head, "I, er... I wouldn't be leaving everything I hold dear behind..." He leaned his own head against hers, mostly on instinct.
"If the journey's long then... That means we'll be passing through a lot of places that I can study... And... Even if some of it isn't pleasant... a lot of it will be, I think... ifi'mwithyou," he mumbled the last few words awkwardly.
If his family could see him now. He could just imagine his mother's teasing... After all, here he was, with this beautiful female's head on his shoulder, saying... things...
It really was very humiliating and unscientific...
But Laurus didn't really mind it...

Savannah's ears pricked up and her heart began to beat faster. Suddenly, her legs were very shaky. "Laurus?" She whispered, unsure of exactly what he was trying to say, but so very happy he was saying anything.
This was from the heart. He didn't want to leave her and she didn't want to leave him. It was something she'd yearned for ever since she'd met him even if she hadn't known at the time. Raising her head slowly, she let the tears flow down her cheeks as her lips quivered.
"Knight of blue." She said softly. Her paw lifted from the ground slowly and rested on his. "So long as I'm with you, the sun will always shine. Til the day you tire of me I'll always be your Princess and I'll do my best to keep both of us safe."
Breathing deeply, Savannah steeled her nerves for the rest. This bit was so much harder to say than the rest, but she knew it had to get out. She knew without a doubt that the weight she had felt in her chest was fear. Fear didn't control Stormwind, or her mighty bloodline and as a descendant, it wouldn't control her.
"Laurus, I love you."

"Oh, don't cry, please," Laurus nuzzled her cheek. He wasn't exactly sure why she was crying, but... He hated seeing her cry for any reason.
He fell silent as she spoke, playing the role of his Princess. He smiled slightly at the end of her speech. "Princess... I think you have it backwards," he corrected gently, "So long as I'm with You, the sun will always shine. Til the day you tire of me, I'll always be your Blue Knight, and I'll do my best to keep both of us safe." And he hoped that day would never come; the day when she'd grow tired of him...
It took a moment for Savannah's last few words to register in Laurus's mind. It took another moment for him to control his rapidly beating heart. There was only one thing he could ever say to that, and he knew it was right, even as he said it.
"I love you, Savannah."

[You should shoot me, honestly, for being this slow and for such a short post. D8]
"Backwards?" Savannah whispered, pouting a bit. Was he going to take it back? Reject her? Her heart just couldn't take it if he said anything like that, but the more he talked the more at ease she felt. She knew her eyes were bubbling with tears and that she was chewing on her lip in a very undignified way, but she couldn't help it.
"Laurus!" The petite dragon pressed herself up closer to him than she could have ever thought possible and rubbed the side of her snout up against his so furious that it gained warmth. "You....a-and me and we...We're together, right? I mean, together-together?"
