((WE SHUN YOUR POSTING ORDERS AND YOU LOVE IT OKAY GO.))
Hell was out of the question. Hillbilly, doubly so. (Much to Melody's amusement; really, she'd been interested in that room, but there was only so much yodeling she could take before wanting to stuff cotton in her ears) The aquarium was out for reasons Melody didn't QUITE understand, but she didn't quite mind. Heaven was just a little too cliché.
Which left the skittles room, where it looked like a box of crayons and a packet of candy married, had a dozen children, and turned them all loose with finger paints.
But, Melody eventually relents as she straightens her dress and blows a lock of hair out of her face, it does have its own charm.
This, she feels, may very well be her last night out for a very long time. So it is with her aunt's stamp of approval, a dress that may as well be a tent, sandals rather than heels, and a smile that she takes her husband by the hand and prepares to enjoy her last hurrah before motherhood.

Hitsuga had, frankly, not known what to expect of this 'prom'. He knew only that it was a gathering, and that Lady Melody had asked him to come so that he could meet Master Boyue at long last after many fond mentions.
He, however, is quickly rethinking this mistake as he marvels in horrified fascination at what a mess the place was. Not that it is untidy, but....everywhere. Noise. Color. Lights. More noise.
People of all races, species and colors, laughing, yelling, talking, creating a ROAR of nonsense.
At the least, he no longer worried that he might be horribly underdressed for the affair, given what some of them were wearing....
Not so much traveling from one room to the next as he is carefully edging along the wall, trying to keep himself well out of the way of everything and everyone, he tries in vain to spot any familiar faces.

Meanwhile, standing in front of the dance machine are two... ... vaguely familiar-looking figures, one more familiar in a gaudy white and gold jacket, a tiny top hat, and her vitally important monocle, and another... looking like a gigantic column of greens, blues, and white splaying out into swishing skirts at the bottom. With the delicate ribbons and lacing lining the outfit and gracefully placed accessories, one might mistake this person for a woman if he were not so enormous, and on top of that, more than a foot taller than his companion.
The two might appear to uninformed observers to be communicating by glances, facial expressions, and minute gestures, but any Porcelain stopping by would recognize the dead mental silence around the two as a sign of a very tightly sealed private conversation.

"Hitsuga! Hitsuga!" Melody calls, waving frantically with her free hand in an attempt to call him over.
He came! He really came! blaugh Melody's so happy that he's here, he actually showed up, and--

Unbounded relief emits from the perfumer as he turns in the direction of Melody's joyous projections and the sound of his name. Someone he knows...! And an abrupt quieting to the notion that he has, perhaps, found himself in the WRONG melting pot of noise and color.
Pushing off of the wall to scurry in her direction, pausing to avoid the sweeping skirt of a female recklessly dancing with her partner (was that really a dress?? It barely covered her...! gonk ) he reaches Melody, trying to compose himself from something less of a bundle of nerves.
Yes...yes he showed up. Just as he said he would sweatdrop How is Lady Melody? Is she--
He blinks, turning his head to look where she is looking, and starts a bit to see Setsushi and Rika are here as well. .....oh my.

Setsushi spins around, all a flurry of white satin and gauze, and exclaims, "Madame Melody!" picking up the front of his skirts and quickly swishing forward to meet her -- a little too quickly. "How are you -- have you come to dance?" His accompanying projections are laced with a bit of worry, but pleased and deferential, at least for now.
Rika, for her part, looks vaguely annoyed at the interruption, but curious at the name of 'Hitsuga.' Upon spying him, a vague expression of disappointment crosses her face before she moves to join them.
With a jaunty strut, swinging her cane as if each flourish she makes had been carefully studied and perfected.
... Frightening to imagine that Rika might have indeed...

Boyue lets himself be led around. He is uncomfortable amongst all of these people-- especially so many that he doesn't -know-! and so he is letting her do all the work of greeting them and such, and merely standing by her as a constant guardian and shadow.
He bows in greeting to the two porcelain as Melody flits off that direction-- if she could be said to 'flit' given her current condition. Two babies did not make for a small pregnancy, and she was just lucky to carry them well enough she hadn't been put on bedrest or something. He'd heard of things like that happening with multiple births.
Boyue is pleased to meet all these new people. Or at least, tries to send that message, but ends up with an underlying message of discomfort and insecurity.

Melody is all too happy to introduce Boyue to Hitsuga (See, Boyue, this is Melody's new friend!) and he DID meet Great Grandpa Setsutsu and Miss Rika, right?
And of course, she answers Setsushi, wincing at a bit of a cramp, she plans on dancing! Slowly, of course. Movement is good for the circulation, after all. And why... she wonders, is Setsushi wearing womens' clothing? And, she supposes, why is Rika wearing the suit?

Madame knows what she is doing, Setsushi murmurs partly to himself, though seeming a bit uncertain still.
As to their outfits, they, err, uhhh have a very good explanation, in fact, says Rika, adjusting her monocle as she comes to a stop in front of the couple, leaning on her cane and closing up her mind as usual: "In the Empire it is the male Porcelain who shows off his plumage and not the female. Therefore, I thought it appropriate that the male of this unit should enjoy the adornment of Gaian females, and the female the sobriety of Gaian males."
... From that flat face, it's impossible to tell if Rika is joking or if she really believes that her outfit is 'sober.'
"This has been a very interesting field expedition, but Setsushi will not play the dance machine for me, so I have been unable to gather all the specimens I wanted," she says; once again, it is hard to tell whether she has chosen the overly philosophical terminology for effect or if she is being sincere.
But even if Setsushi could still dance, no one can properly dance in this type of skirt... it needs to be better starched. sweatdrop

Melody supposes she understands, but...
...Doesn't Miss Rika think that, maybe, it would be fun to, uh... show off her plumage? And for Great-Grandpa to be... sober?
confused
Okay, maybe Melody doesn't QUITE understand.

As Melody turns her attention fully to Rika and Setsushi and after Hitsuga has properly projected a polite greeting to each of them, he turns a more attentive greeting on the one present that he's not yet met.
It is a pleasure to meet Master Boyue at long last. He has heard many things (all of them pleasant) from Lady Melody. 3nodding
He cringes at an explosion of laughter and jeering from nearby as someone seems to have epically failed at one of the dance machines, his own nervousness and barely-contained panic adding to the tones of Boyue's own. There was far, FAR too much going on here at once... gonk

Rika, though, can hardly wait for Hitsuga to finish his introductions to ask from behind him, "And where is Baikou?"

Boyue does not want to leave Melody here on her own, but he would like to go somewhere a bit quieter for communication. There are many messages being sent all over the place that people do not even realize they are sending, and he is feeling a bit overstimulated.
But he can deal with this. Really. He takes a deep breath for a moment, sending friendly feelings Hitsuga's way. It is very nice to meet him as well. Melody has told him a little about Hitsuga, yes. Things have been very busy for them lately, though, getting ready for the babies.

Melody furrows her brow in concern. Not that she wants to force anyone to be uncomfortable, least of all her husband, but at the same time, she can't help but nudge him gently with her mind, squeezing his hand and pulling him closer as if to reassure him that yes, everything's going to be all right. Yes, Melody will make sure that nothing horrible happens to him.
So, please? Boyue? Just trust Melody for a few hours?
But that's not the only thing bothering Melody--
...Where is Baikou, Hitsuga? Melody had thought that she would like to experience something Gaian like the prom!

Hitsuga understands, of course. It must be a very exciting time for him and Melody. And he wishes them the best with their little ones when the time, at last, comes...
At the question from both Rika and Melody, Hitsuga seems to blanch a bit, tightening his mental projections so that they are privately directed only at those nearby, in case there are other people listening.
Baikou is....well, she hadn't wanted to come, he explains sweatdrop Whatever is ailing her seems to be prodding at her often enough that she can't get around very well and having related to her what this would be as Melody had explained it to him, she had opted to stay in. And he, himself, plans to only stay long enough to make an appearance as he'd said he would.
He would really like Baikou to see a doctor....
