Kizrain grinned like an idiot as he drew close to the private den Hinhallow and Lakona had made their own. It was large enough for at least eight lions to house in comfortably, but currently was just home to the Dark Moon, Her DreamWeaver, and their children.
Sitting on his haunches at the top of the hill, he drew a deep breath and gave his best still-a-cub roar, which was better than one would expect. "NIKALO!"
He was grinning widely as he wated, tail lashing back and forth back and forth. This was going to be great. Caladbolg had said he and both sons were going to the 'Usual Spot' to train. If Kizrain and a friend wanted to come join in they'd be welcome.
Kiz had jumped at the chance. It seemed unlikely that Clasira would be there... She was probably off with her friends practicing or just having fun. Which, that was fine. They would see the girls another day. Impatient, he roared again. "NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIK!"

Nikalo jolted upright, smacking his head on the bottom of the alcove he normally slept on. Which he was under. How he'd gotten there, he didn't know. But it sure gave him a head ache. He knew the voice that had woken him. Kizrain. What he was doing at his den this early was beyond him, but it was probably important. And it wasn't like he wanted to go back to sleep anyway. Nik got to his feet, brushing the dust from his fur. Stupid floor.
Nik padded out to meet his friend, aware of the sudden silence of his Aunt. Which meant she was watching him or... something else. He felt uneasy as he approached Kiz. Could she see him? Would she try to hurt him? Nikalo shook his head. He could see no reason why she would attack the other cub. No reason to worry. But why was she quiet?
"You are loud, Kiz." He complained as he approached the cub.

"About time sleepy head." Kizrain returned with feigned grouchiness. "And of COURSE I'm loud... Do you know the racket you make when you snore? I've heard a stampede of elephants run over brambles with less noise than you make... Its a wonder you could hear me at all.. Or that you mom didn't just toss you out here so she wouldn't have to listen to me anymore..."
Grinning, he crouched, tail lashing the air. A moment later he hopped up and was prancing around Nik. "Guess what we're doing now? Guessguessguess!"

Nikalo hung his head in defeat. How could the cub have so much energy? "No, you woke me -- Hey! I don't snore!" He wapped his friend with his tail, shaking his head. Not that it mattered anyway, but still. He didn't snore. That he knew of... Anyway, he still had to think off what could have Kiz so excited this early. "We're going to go play fight with those friends of yours?" It was a good a guess as any. He really couldn't think of anything else that would have Kizrain this excited. Or, well, he could, but none of those things involved him.

"How you sleep through all that racket is beyond me.." Kiz sighed, rolling his red eyes. "No wonder Acierta always looks so tired... I couldn't sleep within a dozen leagues of you, at the rate you're going..."
He pouted as Nik instantly guessed, visibly wilting. "Awwwwwwwww.. You guessed... Oh well. YEAH!"
Instantly perked back up, he playfully wapped his best friend right back. "Caladbolg said he'd teach us if we wanted to learn... Adian and Riadir are probably already up and at it... You want to go!?"

Nikalo blinked. He'd been right. Wow. He hid his trepidation. There was a damn good reason that he had not sought a teacher to help him learn fighting. Or hunting. Or anything remotely violent. Sala was always that much louder. Enough to drive him to do things he didn't want. But she was still quiet, so it was now or never. "Yeah! Lets go!" He mustered up the excitement, surprised he actually felt it. Maybe it would be fun after all. He'd be meeting new lions and learning to fight all in one day. It was going to be a day full of surprises, he could tell.
