More than anything, Rujul just wanted to settle down. She had seen a great deal of the savannah in her wandering, and was sure if she walked any further she would walk the pads right off of her paws. It had never been a life that she'd wanted, and the rogue experience was something she engaged not out of desire, but necessity. There were only so many times that she could stand to be subjected to male power, when every single one of them only wanted the same thing out of her. No more. She'd gotten out of that as soon as she could.

Now she found herself wandering through increasingly-thick jungle. She preferred this to the baking hot grassland, the shade of the trees and occassional streams more than welcome to her mind and body. Rujul was on the thinner side from her nomadic life, though there was definitely power in her large frame, and the wary shifting of her eyes and perking of her ears revealed her hyperawareness-- and her nervousness. The purple lioness penetrated deeper into the jungle, unsure if anyone lived here. She could very well be meandering onto pridelands, and she didn't really want to be attacked or taken as a slave.

Rujul bent to take a drink from a small pool of water, the very tip of her tail twitching, muscles bunched, ready to leap into the defensive, should anything come at her. If she had learned anything from her time spent as a rogue, it was to never trust her surroundings.

Ardala was growing more and more sure of her place in the position of heir, simply because of the training exercises her mother was laying down for her. She spent nearly every day patrolling the jungle, an exercise her mother just previously did. Normally, she might have been a little sulky over the fact that her mother was shifting off some of her duties onto her (and not the most interesting ones) but it meant two very important things. One, that her mother was trusting her with the responsibilities of a queen. Two, that it left her mother more time to deal with the problems of the pride.

Every time she thought about all the members of the pride that were straying from the ways, she could feel her jaw tightening and her teeth grinding against one another. Even now, as she trotted through the undergrowth, picking her way carefully through the paths she knew nearly by heart, she could feel her blood boiling. It was mere luck, she supposed, that she happened to catch the foreign scent through the thick vegetation around her. One glimpse of the purple pelt from the corner of her eye and she tensed, though deep down she wondered if it was simply a new lionss in Kichaa's troupe.

She shifted her path towards the watering hole instead, careful to not let herself get distracted by thoughts again. Her deep, indigo eyes narrowed as she drew closer and closer, careful to use her knowledge of the vegetation to her advantage. Once close enough, she realized this was a lioness foreign to her entirely - she'd not seen her even once, and she doubted Kichaa had managed to gain a new member into her clan right under nose, no matter how mental the female was at times.

"Excuse me," her crisp, authoritative voice rang out, "is there something I can help you with?" She drew her head up, eyes still narrowed, legs set where she stood. She was still an adolescent and really no match for an adult, but being who she was, she certainly wasn't the type to back down.

Rujul caught a whiff of the pink adolescent just before that voice sounded, carrying in the jungle air with a tone Rujul had only ever heard used by males. The purple lioness was a little shocked that someone had managed to sneak up on her, to come so close without her knowledge, and it showed by the sudden tension in her frame, the surprise in her gold eyes. Rujul was swift to guard herself. She lifted her head and took a few steps back from the water, her claws extending automatically, and sizing up the pink lioness as she spoke. She was smaller than Rujul, but not as small as she'd expect for someone that age-- she could tell by her proportions that she was not quite an adult. Rujul quirked an eyebrow at the gall of this youth using such a tone with her, and the way she looked at her, as though she would fight if necessary. Rujul easily had weight on her, but she wasn't going to try her luck-- she didn't want to fight unless it was necessary, and slowly retracted her claws, her body relaxing marginally.

"Excuse me," the purple lioness answered in a hard tone, regarding Ardala stonily, her ears swivelling around to listen if this youth had any companions with her that might try to sneak up on her. "I am just passing through here; I am looking for a place to settle down, and don't mean any harm or to trespass. Who are you?" she questioned, not about to back down either, not to some young lioness that spoke like a male. Absently, she noted the way that this warrior-like female stood. In her experience, lions had always held the position of warrior, whilst lionesses hunted. But Ardala could still be a guard watching over pridelands Rujul had not heard of. She chose to be careful, though she hardly addressed Ardala with respect, she wasn't about to outright insult her, either. She'd been chased off enough pridelands to know. And judging by Ardala's size and probable strength, if she did come from the Blood of some pride, she didn't want to anger a group of heavyweights that could tear her to shreds.

The hard tone didn't go unnoticed, and the indigo eyes of the adolescent narrowed marginally. She wasn't one to think she could win a fight against the female alone, not with the difference in age, but she too also knew that there were no doubt scouts nearby, and should even one of them hear the sounds of a fight, they'd come running. She also knew that none of them would likely help her - it would be dishonor if she didn't finish the battle herself - but the female wouldn't know that. Would she hold her own if half a dozen strong Kunanda females came rushing in at her? Ardala hoped it didn't come to that, but she was harsher than her mother in these matters, and she wouldn't tolerate rogues in their lands.

"You are trespassing," she said sharply, chin raising a fraction as she stared hard at the female before her. She looked strong from what Ardala could see, albeit weakened from what she could only assume was hard travel, and her mother would have wanted her in the pride no doubt. If only Ardala was as eloquent as her mother was. "I am Ardala, heir to the Queen of the Kunanda'Nakhun." She used the common titles, only because she knew most rogues didn't understand what Adhi-Raj or Juva-Raj meant. She didn't go into any of the details, either, like the fact that she was one of two candidates for heir, or that her mother was one of two queens. Simplicity was the key to making an impression, she'd always found. "I'm afraid you're in our territory, and unless you plan on joining our ranks, I must ask you to leave." Though she has used the term 'ask', her tone hadn't softened, and it was clear there was truly no choice in the matter. If Ardala couldn't get her to leave by her own force, she'd find her mother, no matter what toh she'd endure for it.
