User ImageKali peered through the grasses and trees and the large green leaves that she knew surrounded the border of this pride. Melusine, the bright orange female she had met before, had disappeared into this area when they had met quite a while ago. The lioness had come back here every few days, just to see and observe, and in hopes of meeting Melusine again. Perhaps another meeting would allow her entrance into the pride?

Since the last time, before she had left, Melusine and Kali had talked about going to see one of the 'Queens.' So maybe it was just taking the orange girl a little bit more time to find an audience with the Queens? Perhaps that was the reason that Kali sat here so diligently, day after day, only leaving to hunt or bathe or drink or sleep at night.

Perhaps, perhaps.

For now, however, Adaness'kali sat at the edge, looking in, curious as to what lay beyond the greenery staring back out at her. Curious to know if this was the jungle pride the Seer had spoken of, and if so, she was curious to find what awaited there for her.

User ImageKanti was being herself, she seemed to never grow up and how she got this way, well we will never know. She didn't seem to resemble her parents in any way personality wise but she was happy and that's all that mattered. She should have also been doing something productive, hunting, helping with the cubs, anything that needed doing but no, instead she was running around, pouncing rocks, chasing insects, the things you would expect of a cub.

Kanti needed to grow up.

It seemed as if the white lioness was growing into a beautiful adult, though of course she was not brightly coloured like most of the beautiful lionesses. She wasn't one to really care though, is she had been given a lower ranking in the pride then she had, it wasn't anything to moan about.

Kanti had without realising left her clan lands and got close to leaving the prides borders. In fact if it wasn't for the strange lioness that snapped her out of her playful state she may have just done that. She shook her head a little and tried to get a grip of herself. What did she think she was doing? Instead of leaving or saying something she just stared at the female wondering if she had seen her before and what she was doing out here. Kanti wasn't even suppose to be out here!

Just like that, the pure white lioness bounded out of the trees that Kali was so diligently watching. Well, she was almost white. The striking orange of her tail stood out among the greenery surrounding them.

"Hello," the green lioness stated clearly and calmly. "Are you a member of the pride that lives around here? The one that resides in the jungle?" If so, then perhaps this lioness could bring her inside the pridal borders once more. Melusine, the other lioness, hadn't really done much for Kali when they had met before. But that was fine. Kali could be patient.

"If so, I have an interest to join this pride. Would you be able to help me?"

Although, if this lioness was as young-hearted and playful as she appeared, and therefore child-like, the green and brown female wasn't so sure if the other would be much help at all. Wouldn't the strict (at least that's what she thought of them) queens not look down on this situation? Or else judge Kali because of it?

She wasn't quite sure what to make of the other female but as she asked to enter the prides lands Kanti's smile lit up.

"Sure! Come with me!" She seemed to dance around in a circle before disappearing back in the tree's, her head then appeared again.

"Follow me! I am Kanti by the way!" She smiled widely as she spoke before vanishing again. She waited the otherside of the bushes to make sure that the other lioness was following before she ran off and led her further into the pride. Kanti was sure that there would be no issue with her on the lands. If she wanted to stay why would there be any issues? Kanti was just sure that everything would be perfectly fine!

Finally! A pride member that walked off the borders just in time for Kali to be there waiting. And she been there waiting for a while. It was nice to see that her 'patience' had paid off.

"Nice to meet you Kanti," the natural-colored lioness said, bowing her head and following the white girl into the trees as she disappeared back into where she came from. "I'm Kali." Might as well just give the shortened version of her name. Why her mother had given the lioness a mouthful, she didn't know, and didn't care.

Unknown to her, Kanti's thoughts were complete opposite of Kali's. She was worrying why they would let her stay, when they met her. According to Melusine, the bright orange female she had met before, this particular pride was rather particular about their members. Bright colors tended to do the best in rankings, and although Kali wouldn't particularly mind a low rank, she hoped that her personality and abilities would let her push past that rank.

At least, she would try.

"Nice to meet you Kali." She smiled as she spoke. She was a bouncy kinda girl, always rather enthusiastic which was strange and she wasn't really like her mother much at all.

"So how come you want to join? Oh and what clan will you join? I am in the Chatri clan and I have one of the lowest ranks, a Shikar-i but I don't mind. Some of my siblings are higher ranked because they are all really bright and I am not but it's life and I like my rank." She rambled a little and wondered if maybe the lioness would or wouldn't be lowest ranking. Her colours were dull but at least she had colours. Kanti just had her tail fluff but she really didn't mind. She took life as it came and she loved it.

Kali tilted her head to one side curiously. "Clans? How many are there?" She hadn't heard that there were different 'clans' in this pride She hadn't heard that there were clans period. "What are the different clans like?" Maybe some were more brightly colored than others. Maybe some had different beliefs/rituals than the others.

"I, uh, was told that I could be Seen in this pride. I met a Seer when I was younger and he told me about a jungle pride that I belonged to. So I started to journey." She shrugged simply. That was that. The Seer in question had been wary but helpful to tell Kali what she needed to do. She had used her siblings as a little excuse, but once they all grew up, she was gone. And she hadn't looked back.

"What is the Shikar-i rank? Do you think that's the rank I will have once I join?" Perhaps because she was not as bright as the others in the pride? That explained Kanti's ranking.

"Erm I don't know much about the other clans but I think, from what I have seen certain colours are set for different clans. Like one clan there is lots of bright greens and pinks and another clan there is lots of blues. There are other things I am sure but I generally don't pay much attention so not much use I am afraid." She smiled as she spoke wondering whether it was really bad that she didn't know much about the other clans.

As she spoke about being Seen in the pride Kanti was listening but had no idea what she was talking about. She didn't really know much about seers, she wasn't one she knew that and so it was enough for her to know they exist.

"It's the lowest female rank. There are two ranks above it neither you will be in, or you might but your rather natural looking so I think you will have the Shikar-i rank but you might not, you will find out. The males have the lowest ranking. They look after the cubs and stuff." She attempted to talk explain as much as she could. She wasn't about to judge the ranking Kali would have but she has rather dull colours, though pretty. Kanti wasn't sure but then ranking had never been an issue for her. She was happy whatever.

So this is where the colors came in, she thought to herself. The brighter color you were, the higher rank and better clan you were put into. Kali smiled politely back and nodded her head. "I understand. You've already given me more information than I had originally."

The possibility of having the lowest rank of females was disappointing, but she came to grips about it. That's what she got for her nice brown pelt. However, now that she knew that males were actually the lowest of the low rankings made her smile. Right were they belonged, under the females.

She continued to follow Kanti deeper into the jungle and then they came to the center, and Kali could only look around with a smile on her face. "Have you been here your whole life, Kanti?" For right now, she couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

"Yep was born here. My sisters all have higher ranking then I do, apart from my brothers of course. I don't mind though, why would I?" She smiled to herself not overly sure where to go now because well Kanti had never met the queens and kinda liked not having met them.

"You like it here then?" Kanti didn't know if the female had been hanging about for long or not so she wasn't sure if the female would like it. It was for some and not for others.

Wasn't this pride based on pelt color as a rank? Wouldn't Kanti wish she had been born a brighter color, like her sisters, so she could be higher on the food chain (so to speak)? Kali cocked her head at the other female but didn't ask. To each their own.

"I do like it here. Is this where we stop? Or do we keep going onwards?" She would like to meet a queen, or even both, and get her acceptance into the pride underway. Kali was eager to call herself a member. And perhaps once she was, she would meet the others of the pride and learn even more.

Kanti smiled, she would never wish her life any different as she was very happy with life as it was and she never planned for anything to be different.

"Erm I have never been to the queens I think they find you themselves. Maybe you should choose a clan to join and stuff then you may find them. I am sure you will be accepted by the other females, some of the higher ranking females aren't all that nice but you get use to them, most are nice though." She smiled not sure if what she was saying was actually true as well... she knew of females who were nice and who weren't so she assumed it to be all the same really.

Kali wondered why that was. Surely the Queens had assistants to help find the new members and therefore make the whole process easier, but she would have done it differently. Oh well, it wasn't her pride, so she couldn't do much about it.

She smiled and nodded at Kanti thankfully. "I think I'll do that, then. I'll ask around and see which clans I find most appealing. Thank you so much for your help, Kanti. It was nice meeting you." They would probably see each other around some days, and maybe even exchange greetings. Kali would be, after all, indebted to the other lioness for showing her around and introducing her into the pride.

And now it was her turn to simply explore and see who all she met in this new environment.

Kanti smiled and nodded at the female.

"I shall see you around, good luck finding a clan!" She smiled and turned to leave. She felt like doing something really really random.
