Aila settled comfortably in the director's chair she'd set up at the head of the circle of plastic school chairs. Today they'd be starting it easy-- reading their lines out loud, practicing how they wanted to say the lines, that sort of thing. So, she'd set up a comfortable environment for them to do that in.
Next time they'd worry about acting out how they were going to perform their lines, adding in whatever hand motions or body language they thought was necessary-- and preferably without a script. Today was just for a read-through, though.
Kisala was settled in one of the plastic chairs, but this one was outside of the circle. She wasn't an actor in the plays, but since she wasn't actually familiar with it, she'd asked if she could come to the rehearsals so she would have a better idea of what it was about and what props and sets might be necessary. Aila had of course agreed, and so she'd settled in to be a fly on the wall, so to speak.

Today Joshua seemed rather reluctant to go to rehersal. Once he had learned who was playing Juliet, all his courage seemed to melt away. He didn't know why--why did Nattie make him nervous?
She never had before--maybe it was the aspect of messing up in front of her. He couldn't do that, he would never be able to forgive himself. What if he stuttered? What if he tripped while on stage? The thought frightened him. He couldn't do it. He could not do it.
But his desire to impress Nataya came before his fear of messing up in front of her. He had to be Romeo. He would be Romeo.

Aila waved at the nervous boy as he came in, motioning to the chairs spread out around her,
"Hey there, Joshua. We're doing a simple rehearsal today-- just a read-through. No reason to get excited..." she'd worked around people in the performance business long enough to recognize the telltale signs of nerves, even if she couldn't tell what the -reason- for those nerves were,
"We'll just make sure everybody has a good idea of how their part is going to go, so they can start memorizing lines and deciding on delivery."

Orli and Nahuel tumbled into the room. Or, rather, it seemed that Orli chased her brother in.
"You-! Big-! Dummy-!" she yelled at him, and then both skidded to a halt in front of the director. Whatever argument they had been having was quickly put aside and forgotten in favor of innocent smiles.
"Good afternoon," said Nahuel, absolutely failing in his attempts to be suave.
"Hi, Josh!" said Orli, craning around to wave to the boy. "You get to kill my brother! And we're best friends!"

Josh looked at Aila, and gave a sigh of relief. So there was little chance that he'd be messing up too badly. Read-through's usually were the easiest part when it came to practice--so he didn't have to worry so much. He gave her a smile, and took a seat.
He turned to smile at Nahuel and Orli, they seemed to have been fighting again. He silently wondered if his younger sisters would be the same way. They were already loud. "Hi Orli!" Josh said, with a smile. "I suppose I do." He commented. "Sorry about that." He added, looking to Nahuel.
"Oh," He looked to Aila. "Vinny says to tell you that he'll be here a little late. He's been practicing lines with a friend."

Nataya shuffled into the rehearsal room, script held loosely in her arms. "Hey guys." she said softly, greeting the entire room with one of her usual bright smiles. She didn't seem as tired as she had been lately, which was an improvement. She smiled at Josh and the other vaguely familiar faces; she'd remember the names soon, she hoped.
She was glad today was a read-through. She hadn't had a chance to memorize many of her lines, and if it had been a dress rehearsal, she surely would have made a horrible mess of it.

Aila grinned, motioning all the kids to their seats,
"Don't worry about it. This isn't really that important, so if he misses it, then it won't be a big deal anyhow. I just want to make sure everyone's familiar with the play and thinking about how they want to perform it."
She waved to Kisala where she was seated off in the corner a bit,
"Kisala here requested to sit in while you read your lines since she doesn't actually know the play, so she can be sure to make appropriate props. She'll be sitting there and keeping quiet, though, so you can feel free to forget her presence."
Kisa grinned,
"Yep! I just wanna hear the play and maybe hear what you guys're doing with it so I can visualize what all needs to be there. Don't want to miss anything!"

Nahuel shrugged at Josh, dropping into a seat with a sort of easy feline grace. He pulled a dog-eared copy of the play out of his back pocket and flipped casually through it before addressing the boy again.
"I do not envy how many lines you've got, man," he said.
"You're just jealous," said Orli, sitting beside him. Her bearing was a bit more upright than his.
"I got the part I auditioned for," he said, and then turned around to wave at the tech girl he'd been told to ignore. "Yo, Kisa." He had classes with her. Orli elbowed him.
"Pay attention," she hissed.

(Josh muse just suddenly returned...)
Joshua gave Nattie a smile; seeing her made the all too familar nervous feeling return, but... She was his friend. "Hey Nattie," he greeted, "Guess we're going to be practicing together." Practicing together a lot. He couldn't deny that he'd enjoy spending time with her but... What if he messed up?
He looked to Nahuel, and shrugged. "I've got a good memory, so it won't seem like that many lines." He leaned forward to whisper, "But... I am kinda nervous," he confessed, and gestured with his head towards Nataya. "You know... Because of Juliet." He silently wondered if Aila expected him to kiss her... and though he couldn't say he wouldn't enjoy that... The very thought of it made him squirm with nervousness.
The kind of nervousness that wasn't caused by stagefright.
