Ryuk rifled through various objects in the closet. It was just about time for the after-school prop and set creation committee to meet up and he had to get out a few items to work with. Paper and pencils mostly, as they had to decide on and set up the various sets they'd create. Balcony, backdrop, swords...whatever else they could think of that might be important.
Kisala waited patiently at a table not far from the closet Ryuk was going through. She had already sketched out a few ideas for sword designs, and was looking for inspiration on whatever else might need creation. What other props would be needed for the play? She'd have to read it sometime, she realized, or she'd be at a severe disadvantage during the creation process.
((feel free to post your child showing up and such. XD I'll move on with the creation process once everybody's here))

Ophelia had done her homework to work on costumes. She came to the tech meeting equipped with a dog-eared copy of the play and a sketchbook with a few rudimentary designs. She was so far thinking red for the Capulets and blue for the Montagues, an aesthetic she borrowed from the Franco Zefferelli film (which she had watched). The overall designs, however, were more along the lines of Baz Luhrman (which she had also watched).
She'd have to talk to the director before she did anything, though. She whistled the theme from the Zefferelli film (it was very distinctive) and took a seat by her friend Kisala.
"Hi," she said brightly, setting down the sketchbook and flipping it open. "Excited to get to work?" she asked.

Kisa nodded, offering the other girl the prop sketches she had made for the swords. Artistically, they were a little lacking, but the general design was good, and she was pretty sure they could pull it of. That was, of course, if Ryuk felt comfortable with letting them use actual wooden swords. If they had to be made out of a softer material-- like foam-- she'd have to revise her sketches altogether, "This's all I've got so far," she said, "I'm not sure what other props'll be needed, but I know there're swords in the play. You're doing costumes, right?"

Kash hesitated as she peeked in the door, wearing her rattiest clothing, a t-shirt that several paint smears on it and a pair of ratty jean shorts that she had actually stolen from her father and cut a tail hole out of so he couldn't steal them back. Her short hair didn't need to be pulled up, but she had clipped her bangs back so they wouldn't get in her face.
"I'm uh, here to paint backdrops?" she said, looking around.

Ryuk peeked his head out of the closet, "Oh yes! Of course! Hello ladies! If you'd like, young lady, you can come in here and get which supplies you think you'll need. I've got a few things, but I'm not sure what all you'll need-- this actually isn't my specialty, as I'm really a circus performer, so I'm really just here for...uh...moral support?"
The tiger-like young man (he can't have been long out of school himself, putting him perhaps at twenty at the most) ducked sheepishly back into the closet, gathering the supplies he'd decided were most likely to be necessary into his arms.

"Well paint, for one," Kash said, following him into the closet. "Wood, newspaper, flour, water, drop cloths. Definitely drop cloths. I'm messy enough as it is, I won't even start on how messy painting big stuff is. We're doing Romeo and Juliet, right? So we're going to need some sort of balcony, too."
She had been thinking about this a lot, actually. "And it's set in old England, right? So stone walls and drawbridges and grassy hills, right?"

Ryuk nodded, "I think Kisala's working on the balcony design. The rest of that stuff's in here. D'you want canvas, too? To spread over the wood for painting? Or are you going to paint the wood directly? If we do canvas, we can use the same 'screen' for all the sets and just change the canvas."
Kisala perked at this talk, "I can do the woodwork stuffs. But, I don't have any artistic talent s'far as painting things and making them look nice. Though, I could lay down base paint colours or something for sure."

"Fair Verona, where we lay our scene," quoted Ophelia, glancing over at the newly-arrived dragon girl. "That's in Italy. Totally different place."
She flipped her sketch book open and showed her drawings to Kisa, smiling enthusiastically. "I'm super-excited. I love fashion! Although I was kind of planning for, you know, teenagers as Romeo and Juliet but it looks like we've got to make do with Josh and Nataya."
She frowned down at her sketchbook.
"I'll need to revise these," she said, and looked back at Kash. "I can help out with backdrops, too, if you need? Or I can ask my dad about getting supplies for you. He's got a lot of art things. "

"Actually I was thinking rocks and stuff," Kash said. "You know, to make it feel 3D? We can paint the rest of the backdrop on canvas." She wasn't sure she liked how Ophelia had said "make do with" about kids. It wasn't as if she hadn't been a kid just a week or two ago, herself. It was why she didn't reply to the other girl's offer just yet.
"I could use help," she said to Kisala. "I mean, most of painting is putting down base colors, you know? But don't you have a different job? I don't want to take you away from it. And there's supposed to be a couple of other kids helping me, right?"

As if her words summoned him, Ignacio Garcia poked his head through the doorway and he offered a wide, white grin to everyone inside the room. "Hey. Is this where we're doin' the set stuff?" Without waiting for a confirmation, he bounced into the room and waved to the faces he knew. "Hey, guys. What's up? Where should I start? I've never done anything like this before."

"Iggy!" Kisala beamed at her old friend, bouncing up and down, "Isn't this like so cool? We all get to make all this stuff...." she nodded to both girls, "I can help out everywhere! I've already finished my science fair project, so I've got lots and lots of time, since all I do other than that is homework really and I can usually get most of that done during classes and breaks and stuff. So, yeah!"
She didn't want to get in between the tension Ophelia and Kash had, but then, she also didn't really notice it. Observant certainly wasn't Kisala's middle name.
Ryuk grinned, "Aw, don't worry. We've got plenty of supplies in here-- this closet is packed. Just remember, though, the more props and stuff you make like rocks and all that, the more time it's going to take to switch them out between sets and all. So, try to keep it more limited if possible, just so's it's easier to move things around."

Ophelia had not noticed any tension between her and the dragon, and simply thought the girl might not have heard her. Oh well. Maybe she wasn't supposed to butt into other tech groups.
She waved to Iggy, although she couldn't recall if or when she had ever met him. "You signed up for a specific group, right?" she asked, just trying to be helpful. "I'm heading up costumes, and Kisa's on props. I think she's doing sets," she said, and motioned to the girl who previously had ignored her. She didn't know her name.
She raised her hand and looked in Ryuk's direction. "Uh, question-" she said. "For costumes, are we mostly using what people already have in their closets at home?"

"Iggy!" Kash said cheerfully. "Hey, man! You're gonna help me, right?" Somehow she had taken over the background section, so, well... ok! She could do it! At least it was something she felt reasonably confident in. "And you're right, they'll have to be few and light. Maybe a tree and a rock," she added to the cat guy.
Inwardly she was pouting that she couldn't make an entire stage of cool effects. She was much better with sculpting than she was with painting. Not that she couldn't paint just fine, it just wasn't where her heart was.

Ryuk grinned, "Everyone can work on everything they want. It's not like we have twenty people all working on different sections. Everybody can work on it all together."
He scratched behind his furry ears, then came out and set all the stuff he'd grabbed on the table. "And well, if they have stuff that's appropriate they can bring stuff in to wear, or we can make the costumes from scratch or buy things that look right or whatever. It's up to you guys and what you feel like you can do."
Kisala nodded, "I definitely want to help with everything I can, like I said."

"Oh, okay!" nodded Ophelia. She bit her lip for a moment. "I think I need to talk to the director," she said. "I read the play and I watched two different movies of it..."
She trailed off, feeling a bit intimidated. She cast a glance over to Kisala, looking for reassurance.
"Do we have, I guess... what's the word..."
Stupid. She knew the word. She was an artist.
"Like, a unifying theme?" she asked.
