Laughingstar paced the border of her pack's land anxiously. Today was the day that Suk was coming to visit, and she was going to show him around her life. She was nervous with excitement, apprehension, and just plain nervousness. What if he didn't like it enough? What if she couldn't answer all his questions (if he had that many, that is)?

She was so nervous. It was entirely unlike her. So she took a breath and sat down, closing her blind eyes and concentrating on absolutely nothing. This helped to clear her mind and she now had a smile on her face, ready for anything. Or so she hoped.

Her ears were pricked forward to listen for the familiar sound of his footfalls, as quiet as they were. Her nose was ready to pick up his scent as soon as she could, as soon as he came into range.

Suk said he would come visit her. Not like he wouldn't it just was a different circumstance. For one, this female made him interested in her. Something about her-her eyes really entranced him. Something about them-how they saw bit did not see. Not to mention, he actually liked talking to her. Usually he did not talk to anyone, just gave them nasty looks or what ever. He for one-was totally acting out of his norm at this moment.

Chasing some female he barely knew. She was younger than him too-which was something new to get used too. This wasn't all set in stone though, he may not stay with her-though he would like to... Why he didn't know.

He stepped quietly, like he always did-in the direction in which her lands were. His golden eyes kept alert for her form.

She didn't know why she was so excited. Just to see a random wild dog? One that she had just met? No, she knew. It was all because of him. Laughingstar didn't know if he felt the same, but something had definitely happened when they had first met. The feeling still sent shivers down her spine. Was it the same for him? She had no idea.

She hoped so, at least.

His scent suddenly flooded her nose; her head whipped around in that direction and she knew he was here.

"Suk!" she called out, happily trotting towards him. She had no doubt in her mind that it was him. She had practically memorized everything about him.

He was sure that this was some silly idea in his and her head-why would anyone want him to come stay with them? He wasn't one for such, happiness but for some reason it dwelled in his heart and breath. It was like sweet water flowing from a water fall... her voice. He lifted his head and spotted her when the 'sweet water' escaped her lips. He smiled, heading her direction with a slightly wagging tail. Even in her blind state, she could tell he was there...

"Laughing star!" He called, walking a bit quicker as to ease her need to move. He stepped over a few brambles and came closer to her, seeing her made his eyes water with delight. "I found you... that was easier than I thought."

She laughed. "I know, finding things is a lot easier than it sounds," she replied with a smile, meeting him but stopping a foot or so away. Now it seemed...awkward, but not in a really bad way. If she knew exactly who he was and he knew her, and they were closer than just they were now (a bit better than strangers with an unique, interesting bond), she would have greeted him with a hug or a lick on the cheek or something more personal. At the very least.

But since they hadn't reached that point just yet, she couldn't well do something like that now, could she? Laughingstar settled for a wide grin as her tail wagged lightly from side to side.

Suk simply gave a shrug, though he realized she could not see it. That would be something he'd have to get used to her with. Considering. He wondered what ranking he'd qualify as if he stayed in this pack. But how could he not, just looking at her confirmed it. He rolled his shoulders, looking about a bit briefly at the surroundings.

"I wonder what I would be go at..." He said aloud, sort of giving the ground a sniff. He never really considered himself good at one particular thing... living and he supposed.

"Well, what do you like to do?" she tried asking instead, trying to focus on what he already liked to do rather than something he was particularly good at. Every single wild dog (and creature, for that matter) had a specialty. It just took a bit longer to find it with some.

For example, she did like to help others. Scouting wasn't an option, as she couldn't see, but being a finder fit her perfectly. It was exciting to hear that he was thinking even more about staying in the pack. With her.

He sat back and thought for a moment. Things he liked to do. He really didn't like to do things-he just did them. HE couldn't really see himself doing things only because he liked them. He looked to her in silent thought. "I like to hunt." he said plainly, not sure what else would qualify. "And if sleeping counts... stalking too."

He paused. "Otherwise i'm..." He never really liked to sit and think of all the good things he was good at. It seemed to self absorbed. "Good at stalking."

She giggled. "You could be a hunter. Or a scout, which means you can watch and follow things if they seem suspicious," she offered with a slightly teasing smile. Laughingstar shook her head when a small bug whizzed by her ear a little bit too close for comfort.

"You don't have to choose something the moment you join, if you're still going to. The chieftess won't demand something like that of you so soon." At least, she hoped not. It wasn't totally unreasonable.

With the pups finally able to be looked after by some of the other adults for a while she felt as if she was finally coming back to herself. Wisdomchaser set out to see how the rest of the pack was doing, a normal routine. There was also the next hunt to organize, but that could wait a little bit. She'd picked up an unknown scent mingling with Laughingstar's.

Strangers were not unwelcome as long as they stayed outside of the pack's borders (For like most wild animals they were very touchy about their territory being invaded, especially with enemies like the "Trolls" about.), and this stranger was indeed no further than the border, but it made her concern no less.

Cautiously she strode forward, silently observing once within range but then allowing herself to be noticed as she spoke out.

"Laughingstar... Who is your friend?" She asked with gentle curiosity, ears perked forward as she glanced casually over the male, coming to stand by the brown and white female, greeting her with a gentle buff to the shoulder from her nose. This one had come to them young, naturally she was a little more gentle with her, as such. She wasn't like her father, gruff and blunt. She didn't mind taking her time a bit.

Laughingstar greeted her chieftess with a light lick to the muzzle, smiling. "Greetings, chieftess. This is Suk, whom I met while roaming around the borders and in the rogue lands a few days ago. He has interest in learning more about our pack and perhaps even joining us."

If anything, too, Wisdomchaser could see and sense the special bond between both wild dogs before the older female. It was more than friendship, something that both dogs could connect on but both seemed to feel a good bit more than just that.

"Suk, this is Wisdomchaser, our chief."

Suk lifted his ears upon hearing the strange dogs words. He shifted closer to Laughingstar, his hip lightly touching hers. He was a bit shy when it came to strangers at this moment, which was strange considering things. Perhaps it was the presence of the blind lady-dog beside him.

He turned his head to Laughingstar as she introduced him. He gave a head bow, shutting his dark eyes as he did so. Their chief was a female, which he found a bit fascinating. He of course was a rouge, so it wasn't his place to judge and he did not. He lifted his head to speak. "Hello." He said.

He wasn't about to break his personality trait of talking little for anyone but Laughing star. He looked a bit hesitantly to the young dog at his side.

"Oh? New blood is always welcome if they're accepting of our ways..." Wisdomchase replied, feeling pleased. After such devastating loss new blood was indeed a gift not to be wasted. Especially with so many little ones running about now, her own cubs included. They needed every watchful eye or swift hunting paw they could come by, though she was curious as to what they should do with the pack expanding so rapidly now. Overhunting the lands could be a problem. It was a concern that needed to be addressed, for certain, but for now one more would not hurt. "Good evening to you, Suk. Welcome to our lands."

Laughingstar happily grinned at both of the other wild dogs, nodding as she too remembered that though there were many little ones around, new blood (as her chieftess put it) was always welcome. And the thought made her tingle a bit, considering that Wisdomchaser was insinuating that Suk would be...
Her...mate.

The wild dog's breath caught but she quickly smoothed it away and looked timidly in Suk's direction, still smiling, to hear his response. She hoped that he would want to stay. With her.

Suk sat and listened to the female speak, the chieftess. He nodded simply, not really speaking much. They would come to learn that his words usually did not come lightly. He looked to Laughingstar and could not help but have the same thoughts. Even though that was very forward of him, there was something about her. How strong she was. It was appealing-by far more appealing than anything else he had ever encountered.

He turned to look at the blind dog and with a straight face, spoke. "I will stay." He said simply, his tail giving a thump against the ground as to add emphasize to his words. "I think Laughingstar won't mind showing me around..."

The blind female's smile widened even more, if that was at all possible, at his answer. He would stay! He was going to stay with her, and stay with the pack, and stay and make a new life out of the good one they had here.

She was so happy!

Laughingstar yipped and wagged her tail in glee, nodding exuberantly. "Yes, yes of course! Of course I'll show you around." She glanced in the direction of her--their--chieftess. "Thank you."

Wisdomchaser smiled softly at the happy exchange of promise. It was good for the soul to see Laughingstar so excited. Wisdomchaser couldn't help but chuckle at the youthful energy about her, even though Suk's quiet mannerisms seemed calming. There were few greater joys to a chief than welcoming trustworthy new blood though, and she trusted Laughingstar's judgment of others.

"Well then, I shall leave you in her capable paws. Laughingstar, be sure to bring him to the father tree tonight, we'll have a Howl to celebrate our new pack brother. Welcome again, young Suk."

She gave one final smile, then turned to leave the two to their business. She now had business of her own, making sure to tell the pack that they'd howl tonight for their newest member, at which time he would also be presented his pack name.
