Ban'ma walked through the plains with her head tilted in up childish awe. She padded lightly, a little skip in her step as the sun gleamed all around her on what little vegetation could be found other than the immense expanse of tall grass. The day couldn't have been happier and yet, she was terminanly confused.
Where was she?
She'd never been separated from her family in her life and even with the little outings they did, she never thought to memorize the paths. Father always showed her which way to go and now....She was on her own. Her tail curled in around her striped legs while she turned her head to the right, looking for something, someone to point her in a direction. Hunger tore at her stomach and even if she wanted to take down some poor creature, she couldn't.
"Hello?" She called out, but her voice died on the dry air. Nothing was around her for miles but vegetation and open spaces. Ban'ma sighed, her ears tilting down. "Oh, bother."

Nia was bored. Not only was the leopard alone, she had already hunted and the rabbit which hung from her strong jaws had been too easy a catch. Was there anyone in these godforsaken plains to amuse her or at least to ease her boredom?
Suddenly Nia's sensitive ears picked up the sound of another. The leopard's paws padded softly on the tall grasses as she headed south. There standing in the tall grasses looking hopelessly lost was a female lion. Keeping the hare tight in her jaws, Nia lowered her body in preparation for a pounce. Though she realized that many hated other species, Nia didn't care about species.
Hopefully this lioness thought the same as she bounded out of the grass to land next to her.

Ban'ma's general senses were lacking and as such, she didn't pick up that she'd been spotted by another predator. Still completely aloof, she trotted a couple steps down in a general direction and was about to attempt to climb the tree there when a leopard popped up out of nowhere. She did what most cubs did in this situation.
Ban'ma screamed.
Her legs failed her as she scrambled back, tumbling over jutted tree roots and landing on her back in the foliage. Dark blue eyes bobbed up with her head as she stared the creature down, fright causing her to be jumpy and cutting her recovery time in half. By the time she was standing again, she was half-crouching with her ears laid flat back against her head. " W-what was tha- Ewww, that is so gross!" Her eyes finally spotted the dead hare in the animal's mouth.

Out of all the things Nia had expected, screaming and falling were not in the top list. Still it was quite amusing that this one was such a screamer. But her landing didn't look quite comfortable...
Nia purred in humor though worry reflected in her golden eyes. Dropping the hare the leopard moved to the lioness. "Are you okay?" Yet a gasp came from her throat at the lion.
"Gross? This?" Using her front paw, Nia pushed the hare towards Ban'ma. "But it's food, what else would I eat? Surely you have hunted before as well." Though it really didn't help that the hare squished a bit and blood was already on her paws from this recent kill.

Ban'ma swooned and she had to take a deep breath so she wouldn't faint. It was bad enough that she had the dead hare in her mouth, but now she was making a complete mess of it underneath her paw and the blood... "Stop doing that or you'll get blood everywhere!"
So nasty, so very very nasty. She wanted to address the creature, but the fact was, she didn't know for sure what it was or what gender it could be. The jewelry suggested nobility, but the over all design could have been any gender. Reasoning told her that she was being rude enough already with her little spaz fit and she needed to bring herself back up in the mind of this black cat.
Although, she did scuttle away from the hare as far as possible without leaving altogether. "You can eat anything that you like but not....not that." She motioned to the dead hare. "Its covered in dirt and who knows what kind of diseases it has." The lioness tilted her head in confusion. "Hunt? Me?" The idea of her tracking down her own food was laughable and it showed with her guffaw. "I've never hunted a day in my life."

"What's wrong with blood?" Nia looked at this lioness with surprise. Out of all the different types of lions and leopards she had met...this girl was a first. Her mouth opened in astonishment at the thought of not eating the rabbit. "Aren't we all covered with dirt?" The leopard forced a small laugh, "Thank you, but though it may disgust you I don't kill just to push it aside. I hunt for food and don't plan to waste this."
Nia's tail lashed out and the leopard growled at the guffaw. Was she taking the idea of hunting as some bad sport? "How could you survive without hunting?" Her tone softened a bit as she pointedly looked around the lioness, "I don't see any servants or poor family members here hunting for you. Do you survive on air alone?"

Ban'ma stilled at the mention of family. The sting of her brother's betrayal was fresh in her mind, along with the guilty hope that he was still alive. She looked at the creature sadly and sighed, looking at the dead hare nauseusly. Did he hunt like this?
"I rely on the kindness of others and in turn, baby sit their young ones while they go about their day. By the time the meat reaches my mouth, it has already been stripped of its...appearance." Her eyes closed as a wave of dizziness hit her. The overpowering stench of blood was taking its toll on her. Swaying, she hunkered lower to the ground and urged her stomach not to empty itself.
"Please, just take it and go away. No, wait-" She couldn't sent the lioness away just yet. The plains were just as vast as they were a few moments ago when she had been alone and she needed help to get out. "Do something with it. Its making me ill."

"You're..." Nia paused searching for any word that completely fit this lioness. Nothing really truly seemed suitable at the moment so the leopard settled on a simple title. "Very weird for a lion." How could one just go about life living on the kindness of others? Especially when such a thing was so hard to find anymore.
"Do something with it?" Though Nia knew that she could've easily buried the hare to leave it to rot, her hunger and cruel humor won the battle. "Alright." Without warning the leopardness dug her claws into the worn meat and started to dig in with her sharp teeth. Bones crunched and between each bite more blood gushed, staining Nia's mouth a crimson red. She ate quickly and soon felt full. With a purr Nia licked her lips and tossed the hare easily to the side where it disappeared in the grass. Others could find the carcass and take care of the rest.

"Weird?" Ban'ma closed her mouth quickly. Her voice had been very high pitched and a tad bit squeeky, but really now. How was she weird? At least she wasn't the one planning to ingest a dead animal right off the ground.
With each bone shattering, gushing moment, Ban'ma felt her world spin. For the first couple of seconds she watched in helpless horror as the other female dug into her meal. Tear. Rip. Squirt. The longer it lasted, the more sick she became at her stomach. She was sure that she was going to lose the lunch she'd worked so hard to carouse that day. Turning away from the scene, the lioness flicked her ears back and tried to block it all out of her mind.
Unfortunately, that meant passing out entirely and she promptly crumpled into the grass.

Nia groaned. Out of all the things she imagined, passing out wasn't one of them. Stretching the leopard approached the heap of lioness. Hesitation crossed her features and after a quick wipes to clean her face, Nia sat by the lioness. "Hey, hey!" Nia bent down and nudged Ban'ma with a clean paw.
"You can't just pass out on me!" Tail lashing, Nia nudged Ban'Ma again and again. "Come on!"

The lanky lioness twitched in her sleep, kicking one paw out to press against Nia. In her minds eye the world was solid red. She was running, running to a nowhere that kept spiralling before her very eyes. It had her panting. Frantic and voiceless, Ban'ma called out into the loneliness. A figure appeared in the distance off to her right and as brief as this dream truly was, she knew she'd seen her brother.
"Ahhhhhhh!" Ban'ma's eyes snapped open and she agressively pushed Nia away before sitting up. Her ears were pinned against her head, tail wrapping around her hind quarters as she heaved out great breaths. Turning her head just the slightest, she saw a black pelt and screamed again before recognizing the scent. "Y-you! I-I just...and the...thing."

Nia scooted back from the force of Ban'ma's push with a startled growl. The leopard's eyes narrowed in annoyance, that would most likely leave a bruise. "What?" Regaining her balance Nia stood up tall and regal like despite the memory of the push.
Tilting her head the leopardess looked at Ban'ma with a growl. "I happened to toss that thing away, and I even cleaned myself before coming to look over at you!" Nia shook her head, "I was actually concerned about you!" Her tail lashed before settling back down to rustle the grass, "I don't get why you have to freak out like that. Jeez."

"That's not what I'm talking about!" Ban'ma snapped. She immediately felt guilty and shook her head, closing her eyes off to the leopardess. "I'm so...so very sorry. I-I don't know what came over me."
There really was no excuse for the way she acted. Lowering her head in shame, the lioness sighed. A comforting wind brushed her mane around on her eyes as it careened over the grasses. He would always be there to haunt her, tormenting her with visions of his dirty work, but she could never let that to her. The moment she did, he would win.
She stood up and was immediately her old self. "So, what say you to finding something to drink? My throat feels like someone tossed sand down it."

"Hey." Nia tilted her head before moving over to Ban'ma. The warmth of the grass below her paws softened each step as the leopard brushed her tail along Ban'ma's side. "Don't worry about it." Nia smiled softly despite the curiosity inside of her. What had the lion been talking about? If it had been her friend, Abrafo, then she would've tried to drag the information out of him. But this was a stranger, so she knew better than to ask...now.
Nia purred, "Finding a drink is fine by me. Only if you can keep up though, lion!" Smirking the leopard playfully tapped Ban'ma's face with her tail before running away. Surely this was the same direction she had found water in before...

Ban'ma's smile was a bright as the sun shining over head. She giggled like a cub when Nia tapped her face and tore off after her, clawless paws skidding a bit in the dirt. Her mind was like an Etch-a-Sketch; once shaken clean, nothing bothered her for the longest while. "Your not a cheetah, so I know I can catch you!" She called out. The grass rubbed up against her legs, shaking her nerves and forcing her to laugh.
Her paws landed in a puddle, making her squeel. "Ew, ew, ew!" She didn't have enough time to stop and pick the mud from between her toes, but it was nasty all the same. Each step made it squish. Oh, Gods above, wasn't there any clean place in the Savannah?
