The clouds up ahead were a stark contrast from the mare's current mood. While they were dark and looming, ready to unleash their fury onto the forest, Teppy was trotting along, an amused expression on her face. She had just visited her two-legger, an cranky old woman called Abeytu, and stirred up a little trouble. Of course, it wasn't a nasty trick... That wasn't in Teppy's nature. But she would find that the strips she used to weave her baskets wouldn't be quite where she had left them.
Stopping at the bottom of a hill the mare let out a content sigh, letting her bright cyan eyes trail along the trees of her forest home. She had lived there all of her life, in the comfort and safety of the trees. She could remember when she was little, small enough to hide under a bush or in the trunk of a fallen tree. The apple tree on top of the hill was in one of her earliest memories, where she spent the Spring watching it bloom, and discovered how sweet and delicious the grown fruit were in the Summer. That time had almost come full circle again, and it made her happy thinking about it. Of course back then she had her family close by and friends to play with, but lately not many came to visit. Loneliness started to trickle into her cheer.
Temperance shook her head, tossing her tri-coloured mane lightly. She shouldn't wallow in the past... Today had been pretty good so far despite the weather, right? Looking up, she studied the sky, wondering if it would be safe to go up the hill to visit her tree.

It seemed like today was a day for thunderstorms and rain, as the red-coated, black-striped stallion traversed the open meadows to find shelter. The change in the air warned him that it might be a hefty storm, though it had yet to rain. He was mostly happy that he didn't have any mares to deal with today. It was aggravating, having to deal with mares... Then again, he was probably the practical opposite of his father, which he knew was unusual, but then, he figured he took on more of his mother than of his father.
Anyway... eh? Reizt glanced up to see a hill with trees... he was close to a forest after all. Good! The storm clouds would soon catch up to him if he didn't hurry! Changing his trot into a gallop and then a run, he charged up the hill, seeking shelter. "Curse this weather," he mumbled to himself. "...Of all days to go out for some quiet time..." Reizt's green eyes blazed angrily at the sky before he calmed down. It seemed like today just wasn't his day for "quiet time" after all...

One could never be too careful facing a thunderstorm, right? At least it wasn't raining yet, and the sky was clear of flashing light. When she was satisfied that it was safe, Teppy began the short way up the hill. Her pace was relaxed yet halfway up the hill she thought she heard the sound of fast hoof falls on the soft grass, followed by mumbling. Pricking her ears forward she looked around for the source of the sound, continuing forward until...
"Hey!" Temperance shouted in surprise when a stallion charged up from the other side of the hill, eyes blazing for a reason Teppy couldn't figure out. She stepped sideways in a hurry, afraid that he would keep on charging and run right into her. From there she stared at hm, wondering what in the world he was doing. "Why are you running?" Then she looked down the hill and across the clearing she was much too afraid go near. There was nothing there, as far as she could see, but maybe he had...? Open space like clearings downright terrified her.
