My dad won't let me download it because he thinks it's like a pirated thing or whatever and that it might cost money. He also thinks it will crash his computer.
Will someone give me some good reasons WHY I should download it? I've never played it before, so I don't have any, but a lot of my friends and other people recommend me to play it instead of FFR. (I'm banned from there anyway)
Also, give me proof to back up your reasons.
mad
Otherwise, I will have to go with my dad....
Stepmania sucks. DX

- It was developed by a couple of people to be distributed freely across the intarweb. No piracy whatsoever. It merely simulates DDR. Besides, Konami has known about it for years and hasn't done anything to attempt to shut them down or anything. 3nodding
- It won't crash your computer at all. I've had it for about 3 years now, and not a single problem yet. Unless your computer's from the stone age, it'll work fine. Doesn't take up much space on the computer, either. My 29 GB hard drive (go ahead and laugh) still has plenty of free space, and I have over 1500 songs.
- Much more customizable. Create your own stepcharts to your own songs, create custom-made nonstop/Oni courses, download new themes. Also, since you have to download every song yourself, you basically choose what is and what isn't on the songlist.
- It helps improve your timing for when you play real DDR, and is great for getting to know stepcharts to harder songs, helping you pass them.
- ...It's fun. rofl
Trust me, once you've played Stepmania, you'll never want to touch FFR again.

(damn!! he got there first) but yeah pretty much everything he said and it has recently been upgraded so it is WAY easier to make your own songs. and if your going to use it make sure your windows service is 2000 or higher

and even if it is in the stone age, odds are you can fiddle with the graphic settings enough to get it to run smoothly wink

All I have to say for stepmania is that... 1. anyone can play it. My aunt plays it, my cousin plays it, my dad plays it, it's easily playable. 2. It's cheap. the only thing you need to buy is pads. and they are pretty cheap, compared to getting pads, the game, and everything else for a console version. 3. almost any computer can run it (except my P2 piece of junk Xb)
BTW 1un4r5h4d0w, My computer has 2 harddrives, 1 is an 80 gig, and the baseherd drive is... 8 gigs. that is not a typo, 8 gigs (only 3 after all the windows XP files, etc.)

well, in response to my last post, it seems that any computer can run it. I just got it working last week. and i forgot a few thngs for the cost: 1. in order to use pads, you need an adapter to hook the pads up to the computer. and 2. you can play with just a keyboard. I'm supprised that no one corrected me on those.
