A petite kalona wandered through the forest aimlessly. Her eyes seemed somewhat blank but they somehow emitted an eerie glow. As she walked, Keira could feel her necklaces hit her body and all she could hear were the crickets chirping. It was a warm night and it was clear that summer had arrived. She wasn't really a fan of this weather and she usually escaped deep in the forest to elude the warm weather. Her tail flicked back and forth impatiently as she walked. Keira wasn't going anywhere in particular and she was just trying to escape reality. That hasn't been working for her. Every since her... encounter with that kalona. Keira had been infuriated with her own race that she used to have so much pride in. She had turned her back on kalona and stallions in general. If her father hadn't intervened, Keira would be dead and her carcass would be rotting somewhere in the forest. She had vowed never to let her guard down again. She wanted so badly to leave this world but she couldn't find the heart to leave yet. She owed it to her father to stay here. Maybe something would change her mind.

The forest was always a pleasant hideaway for Faleron, especially during those days that were especially hot. The tall trees loomed overhead, letting in only the faintest streams of sunlight while the rest of the forest was cloaked in shade. This was obviously welcoming on a warm day like today, especially because of Faleron’s dark coat – it always was a pain during spring and summer seasons.
He laid his ears back, tilting his head back to stare up into what he see of the sky. “It’s awfully bright today,” he murmured, sighing, “Perhaps I should rest here for a bit until the sun isn’t so intense.” However, it would probably take hours before the sun went down, and considering that there wasn’t a single cloud obstructing the sky today, it looked like his only choice was to wait a couple of hours, or risk the heat.
Deciding to settle for the former, he surveyed the area. What could he do for these hours, he wondered? Maybe he should have asked his brother to accompany him – at least then he wouldn’t be alone, and bored out of his mind.
Grumbling to himself, he moved through the forest, stopping only when he came to a small clearing. Stepping into it, he watched the sunlight that managed to filter through the branches of the trees overhead, observing the way they seemed to sparkle.
…Perhaps “bored” would have been an understatement.

Keira hadn't been completely in reality for the past few weeks and she had the tendency to zone a lot. She didn't even notice the other soquili that entered the same area as her. Keira stared at him blankly wondering why he seemed to be mumbling. How strange. She had been a little wary of other soquili in general and this stallion was no different.
Though... she had to admit that she was rather curious about him. She could see some of his features and they were definitely... not normal. Keira approached the clearing that the stallion was in. She stood underneath a tree in the shade and closed her eyes. Heat sucked the energy out of her and Keira just wanted to escape into the darkness of the forest.
She looked at the stallion again and then looked away. There were a multitude of emotions running through Keira but she just couldn't make any sense of them right now.

His ears perked slightly as Faleron thought he heard the sound of movement nearby. Pulling his gaze away from the sunlight, he instead let it roam around his surroundings once more, looking for the possibility of another Soquili. While he did want the company of his brother, Faleron usually didn't find himself social enough to bond with those who were outside of his own family. However, considering that he would have to spend the next few hours here, a little company wouldn't be...too bad, perhaps?
Unaware as to whether or not the mare noticed him, Faleron cleared his throat in an attempt to draw her attention to him. He approached her, but stopped a few feet away, ensuring to keep space between the two, just in case there was any discomfort.
"I, er. Hello." He greeted, somewhat feebly. He never was very good at talking to others - he preferred to keep to himself most of the time. As a result, he usually came off as aloof and unfriendly, but his personality was quite the contrary.

Staring at him, Keira wasn't sure what she should say. She had kept away from the company of others for a long time and she was in no hurry to socialize again. "Hello." Her eyes had hardly any hint of life behind them but Keira was quite alive. The other soquili didn't seem like any threat but Keira had underestimated many soquili.
Now was the awkward part. What was she supposed to say now? Was she supposed to wait for him to say something? She didn't like awkward silences. And she was still wary about this soquili. She noticed his demon-like tail but his colors said otherwise. How... conflicting.
"So, what are you up to in this part of the forest?" Oh wow. That was a strange question. Keira wanted to slap herself because she was probably going to make a fool out of herself now. "I mean. What brings you to this part of the forest?" That sounded weird too...

Faleron had also been in many a situation with awkward silences. Try as he might, he rarely thought of anything else to say after the initial greeting. He was relieved when the mare voiced a question. At least they wouldn't have to stand there in awkward silence, if they could make conversation.
"I tend to visit this forest often," He explained, "It's just...very pleasant and soothing here." He paused to let his gaze sweep over the trees and the clearing. It really was a calming place. As Faleron glanced back at the mare, he smiled a little sheepishly. "I usually have only short visits, however it seems rather...bright and sunny today. I intended on waiting until the sun set a little since..." He trailed off, not sure if he should continue. Was he being too chatty? "...Well, you have a rather dark coloration as well, so I suppose you may know what I'm referring to." He ended lamely.
...Alright, so maybe it was still awkward, even with them talking. He cleared his throat. "What about yourself? May I ask why you've decided to visit the forest today?" He asked politely. After a pause, he realized that he hadn't even introduced himself yet - wasn't that the first thing he had been taught to do when meeting someone new?
"Ah, pardon me. My name is Faleron - and yourself?"
