1. Volunteers (to assist if I need it, am out of town, etc.)
2. Participants (To be a part of my mast plan/game/plot)
3. Advice
4. Feedback
5. A bit of determination and diligence on my part.
So I'm going to write out a situation, and I'd like you all to tell me if you would be willing to help, would be willing to be part of it, (volunteers do not have to participate, it may be best to have some who don't), anything you think I may want to consider or add, and whether it's feasable/worthwhile.
The situation would be this:
In the modern day, the American economy was destroyed when China closed its borders to free trade, leaving the Americas without manufacturing, and without a reasonable economy. Despite safeguards, the world felt this. Wars began, once more for resources and land. The fighting was harsh, and terrible. For some time, the battles continued, countries building empires, being destroyed, and being born. The world changed endlessly, warfare unlimited, except for the constant fear of nuclear weapons.
Then, everything began to stabilize. A number of nations finally seemed content with the bloodshed. They had all evolved unique and dangerous forms of warfare, which they specialized in. And each was led by a warlord, a veritable god of war, who commanded the course of each war in turn.
Suddenly, one of these warlords died. And left a land empty of power, or nation, or defense. Every warlord in the world moved to secure more land and resources for their own use/empire/cause. Thus came into being the current war.
Okay, that's the story. What I see as being needed, is a way for it to be determined what each person would be. Yes, you'd all be warlords. But who. And what would your army's strength be? What would be the personality of your army? Would it be light, fast raiders, or a heavy, unstoppable juggernaught? I'll elaborate in a later post, after I find out exactly how this is recieved.
But I would run it in a certain manner. It would be similar to risk, in that each warlord has a domain, and lands. These lands produce armies, and so forth. But also, each warlord has limited information. Due to spies, counterintelligence, and other things, each would have to find out about his/her foes, and defend from the attempts of the others to find out such things. Each 'army' would have it's own statistics, available to the warlord, or a very well informed enemy. The conquest would begin. That's where it gets choppy. I know that I want to run it similar to Diplomacy, where all the moves are made to a single source, and all at once. In this way, your enemy moves at the same time you do. You may have an army fail to attack an enemy, simply because it wasn't there to be attacked. A highly mobile army may make use of this.
But, how would the battles themselves be fought? How would the statistics be decided? I need input on this. I'll keep thinking on this, but I wanted a general reaction from you all first.
The things each warlord could have for aesthetic purposes would be their own name, coat of arms/banner/emblem, colors, and, if things go really well and a massive battle occurs, I likely will write out a story of what happens. I do not say that these will be well written. Indeed, I fail at any dialogue. So likely it would be a play-by-play account of how the battle ran, what happened where. If things go really well, each army unit would be able to take a name, as well.
Alright. I've talked enough. What are your thoughts? sweatdrop
