At the end of E3 we usually reflect upon our view of each console and what E3 has done to change or enhance our views about each console. Last year's E3 left some bitter at all three consoles. What's your view this time?

First,
Here's what I don't like about each:

Wii: Neglects some less franchises (Donkey Kong, etc). I mean really, Now would be a perfect time for a new Donkey Kong that brings it back to it's former glory.

PS3+360} A good portion of their games tend to be way over the top IMO. This E3 makes me believe it even more. Really, does every game need presented as a "mini-epic"? Really. talk2hand

What did impress me:

Nintendo: Nintendo really stepped up and gave an excellent E3 conference. There are plenty of games on my wanted list. The best E3 conference by Nintendo in years. I applaud them.

Microsoft: Beatle appearances for Beatles: Rock Band. 'Nuff said. lol

Sony: They talked about FFXIV over 6 months before FFXIII hits the shelves! Even though I thought that was a bit tacky talking about that so soon, it was impressive seeing how motivated they are for it. PSP Go. While I think the PSP and PSP Go are unattractive looking handhelds, the PSP Go's offerings seem pretty neat.

Your turn. mrgreen

Nintendo: Overall Neglect for the core gamer, Wii Vitality Sensor? REALLY?!?

Sony: As neat as the motion sensor segment was, I still have yet to be convinced of the lasting importance of motion control.

Microsoft: I wasn't impressed with anything but the set.

For what impressed me...

Nintendo: They actually threw out SOME core games, SMG2 has me giddy.

Sony: Strong coverage of the PSP's future, I'm sure I haven't been the only PSP owner out there that has felt that the PSP has been getting neglected.

Microsoft: Their set looked nice.

Nintendo: Friend Codes and Storage, lack of HD.

Sony: PSP Software..

360: RRoD. XBL free? Too many multiplatform games from Sony trying to make their case.

What impressed me..

Nintendo: OMFG! METROID.

Sony: Good PS3 stuff, good PSP stuff.

360:...Uhhhh..Rock Band?

The bad:

Microsoft: Honestly, Natal. Seriously, it looked for the ost part like the PS2 Eye Toy. It only got intriguing when they showed off Oliver...but I can't really see how that would do anything for gaming EXCEPT for games like Oblivion...and that's a maybe.

Nintendo: Wii Vitality Sensor, wtf?! Also they completely brushed aside Zelda while getting giddy over the Charm Girls Club.

Sony: The Motion Controller. Not to say I wasn't intrigued and entertained but out of everything it was the thing I cared least about. Also, no footage of KH psp game.

The AWESOME:

Microsoft: Not a damn thing, but hey, at least they had some cool celebs there.

Nintendo: Nintendo's press conference didn't suck for once!! It was nice to see REAL games being showcased! Also, DS love. There are actually games coming out that I'm gonna nab.

Sony: Game, games, games, games, games!!! They showed the most games out of everyone and when it comes down to it, that's what ultimately matters for a consol: games. Good ones.

Also, I know this isn't a consol, but Sqaure Enix's press conference pissed me off. It was just 30min of Q&A about FF14!! scream

Feh, didn't watch E3, only kept up with Nintendo. So, I'm going to take the title literally.
Nintendo..... WTF man? I already know that vitality sensors are NOT FUN. I had one used on me today, just to check.

Sony: I'm a huge proponet of actually putting money in the bank, so buying one and then some games would either break that habit, or take forever.

Microsoft: I just don't get it. Pay $200 for the worst 360 available, and then pay another $50 a year to play.... a whole bunch of shooters. What? Why do I want to do that? I want to play Viva PinĂ£ta and Banjo Kazooie, but not that much.
Also, everything you buy with the 360 label makes Bill Gates feel good about himself. I see that as being undesirable.

Wii: The fact that there are no good games for this thing anymore. It has such potential, and it's all been thrown to the wind. And the console itself is so incapable as compared to its competition that without games there is NOTHING for you to do on it.

Xbox 360: It seems like Microsoft's focus isn't the games anymore. Now with the Facebook and Twitter capabilities, as well as lastfm and Netflix and all that stuff, I feel like Microsoft is trying to make this anything BUT a game console. Which is probably why I'm seeing so few exclusive games on this console that I want. I'm also frustrated about how commonly these consoles crap out.

Ps3: The fact that PSN still isn't up to snuff with Xbox Live, and I'm a little disappointed that Sony didn't even TRY and hide the fact that they're copying the Wii, that's just shameless. I'm also very disappointed with the fact that there are so few games that utilize the Ps3 to its full, or close to full, potential. Metal Gear neared the Ps3's limits (at least that's my understanding of it), and M.A.G. seems to be doing the same. But...anything else? I am looking forward to Mod Nation Racers though. Sounds really cool. The track editor tool looks a bit like Zoo Tycoon. I like that. biggrin

I don't understand people who are upset about the lack of Ps3 price cut and use the recession as a reason why there should be a price cut. THE CONSUMER ISN'T THE ONLY ONE AFFECTED BY THE RECESSION. The manufacturers are affected just as well. This high price point plus the fact that they're selling at a loss (or were, I honestly don't know anymore) is financial self-multilation for Sony as it is. A price cut = plain and simple suicide.

And & it's price isn't that much more expensive that the Elite 360...in fact, the 80gig costs the exact same price!

What I like:

Wii: The Wii Motion Plus does look very interesting and looks like it can make for some nice gameplay experiences in the future (I'm trying to be pleasant by completely disregarding the fact that I'm paying extra money for an add-on that gives the Wiimote the motion-sensing capabilities that it should've had in the first place). Also - Metroid: Other M and The Conduit. Need I say more?

Xbox 360: With all these new additional features to XBL, it's finally starting to distinguish itself as an online service. For years people have bragged to me about how great of an online experience XBL is, and I was never given ample proof of what makes it so miraculous. Now with Facebook support, Twitter support, new Netflix and radio support, and more, it's really distinguished itself. Also - Halo: ODST. Very nice!

Ps3: PSN has got an excellent library of stuff. I just bought Final Fantasy VII today. I constantly get awesome themes and wallpapers from there, as well as some nice songs every once in a while, like the rock version of The End Begins from God of War and Still Alive, the main theme to Mirror's Edge. Developers are finally starting to break new ground with this console - M.A.G. anyone? I especially like that the "Play, Create, Share" genre is making its home on this console, what with LittleBigPlanet and Mod Nation Racers. inFAMOUS is also occupying a large portion of my time.
