<3 Nymphie.

Okay so this is a rough To-Do List of what I NEED to do before moving there.

Complete FAFSA
Apply for student loans and financial aid (I literally forgot student loans existed until circa 2 hours ago in my dream)
Get school transcripts
Get a passport
Mail school transcripts and GED form to NSCC
Pay application fee
(get accepted hurr)
Get a student visa
pay $500 within 3 weeks of acceptance
pay for a flight out there.
Register
Pay $3500 while registering.

there's lots of other 'optional' things.
like getting a job.
and a permit

Basically though I'm planning on moving out there as soon as I legally can (have loans/aid set up and student visa)
PostPosted: Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:29 pm

There's always SO MUCH and SO LITTLE to do.

Right now I NEED TO:

Start FAFSA
Email schools for transcripts
Call job places

Right now I am WAITING ON:

GED Certificate.

and you can see the problem. Job is something I'ma do in the next 20 minutes.
But school transcripts and FAFSA I don't need done until I get the certificate. So getting them now is good, but it doesn't change that I can't do anything until I has the certificate.

So I'll still do things I need to do, it's just icky to always be WAITING FOR THINGS TO GET DONE. Like after I GET the certificate and transcripts and mail them to canada and pay the fee I need to wait a couple weeks for word to get back. Then I have to wait a couple weeks for financial aid to go through and student loans and stuff. Then I have to wait for the passport. Then the visa.

;-; waiting is icky.

I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW

GUYS
I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW.

I turned in an application to Guess and then they didn't call me even though they said they would and then they filled their position without even offering me an interview.

Then I got a call from the Guess Kids about 500 feet down from it (we has an epic sized strip mall in 2 parts. XD)
I HAS AN INTERVIEW TOMORROW AT 3.

Hopefully I get the job. ;____;

MOVE THE PASSPORT TO THE TOP OF YOUR LIST

Seriously, the damn thing takes MONTHS to get.
And even if you pay for the expedited process (which is stupid) It still take A FULL MONTH.

So just complete the picture and the paperwork for your passport s**t now.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:08 pm

thing is I don't have the money for a passport. if it goes another week without a job I'll have my mom buy it and just pay her back when I can, but that's like a LAST RESORT. >.<

So this is sort of stating the obvious, but you should've had a job and saved money before you decided you needed to spend a lot.

How do you expect to pay for college or any of the other crap you mentioned?

"I'll get a job and then I'll get money and blahblah"
NOOOOO

You're going to end up with a minimum wage job. Or maybe something a little more than that, but you're not going to be a full-timer. You're not going to make a lot of money.

When you move you're going to have bills. And you're going to have to pay them. And I'm not talking about college bills either. I'm talking about rent, electric, tv (if you have it), internet (Which let's face it; You're going to get), water, gas, a car if you have it, car insurance for the former, FOOD, and miscellaneous s**t that sneaks up on you (trash bags, feminine hygiene, medical bills, personal pleasures like GC or DVDs or whatever).

If you have one job, you can PROBABLY pay for that. But you're not going to be able to save a lot of money.

You're going to have to have two jobs if you even want to begin about thinking about college. Unless your parents have agreed to pay for college, there's no sugar coating it: You're ******** screwed.

I can hardly work one job without complaining a lot. Considering how long it takes you to get anything done I highly doubt you'll be able to keep a job for long. The longest job I've ever kept was 4 months, and that was ONLY because I had nothing else to do and my parents were constantly hounding me to get a job AND I knew that at the end of it I had basic training (which was a release of freedom for me, however irrational that is).

There was a period where I had two jobs, one 37 hours a week and one that was maybe like 10 hours a week. IT WAS HORRIBLE.
Technically I only had the two jobs at the same time for ONE WEEK and I will tell you THAT s**t IS NEVER HAPPENING AGAIN.

Now, I'm assuming you're going to say "But I can work while I go to college!" AHAHAHAHAA @ that.

I had one job while I was in college. The job itself didn't suck. School by itself was kind of easy.
Combine the two together and what do you get?
THE WORST TIME IN YOUR LIFE EVER!
And if you start out with zero money, you're going to have to have two jobs WHILE in college.
Yeah, that's not going to happen.

Do yourself a favor and get a savings account and work for AT LEAST the summer 3 months (or you get 3k) while living with your parents.
Then you will have no bills. Put AT LEAST 50% of your paycheck (it should be more like 90% but I highly doubt you can manage to not buy anything) into this savings account every pay check.

Then when you have amassed SOME money, go do your thing with eiki or whatever.

As nice as Eiki is, I highly doubt he wants to (or even CAN) pay for you to live with him and cover all of the bills that will be half yours too.

You need to think ahead more, Pixie.

And the only reason I'm being so hard on you THIS time is because I made the same mistake you are about to make. Being financially unstable, poor, and coming crawling back to your parents begging for their help is the most humiliating thing ever.

And I know you hate your parents.
So just stay there for AT LEAST the summer 3 full months(Or you have saved 3k).
You're going to have to anyway, because along with passport stuff, a student visa is going to take a very long time to get as well.

edit:
And 3k is like the bare minimum. Really you should probably save more.
I had only saved 2k before going to college and I had to ration my food.
I was eating once every other day or so, and my one meal was 1 bowl of ramen.
Yeah, that sucked.
And btw before you ask: No, you can't function very well with that little amount of food in your system.
You end up sleeping all the time.
And feeling like s**t.

Q just because you cant keep a job doesnt mean Pixie cant smile I cant stand working and yet except for 3 semesters when I havent needed a job, I have had a job since I was 16. Granted I change jobs constantly, but I only leave one job when I already have another to go to. And just because you hate working shittons of hours doesnt mean Pixie will. I had a job for 7 months where I worked 55+ hours a week, and I did fine. I hated it, but I did it and didnt feel like killing myself. Pixie could do it too maybe.

Anywas~ I think Pixie if you get fafsa in time you'll be able to do school if you pay for it all with loans and grants. My parents make a shitton, but I'm still offered enough loans to cover all my school expenses. I am not however offered any grants. A lot of people wont take loans because they dont want to have to pay them back, but if you're fine with it you should be fine with getting school paid for. However I'm not sure how fafsa works for international students. It is paying for me in Australia though so I guess it should work.

I personally think you should live on campus, its so much less stress. You pay for it all at once, then you have food, housing, and utilities all semester and no worries about them being turned off. But I dont even know if the school you want to go to has dorms, and I know you want to live with Eikichi, in which case...I think you should listen to Q because that is going to be hard >.>

I know you did it but (and yes this is going to cause heartbreak) I don't believe Pixie can. Or even has the will to.

Besides, she's never had a job before.
This/these will be her first ever job(s).

If I remember correctly.
Which makes any job situation seem 3x as difficult.

And Pixie is pretty stubborn and strong willed I think, so I think she can do it biggrin

Pixie, I don't know. I'm going to ask this, just because I'm HORRENDOUSLY curious about it.

If Kichi held up a gun to your head and said "there isn't a bullet in it" would you let him pull the trigger?
