Name: Suri
Age: Physically she looks to be around 23 years of age; in reality she is close to 1,700 years old (living during the Yamato dynasty's start)
Gender: Female
Skin Color / Race: a pale skin color, flawless, almost porcelain like, but with a tint enough to show liveliness. Asian.
Physical Description: (Pictures are acceptable.) Suri stands at around 5 feet 5 inches, slightly taller than an average Asian female. She has silvery eyes that rarely reveal anything, and full lips that always seem to be set in a grim line. Her nose is slightly flat, but it doesn't make her face any less appealing. Her eyebrows are a bit arched and perfectly shaped. Her hairline is just a bit closer to her eyes than her chin is from her eyes (it's almost proportional to the "ideal beauty" for those artists out there! =P), and she has straight black hair that falls past her waist. It is thick and voluminous, full of a healthy shine...and perfect for concealing thin weapons. Her hair is usually done in an array of styles. She leaves her hair down when out of battle, but during formal occasions it is usually done up in a sleek and elegant bun. During battle she makes a single braid and does the upper half in a bun, leaving the rest to hang down her back. In both battle and formal occasions, her bun has two sleek chopsticks protruding out at a tilted 90 degree angle from each other. (More on the chopsticks and braid in the extra section)
Zanpaku-to: (achieved) ( Touketsu~shin is symbolic of Suri in that she no longer possesses the ability to truly love. It is a pure white blade, and so cold it burns (think about metal that gets heated until it is pure white. Now imagine that kind of heat cold.) The hilt is like the crisscrossed katana hilts, except the bottom is gray, and the ribbons are silver with metallic linings braided in. There is a small chain that hangs off of the end of the hilt. The metal rings are about 4 inches long, and at the end is a round pendant into which is carved a picture of a Siberian tiger, Asian dragon, and Phoenix with an elaborate mountains and sakura petal blossoms background. It is similar to the seal of royal houses, with a complicated picture on a metal piece about an inch and a half in diameter. It is an ice-type zanpaku~to. The spirit of her sword is a huge Siberian Tiger that stands at 6 feet tall when on all fours. In the sealed form, Touketsu~shin is able to freeze whatever the blade touches, heal minor cuts or burns, and can nullify kidou under level 10. Suri is able to freely create ice as long as one of two conditions is met: a) the outside temperature is below freezing (32F, 0C), OR b) the substance is water. Although anything else can be frozen at a low enough temperature, water is the basic medium, and thus, the only one Suri can control while Touketsu~shin is sealed.
Shikai: (achieved) Touketsu~shin's shikai form is that it becomes a large snowflake with a diameter of 6.5 feet, the hilt located as a handle in the center. When Suri rapidly spins snowflake though, it compresses into a broad-sword with a thick hilt. Spinning the broadsword again re-opens it to the snowflake form. The snowflake itself is put to good use to cover a wide area to turn into ice, or it is usually an effective shield since it is taller than Suri. The ice formed in shikai mode only lasts for five minutes in battle mode, and 10-15 minutes in healing mode (depending on the wound). ***Its most obvious ability is that it can create ice by the blast of air following the blade's swing. Contact with the zanpaku~to's blade is not needed to create ice. Fire is not a clear disadvantage since heat creates steam and condensation which leads to a re-freeze, but the problem with fire is the reiatsu required to sustain the ice form. Against a weaker fire-type, the ice form is not hard to sustain. Captains can vaporize this ability in their bankai, sometimes shikai, although it can be used long enough to slow them so that Suri will be able to attack.Essentially it can nullify a water user's attacks depending on the user (e.g. stopping a Captain's tsunami would be impossible). ***It can also do things such as numb people's joints so that they cannot effectively attack. When frozen, Suri can shatter things by smashing them with her blade. This does not apply to shinigamis, but it makes it easier for her to cripple them since their bodies are too stiff to relax properly (cripple = broken bones and such). Suri cannot freeze other zanpaku~tos since they are made of a person's reiatsu. ***If Touketsu~shin in shikai mode comes into contact with a zanpaku~to, or reiatsu in general, it will create an icicle explosion that will throw out deadly shards, the brunt being in the direction that Suri was swinging her zanpaku~to. This applies only to kidou attacks above level 40 (anything under is nullified by the blade), although a strong enough kidou could melt the icicles and continue its attack. If Suri uses the snowflake form to block a kidou, then there is an icicle explosion with the shards flying back into the snowflake (or through the cracks) since the kido was flying towards her. ***There are more restorative properties to touketsu~shin's ice too (lesser power). It is not completely effective, but it is good enough until someone can get to 4th squad. The ice can heal larger burns or close up cuts right away instead of just numbing them. This CANNOT heal vital or organ wounds. While it can cover up a stab through the guts or the heart, chances are it would only give a person about 10-15 extra minutes, tops. When it freezes something stiff, the ice formed in shikai acts as a good cast to set broken bones or dislocated joints, until a medic arrives.

Bankai: (NOT achieved) It will be along the lines of Rurouni Kenshin's reverse blade, a sakabatÅ. The blade stays white/silver, but the hilt turns black. The ice in bankai mode lasts for 10 minutes in battle mode, and nearly 30 minutes in healing mode. ***In this form, Suri can create ice without touching anything, and without moisture. For example, she can freeze the inside of a leaf while leaving it looking normal on the outside. This allows her to create a shield around herself at all times. It also allows her to stop a moving object, including kidous, by either freezing the object itself or creating an ice-wall for them to run into. Since kidous are reiatsu dependant, Suri cannot stop high level kidous (60+), but she can slow them, sometimes enough that they will disappear before reaching her. The same icicle explosion happens on contact of her zanpaku~to with reiatsu (zanpaku~tos and kidou above 60). ***Beyond stopping things, this allows her to freeze the air into shapes, so she can effectively create icicles or objects for people to run into. This cannot be done to touch a person instantly though - the icicle has to be created with at least a hand-span between the person and the icicle tip (the last part formed). ***Since she can freeze the air into shapes, one of the most common things that she does is summon Touketsu~shin's spirit, so essentially she has a Siberian Tiger made out of ice fighting by her side. She can still utilize her other attacks when Touketsu~shin is summoned, but the ice time for other attacks is greatly reduced to 2 minutes (the ice lasts 2 minutes. Touketsu~shin remains present for as long as she still has reiatsu.) ***Like her shikai, Suri can make it so cold that people's bodies stiffen up and they respond slowly, so she can break bones easily, and it makes it easier for her to dodge most things since she is immune to the cold and thus not slowed by it. If she physically manages to touch a person with her hand, then she can freeze them solid. Of course this is rare since almost nobody gets touched by hand.
An additional ability / control is gained in bankai (how it comes about will be revealed when Suri actually gets trained for bankai). This ability is pressure. This is related since the formation of ice is affected by not just temperature, but also by pressure.

Personality: Suri is usually a very distant and cold person. She is formal in an almost archaic way, bowing at certain respectful angles depending on a person's position. Random note: Her current obsession is her discovery of the modern Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. She is a tea lover and in her spare time tries to come up with her own concoctions. She has a hidden greenhouse where she breeds plants specifically for the tea-leaves they can yield. Usually Suri is anti-social, so she is often mistaken for stuck-up and thus gets a lot of "in your-face, rebellious" shinigami attitudes. She tries not to let it bother her, but since she is commonly serious and mature, she has a low toleration for immature fledglings who try to act out. However, she is always willing to help, even though sometimes people take it the wrong way or as interference. Often times she makes it clear that she does not want to discuss her past, although a lot of things remind her of it, so she drops random comments at times that hint at it. She is skilled with reading and writing, generally signs of a reclusive, but she does not mind sparring and meeting new people. However, she doesn't know how to talk to new people very well...
History: To give the shorter version: Suri was a peasant girl in a rural farming village in China. Since she was on the Silk Road, she came to possess knowledge in a variety of dialects. One year, during a famine, her father sold her off to traders on the Silk Road. The traders took her to the east coast of China and then sold her across the sea to Japan where she entered a warring lord's home. He tried to win her over with roses, causing her to detest roses. After getting impatient, he forced himself on her and after that she worked as a mistress/harem girl/maid in his house. One day, angered, she killed him. Experiences with the rough-shod men of rukongai continued after death and from that Suri possesses a slight fear and a large hatred of men.
Extra: In battle, when Suri braids up her hair and does the bun with the chopsticks, the chopsticks are actually poisoned tip blades. Very small, almost like a needle, except far sturdier. She pushes a button on the side of the chopstick and the top sinks into the hollow, revealing the poison tipped blades. Of course, no one can tell it's poisoned. As for the braid, Suri braids a blade into the braid, so by whipping her hair around, she can slice people up. This too can be poisoned at times, but it is far less efficient to do so since the poison either flies off or gets used up really fast, so Suri rarely poisons the blade in her hair. The weight of the blade also allows it to have a "truer" swing, so it is far more accurate than a "blind attempt" at swinging her hair at her opponent.
Extremely deep Reiatsu reservoir - as the Vice of 5th squad, Suri possesses an extremely large amount of reiatsu that few others can hope to attain (although there are some with larger reiatsu reserves than she, they are very few).

Long Version of Suri's History:
Hoisting the woven bamboo basket onto her shoulder, Suri headed back to her home to wash up for the tonight. With the traders and travelers in town for Sunday, tomorrow would be her day of rest. Her parents would not object to her wandering around a bit, especially since she had managed to pick more than her fair share of the rice from the paddies that day.

Shunpo Training:http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=12940715&page=10Posted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 6:17 pm :Watching the people train in the kido on the kidou ranges, Suri chose to skirt around them, leaving a wide berth in case any kido was misfired. It heartened her to see some activity occurring and training happening, but Suri knew that with Captain Nagi's new proclamation it might be a while before the kido training would start again.
Besides her long black hair, bunned at the top and then braided down her back, Suri was not recognizable. She had traded her signature red-white demon kimono and black battle outfit for a pair of black shorts and a pale yellow t-shirt. It was her exercise outfit, and she further emphasized the point with the water-bottles she held steadily in her hands. For the first time, she would be trained in a an advance technique, namely, shunpo. Since her speed category had been lacking for a while, Suri was eager to start. Although she was more of a spell-caster, reiatsu user, she still desired to be more well-rounded in all aspects. It would not do to seem as such a lop-sided Lieutenant, helpful in only certain situations. She also had full faith in her teacher, Mock, to train her well. Although he was not as speedy as Rhia, he still had mastered the ability well enough to use it efficiently in most, if not all, situations.
Upon reaching the edge of the kido ranges and entering the open field, Suri set her water-bottles down on a low cement bench and started warming-up. Since shunpo required more leg movement than much else, she paid close attention to stretching her quadriceps, hamstring, and gastrocnimius. There was nothing she hated more than crippling herself, and pulling a muscle would probably take her out of action, even if just for a bit.:
Posted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 6:50 pm Although I'm quite amused to see you stretch... Mock jested... I believe that's pretty much pointless for the exercises we are about to perform!!! While following Suri to the Kidou Ranges, Mock deviated from the path - not only to take a look at his old squad, but also to allow Suri to be the first to reach the training grounds. After taking his time, the Shinigami shumpoed to a nearby bench, and silently watched his kidou teacher - shumpo student!
In fact, you should refrain from using your leg muscles... If you use them, then you're doing it wrong!!! He grinned. Though, by all means... You can continue to show me, the extent of your "stretching abilities"!!! He closed his eyes as his grin got wider. He was, however, ready to duck at any moment, in case Suri would throw him a rock or one of the water bottles, to make him shut up!... - which he kind of expected, for taking a joke too far...
Scratching his forehead, beneath his kasa, Mock stood up and walked to his student. He He!!!... Sorry!!!... Anyway... Having faith in your abilities, I'm going to skip a couple of steps and go straight into the important stuff... thingie... He looked around embarrassed, since he was at a loss for words... Mock frowned as he began a new sentence. It will be much harder!!!... But it will also take less time...
An indigo natured reiatsu began to escape from within Mock's body. It was a somewhat smooth-looking aura, almost tangible for those with senses keen enough to perceive it. Debris started rising into the air and spiraling around Mock, while his haori and scarf gently undulated as if buffeted by a gentle breeze, as did his hair on the edges of the hat.
Without moving a single muscle on his body - other than his right hand, to scratch the tip of his nose - Mock started to levitate in the air, and stopped after reaching - roughly - 3 meters above the ground level.
Come and join me Suri-san... He said with a smile, having complete confidence that she would be able to do that. This is your first challenge...
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 3:47 pm :Watching Mock hover slightly above her head, Suri closed her eyes. She focused on what she had witnessed instead, especially how he had concentrated reiatsu in his feet. It was not something that she was unfamiliar with - she had done it herself during the kido training in order to skim over the surface of the water. The difference lay in the fact that she usually maintained a minimal height. Bolstering her weight up just a bit more required more reiatsu force and concentration.
Suri started channel her reiatsu into her feet, down through her heels and sole, envisioning the indigo reiatsu that Mock had exuded. Although less than in her feet, Suri maintained a steady flow in the rest of her body in order to keep her balance. Feeling the spirit energy flow rapidly around in her feet, from her toes to her ankles and back, Suri started to expel the reiatsu around her body. With a gentle pressure, she pushed the reiatsu outward so that it concentrated between her and ground, slowly lifting her up.
Once Suri was about two feet off of the ground, she could feel herself start to wobble. It was unsettling, feeling like she was going to fall and seeing that nothing was actually even under her feet, but she sent more reiatsu coursing through her body, loosening up her muscles. Shoving a bit more reiatsu out the bottom of her feet, Suri looked up at Mock instead, letting her feet sense the solidity created by the reiatsu without having her eyes tell her muscles the opposite. Gently, careful not to accelerate too fast or else she would shoot up, Suri slowly came to about eye-level with Mock, holding her hands out slightly to keep herself from tilting too much.:
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:08 pm MockaDash smiled warmly. Nicely done!!! Now I know what we're up against... He said, referring to the degree in wich she could focus the reiatsu on a specific region of her body in order to achieve a specific result.
But if you don't mind me asking... Why the trouble Suri-san??? It seems as if you're walking on air??? He inquired, waiting to see how she would react to what he just said... Weren't you just stretching??? Now you don't even seem to be able to maintain your balance on those two legs of yours!!! What seems to be the problem??? Although it might seemed like it, Mock wasn't being rude to Suri... She just had to realize something on her own...
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:24 pm :Giving a hint of a wry grin, Suri dropped her arms, increasing the reiatsu level so that she could stay levitated on air. It was simple to achieve, as long as she kept a focused gaze on Mock. She even daringly took a step forward on her left foot, keeping in mind that the reiatsu expelled was forceful enough to be as solid as normal ground.
"I believe the problem would be with my own mind's perception," Suri answered. "As long as I do not think of myself as walking on nothing, but rather, think of my reiatsu as more of a tangible, solid substance, than I am able to hover fine. However, once my mind begins to wander and I think of it as there being nothing below my feet, then my balance wavers."
To test out her theory, Suri began to inch to the side a bit. Taking the idea a little at a time though, she slid her feet, rather than raising them and bringing them back down. The later would have required that she either increase the pressure, or feel like she was going to fall on one side momentarily while her other leg was still supported by reiatsu at the starting level. Slowly she scooted a meter to her right, and then back again to her left.:
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:40 pm Yes and No, Suri-san!!! Mock said with a grin. You've showed me that, with some focus, you can control the ability to stand on air... MockaDash sat on air, as if an invisible chair was present there. However, you don't seem to get the theory behind this, yet...
I've leaked more reitasu than I needed to, in order for you to understand what I was doing, by "analyzing" the way I was channeling it... And you did just fine!!! But the secret it's not on my reiatsu...
You see??? You're not standing on air right now, and you were not standing on ground moments ago...
You think that's air you're breathing now???
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:02 pm :Thoroughly confused, Suri stood there silently, gazing off into nowhere particularly. She had never been good with riddles or mind games - her craftiness lie in her ability to respond quickly to situations However, all those were ways of critical thinking and interpreting what she already knew. In modern terms, she was a "text-book learner," able to manipulate what she learned from the "text-books," but when it came to solving something new herself, she had always performed poorly. Even being slightly tangential to a familiar topic was hard to work with. Tangents just did not work for her - she could only deal with things that were contingent upon one another.
"I am afraid I not understanding this very well," Suri commented aloud. "Are you referring to the atoms and particles that the ground and air are composed of? You said it is not dependent on my reiatsu, but I can imagine that I am breathing in the reiatsu that I am exuding right now. If it is not the particular terms of 'ground' and 'air,' are you talking about the particular atoms of oxygen, nitrogen, and such? I suppose in a way that could work. Since atoms have electrons that travel at ridiculously high speeds, then the energy that stems from that speed might be enough for a person to stand solidly on.":
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 6:10 pm He He!!!... You're over thinking it!!!MockaDash replied. The correct answer would be Spirit Particles!!! You're standing on them!!!
Everything around us, everything that comprises Soul Society, is made of spirit particles!!! The ground, you, me, our clothes, even the air around us!!! That why you can stand on air... You're actually standing on Spirit Particles!!!
By using our reiatsu we can interact with Spirit Particles as if solid objects. You talked about molecules, so here's an example for you: On Earth, every entity interacts with its surroundings... Humans can swim through water thanks to its density, and that's also the reason why they can't move through air - like birds do. Attrition, inertia, kinetic and potential forces, they all apply to their movements! As well as mass, density, area, etc. Not to mention interactions at an atomic level, such as repulsive and attractive forces!!! As I stated earlier, a human can propel himself through water by interacting with it, as he can hold a sword in his hands, also by interacting with the molecules of which the sword is made! Our Zanpakutous are also made of Spirit Particles, and that's why we can hold them and be cut by them . and only them!!! By using our reiatsu, we can "mold" spirit particles to our desire - in a certain degree in relation to our skills - So I can sit on thin air as if I was sitting on a chair, because I'm actually molding the Spirit Particles on the air to sustain my weight like a chair would!!!
Do you understand me so far??? As he said that, Mock undressed his haori while remaining sit, revealing a naked torso. The haori fell to the ground... However, since my clothes have no reiatsu of their own, they fall to the ground... Only actively using reiatsu can Spirit Particles be manipulated, so an object or living entity without strong enough reiatsu, cannot manipulate spirit particles like we're doing!!!
Mock stood up once more, and walked towards Suri, stopping an inch from her face. So, you see??? If we trust and believe that we are walking on something solid, we can actually pull it off!!! He gave her a wide grin while taking a couple of steps back.
You have enough reiatsu control to mold the particles, as you have proven. You just need to believe in yourself now!!!!!
Ready for step two???
Posted: Wed Feb 11, 2009 8:18 pm :Understanding the concept that MockaDash was explaining, Suri blushed slightly. Although she had read many books about the modern science of Earth, in case she ever had an important mission there, she had neglected researching the Soul Society in which she had been living for thousands of years. However, as Mock's comments made the idea clear to her, Suri started sending out her reiatsu more, probing and imagining her spirit energy meshing itself with the surrounding spirit particles. As that concept became easier, Suri found that she could create a good enough base of spiritual energy and particles for her to sit on, as Mock had demonstrated early.
Realizing that the lesson was not yet over, Suri stood up hastily and bowed in apology, commenting lowly, "I apologize. Please, continue with the lesson Lieutenant Mock.":
Posted: Thu Feb 12, 2009 6:17 pm You act funny when you're nervous!!! Mock said with with a smile, referring to how she sometimes used politeness as a way to mask her embarrassment. Mock actually wished he could be like her in that aspect, instead of acting awkwardly and clumsy every time he felt uncomfortable with something or someone.
As he smiled, Mock's kasa hat began to float on top of his head, and spiraled around itself. His reiatsu was being focused around the hat.
Remember what I just told you, and do something like this... He said to Suri, while stretching forward his right arm and making a "V" sign with his index and middle fingers. This is step two!!!
Posted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:41 pm :Unsure of what to levitate, Suri glanced around her, hoping to be able to find something that would not be too hard to manipulate at first try. She had no loose articles of clothing on her, and unlike Mock she rarely ever wore hats. Her eyes finally settled on the small water bottle she had left on the bench.
Concentrating fiercely, Suri started to emit reiatsu from her body, her eyes burning a bright shade of amber. Slowly, the water bottle rose shakily from the bench. However, about an inch off of the bench's surface, it began to wobble unevenly. It demonstrated to Suri the horrible choice it had been. Because of the water that was in the bottle, once it started to move up, she could not control the sloshing inside. Since the reiatsu energy only affected the outside bottle, the water inside was still free to move about as it please.
Concentrating harder, Suri focused more reiatsu towards that. She lowered herself down in the process, not wanting to concentrate on floating too many things at once. Also, she was unsure of how much energy the shunpo training would take, so she did not want to expend too much to start with.
As more reiatsu gathered around the bottle, swirling rapidly, the bottle gained height, tipping to each side in a swaying motion. However, remembering that Mock had spiraled his hat, Suri started using her reiatsu to turn the bottle as it levitated. Since the constant centripetal force kept the water to the edges and fairly even displaced, making the bottle float became an easier task. Suri turned to Mock for a hint of correction or confirmation when the bottle was about a meter off of the bench.:
Posted: Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:28 pm Nice work, Suri-san!!! Mock said with a smile. Let's move on to the third and final step, where you will actually need to flash-step!!!... You will now have to put into practice both previous concepts I've explained to you!!!
You already understood that everything around you is comprised of spirit particles, and also, you've realized that by controlling the spirit particles around you - resorting to your reiatsu - you can move objects around! Providing we aren't talking about a "subject" that doesn't oppose your "manipulation" - sort of speaking - like for example another Shinigami of course...
What you do in order to flash-step, is simply combine these two "steps" into one, and apply them to yourself and your surroundings...
I'll explain with further detail... You "manipulate" the spirit particles under your feet, using your reiatsu, and force them to move you from one place to the other!!! Think of it as riding an escalator!... You see? It's different than you moving by yourself, it actually is the surrounding spirit particles that are moving and by doing that, carrying you around!...
I'll demonstrate as slow as possible... After saying that, Mock slowly gathered some reiatsu under his feet, in order for Suri to be able to perceive it. He purposely forced the air beneath him to shift, making it possible for her to actually see (rather than only feel) the spirit particles in the air beneath his feet being moved at his whim.
Suddenly, MockaDash vanished, only to reappear behind Suri. He tapped her on the shoulder and gently said to her, behind her hear... And that is how you shumpo!!! Now you try!!!
Posted: Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:58 pm :Suri watched as the reiatsu under Mock's feet swirled with increasing energy. They gathered in a larger concentration than normal, though that would not have been truly evidently unless Suri could detect them also. Almost right after that, the particles seemed to accelerate, bringing along with them the things in proximity to them. If it had not been for Mock's analogy with the escalator, Suri would have associated the movement with being punched so hard that she ended up flying to a different location. Of course, moving by spirit particles was a more versatile concept than an escalator since people could still twist and turn almost instantaneously.
"This may be an interesting experiment...to say the least," Suri grinned weakly. "Perhaps I will stay close to the ground for now."
Maintaining her height off of the ground, roughly three inches, Suri started to gather the spirit particles under her feet, boosting herself for the solid feeling. After that, she had to pick a target towards which to attempt to move herself. The large tree nearby was appealing because of its visibility and distance, but Suri thought better of it. If she lost control, she would rather fall on soft grass instead of flinging herself into a tree. Spotting an uneven tuft of grass about ten feet away, Suri decided to focus her attention on that.
Concentrating on the movement of the spirit particles under her feet, Suri willed them to move her. It would have felt a bit ridiculous, like she was trying to establish a telepathic connection with the spirit particles, if Suri had not already been attuned to reiatsu from all the kido training. Slowly, she started to propel herself forward, but the spirit particles jumped ahead, already recognizing where she wanted to go. Suri felt herself tumble slightly, as if a platform was being whisked out from under her feet. Quickly regaining her balance, Suri looked up to see herself by the tuft of grass, turned around to face Mock again.
"Whoa," Suri whispered. "I am not quite sure I got the hang of that.":
Posted: Tue Mar 10, 2009 7:26 pm When Suri turned around to face Mock, he already wasn't there. A small laughter was heard from behind Suri, not a mocking one but instead a pleased one. MockaDash was behind the Shinigami, not able to hide his enjoyment for her success - for a first try! Not bad!!! Not bad at all!!! Not that I expected otherwise from you, Suri-san!!! I had no doubt in my mind, that due to your extensive kidou training, you would have no problem whatsoever in grasping the mechanics of shumpo!!!
Resting his back on the tree nearby, Mock continued... It was very good for a first try!!! But of course, practice makes perfection!!!... I think you tumbled a bit only because you tried to move too fast right away... You're not accustomed to it... And you still need much further training before gaining the proper speed to use this technique effectively in battle - I mean, to outmatch your foes' shumpo or sonido!!!
For now, I believe it's best, if you focus on stability of execution, rather than speed or distance!!! Remember that speed is not the only factor in play, since the further away you try to shumpo, the harder it also is to do it!... That's due to the fact that you have to "force" the spirit particles into carrying you for a greater length, of course...
Stretching his arms, Mock yawned before sitting close to the tree, under its shade, and leisurely say to Suri... So what now??? You still need further training like I just pointed out... You could do it by yourself at any time, or you can take advantage of me being here and do some more training right now... If you do, I can give you more advices and point out what it is you need to improve...
Ultimately, the decision is up to you, since I already did most of what I could do here...
Covering about two thirds of his face, with his hat, Mock (almost) muttered some final words... ...Or you could just keep me company by the shade...
PostPosted: Wed Mar 11, 2009 8:32 pm :Giving a slight smile at Mock's compliment, Suri started to zip around a bit more. She maintained the same height off of the ground though since her form was still wobbly. At one point she seemed to tip forward, as if tripping on an invisible rock, and landed with her palms on the ground, but her knees in the air. She laughed nervously, embarrassed to be caught in such an awkward position, but she clambered back up, ready to try again. Slowly, she was able to make it from the tuft of grass to Mock without falling, but her speed was not exponentially faster than if she had been running. In truth, her speed was about the same as what she would have managed if she had released the ice of her shikai stage and slid along the ground.
Deciding to save true speed for when she could confidently propel herself on spirit particles without falling, Suri decided to attempt it at a higher altitude. It required more focus on her part since she had to have force acting on the spirit particles in two direction, and having them push her up a meter from the ground was a far greater distance over which to lose control than a mere three inches.
Hefting herself higher, Suri started to add on speed with the spirit particles, not aiming too high, but just enough so that she would at least move a tad faster than how she would have gone on her shikai ice. Starting off slow, rather than instantly accelerating herself like Mock did, Suri managed to get the wind blast through her hair. It was exhilarating to be traveling at such a high speed, but Suri had to keep herself from getting lost in the feeling. A slight tumble made her fall a few inches, and after regaining her composure, Suri continued on, careful to pay more attention to the spirit particle manipulation.
Gradually, she managed to get from the tuft of grass to Mock in shade, traveling quickly enough so that her image blurred, but not fast enough to completely disappear. She had also managed to gain a fair height of 1.5 meters off of the ground, but not too much higher than that.:
Posted: Wed Mar 11, 2009 9:28 pm ...As expected... Mock said to himself, as Suri continued her training, leaving him to rest under the tree's shade. The Shinigami reached for his sake bottle and took a small sip, before finishing his sentence... ... Always the enterprising one!!!
Although apparently distracted and aloof, MockaDash was actually paying close attention to Suri's efforts in mastering the basis of Shumpo. He even grinned slightly, when she landed with her hands on the ground. He kept drinking from the bottle, while happily humming a familiar tune and tapping with his foot, following the song's rhythm.
Suri was steadily showing progress. Nicely done, Suri-san!!! Mock complimented with a smile, after all those attempts. You seem to be getting the hang of it!!! Are you tired? Do you want to rest for a while???
...Though... You realize, there is still much room for improvement, don't you???
Think fast!!! While the words were still coming out of his mouth, Mock threw the sake bottle he was holding on his right hand, at Suri's face. He wanted to ascertain her reflexes at the time, and what her reaction would be... Only after he had thrown it, did he thought of the worst possibility that could come out of his action! - He then hoped that she would not be struck by it on the face... That would hurt!
Posted: Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:19 pm :Suri glanced up when Mock asked her if she wanted to rest. Pausing in mid-air, she assessed her state-of-being briefly. It was true that she was getting weary, and the constant use of reiatsu was starting to take a toll. No doubt she was enduring a bit better than she had thought, but it was still difficult for her to maintain such a constant pressure on spirit particles in various directions.
As she was about to lower herself back to the ground, Suri saw Mock's bottle come flying towards her. It was too quick for her to react, and instinctively, Suri tried to dodge it by putting her hands up and stepping to the side. Unfortunately, she forgot that she was floating on air. With a gasp, Suri's right foot fell the one and a half meter, wrenching her left ankle before that too came tumbling down.
"Ah, that was not a pretty sound," Suri muttered to herself as she tried to prop herself back up. A sharp, definitive pain shot up her left leg, piercing every muscle from her soleus to her hamstrings and quadriceps. "Well, I guess that will not work."
Deciding to opt for an alternative, Suri used spirit particles to push herself off of the ground again. While she could, she might as well practice the basics of shunpo. Without speeding up any, Suri focused on controlling the spirit particles so that they could propel her to the shade without her moving. Coming under the leafy canopy, Suri gradually lowered herself to the ground, where she toppled down to, her hands coming out first so that her left leg could be brought down gently without a jarring impact.
"Sorry for that ditzy display," Suri said to Mock as she grabbed her wattle-bottle. "I usually am more prepared for such circumstances. It seems my reflexes to run away with shunpo is non-existent at present."
Taking a swig of water, Suri laughed lightly to herself before settling down to massaging her leg. She probed her ankle gently to be sure that nothing was broken, fractured, or twisted oddly, and finding that all was well enough, Suri gently rubbed in circles around her ankle.:
Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2009 5:45 pm Are you alright, Suri-san??? Mock asked with a worried expression on his face. Did you strain your ankle??? Does it hurt much??? Want me to massage it for you!!! He started to smile...
Gazing at the sky, while leaning back to rest against the trunk of the tree, he said... I wanted to see if you've reached a point where shumpo is instinctive enough for you to do, as running or jumping is... But guess you haven't reached that point yet... Well no worries!!! In time I'm sure you will!!! (( say... 3 years for example, would be enough I guess! icon_xp.gif ))
I do apologize however for the method I choose to test that!!! You could've got hurt bad, I rushed without thinking!!!...
Mock yawned and close his eyes to rest, waiting for Suri to say something... He was, however, enjoying the (somewhat unusual) quietude of the training grounds. Only the leaves being buffeted by the wind, could be heard. This was definitively a "comfortable silence".
Posted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 9:08 pm :Slowly letting go of her ankle and easing it to the ground, Suri lightly tapped the heel of her foot a couple times. It held up fairly well, and although she could feel slight shocks of pain running through her leg, there was nothing unbearable about it. Using her hands to brace herself, Suri pushed off from the ground, leaning on the tree a bit so that she would not place too much weight on her left leg.
"No, I think I shall be alright," Suri thanked Mock for his concern. "Unfortunately, I am afraid I wholly agree with you. It will take me a bit of time to reach a point where I can successfully react with shunpo. I think I shall practice quite often in the upcoming future."
Turning her head slightly, Suri noticed a small black butterfly alight on her shoulder. Studying its strange wing pattern, Suri realized that it was a Hell Butterfly, delivering a message to her. Listening closely, Suri glanced back up at Mock and bowed respectfully at a steeper angle.
"Congratulations on your new promotion Captain," she murmured. "I understand how busy you are now with a new squad, and I greatly appreciate the time you took to train me.":
