i got to a pt finally in dunes (level 11) and melee'd....and enfeebled...and nuked... (i was the fil in for their blm), But i felt like i wasnt doign anythign to contribute to the group! All my enfeebles were resisted, all my sword hits missed, all my nukes hardly did any damage.....and by one mob i'd exhausted all my mp (i'm elvaan) sweatdrop
what am i doing wrong? or is it suppose to be like that...

if you are planning to sub blm, int gear is the way to go if you wanna do more damage with blm spells. you'll get better in time...heck even i have troubles getting my enfeebles to stick at lvl 33. i also equiped small bits of mp gear here an there to help me a lil with mp. the main reason why i subbed blm was for more mp pluss the mp conserv job trait. Funny thing is after i got subs an went to rdm i ended up having more mp at the end then a hume or taru of the same or simular job cause they kept mana burning. i also use melon pies...gives good int and gives 20 mp.

at lower lvl as rdm u really have no designated job, u can nuke, heal, and enfeeble. It also varies on u, my best friend is a 56 rdm who fights as well as does all her debuffs and refresh...I have no clue how she does it XD. My rdm is only 13, but I have all the int + junk on him, with a few MP+ and blm sub. I agree with Tiggy, get some int+ things and maybe a few MP+ things. Once u start gettin your skills capped out (ie. Elemental Magic, sword, enfeeble magic) you will see your nukes doing more, your sword hitting for more, more often, and your debuffs sticking more often and longer.

Polly I'll pay for your gear like i did with teh greaves and ermintes rings the +1 headpin and such for ya ^^ I'm working on getten you a pearl but no one is ever near me or you with a sac XD Ah well just /tell me when ya need stuff ^^ and if you are in dunes i can come and camp by ya to help heal and stuffz if ya want

Reguel Polly I'll pay for your gear like i did with teh greaves and ermintes rings the +1 headpin and such for ya ^^ I'm working on getten you a pearl but no one is ever near me or you with a sac XD Ah well just /tell me when ya need stuff ^^ and if you are in dunes i can come and camp by ya to help heal and stuffz if ya want I know and i love you for it heart I have pretty good items already for my rdm (though my sword probably need upgrading by now, not sure) BUt thanks for the help, rdm is kind of over whelming maybe i should get used to game more playign on other jobs to get used to it edit: I got a ls with requiemKnights (sp?) Its a pretty nice ls, i'll see if i can hold two ls's, or maybe you can get me one to play on my alt i made

yea at this level you really should have a ton of choices...but i found nuking to be hard even as a taru so i didn't really bother with it at such a low level, but i did heal anybody in my party that need it and i also fought. as for enfeebling.... well mine was so-so(i am a level 11 rdm only.... but i already know some stuff about it)
i think you should concentrate on healing and enfeebling the most.... thats if your sub is a blm but even with blm sub rdm nuking is terrible from the 11 levels i got with it lol
rdm being a blm replacement would be really hard from the way i see it

Till about level 40 RDM's have a bit of a difficult time getting a pt, well at about 35 Dispell is quite usefull against the evil crawlers that JUST WON'T DIE!!! ;_;
Anyway, yah at level 11 RDM's don't seem to be the best job, and once you get Refresh you might not like it, it's hard to time the cycle right. I've only have a pt with one good RDM when I was a BLM. Anyway, if your subbing BLM, get some INT+ gear, or if your subbing WHM (Which I suggest you do for the dunes pt's) get some MND+ gear. Most RDM's are asked to be main/back-up healers because that's what people see them as until Refresh. But keep enfeebling, you just might need your Enfeebling Magic skill level up. Take care! ^^

the key to RDM is being patient. RDM isn't about quickly kicking the mobs a**, its about outlasting it. As you lvl it, you get buffs like Blink, various elemental spikes, Phalanx, Stoneskin, and of course all the En-spells... enchanting your weapon will help to increase the amount of physical damage you do, and those other buffs help you to take less damage. Combine those 2 things with your MP and maybe a melee food, you are good to go. ANd like everyone else is saying, RDM will pwn at lvl 41! On my server at least (Lakshmi) you dont have a party past lvl 41 without a refresher (ie RDM or BRD). RDM is easily the most powerful job available, though i wonder if maybe that will change next summer when we get BlueMage ability. If you plan on taking RDM all the way, i suggest you lvl your NIN to 37, as no doubt people will want you subbing NIN for missions and BCNMs and such when you get up there in level. Good luck!

So they will have to take my rdm as it is...with blm...

TiggyChan i dont care what people say to me, nin was the reason i quit war, i wont let it make me quit another char. -_- So they will have to take my rdm as it is...with blm... i'm a whm so i prefer rdm's with blm sub so i can heal and they can do the enfeeblin/nuking so i can pay more attention to hp and buffs

I prefer a rdm/blm over rdm/whm or rdm/anything else, in pts that is. A rdm/blm benefits from more MP, better int for debuffs, and although u don't get divine seal or and -aga white magic, it really shouldn't be your job to cast those spells anyway

Besides i prefur not to main heal as a elvaan rdm less its a two nin tank pt confused which ya dont see to much cause people like to have different tanks or one war/thf and like ranger/thf for ranged attacks..idk i'm only 32 XD

rdm is a easy job i think. I hate blm so i sub whm which helps with enfeebling magic Blm subs only helps with causeing more dmg with magic spells <.< i can do it all Melee refresh heal and Magic brust you get the hang of it while you level ^.^
