 The brown and beigh mare stepped lively over the ground. She looked around, curious about everything. Ootachi had gotten herself lost, but you'd never know with the way she was poking her muzzle everywhere. So many new smells and sounds and sights for her to experience!
The mare breathed in deep, content as all get out. "My, what a great day! I wonder what will happen today." She was blissful as she spoke, unawares of any danger that might be around.

 Unbeknown to Ootachi she'd stumbled right into the hunting grounds of a kalona, a small and older kalona, but one none the less. Shade's hunting grounds consisted of a small forest nestled in the groove of two grat mountains and always cast in their shadow and part of the small plain beyond with the fair sized broke flowing into her forest. Shade slipped in and out of the shadows of the nearby forest like she was one with the darkness itself. Wild bi-colored eyes and the bright blue of her flames and mane the only visible attributes that separated her small lithe body from her camouflage. She stared intently at the approaching tree line ahead sniffing softly for the direction that the scent she could so easily smell drifted from. Shade paused at the edge, staying hidden in the shadows and eyed the little mare standing in the sunlight. She cocked her head at the long fluffy tail and sneered before stepping out into the sunlight tossing her head slightly so the chain between her two extra horns jingled a haunting little tune. "Well, hello little fox ... what brings you to my quaint little home." A malicious grin stretched across her face bearing her pearly fangs. She wasn't quiet hungry, but games were always fun.

Ootachi balked at the voice and spun to find its owner. What she got was an eyeful of black and blue, and large webbed wings. Her head tilted to the side in curiousity.
"Your home? Oh, I'm sorry! I had gotten lost, and it smelled rather pleasant here so I had to come to find out what it was," she said with a smile. Now, any other, sane normal mare would have bolted by now, standing not five yards from a Kalona. Ootachi was not normal, nor was she quite sane (if you included her curiousity as a disorder). So it was only reasonable, for her, that she feel nothing but curiousity about the Kalona's appearance.
Nevermind the fact that she didn't even knew that the other mare was Kalona.

Shade's grin pulled back wider over her nags, an innocent uniformed mare .. they were always the best, they way their eyes widened when they finally realized what they'd stepped into, the fear that flooded their veins and smelled so sweet like wine ... just everything about it was delicious.
"Well well is that so? You should really be far more careful little fox, one never knows what lurkers in the shadows waiting to snap little mares up." She snapped her own fangs together with a loud pop and she grinned again snickering crazily.
Shade moved forward, slinking along more like a big cat on the prowl than a small Arabian like horse. Her tail flicking behind her with only the slightest movement.
She sized her prey up, this didn't seem like it would be too hard of a game to play.
Shade cackled again and stretched her wings.

Ootachi's head tilted to the other side. Fox? She wasn't a fox. She was a horse. Yes, she had a fluffy tail, but that didn't mean she was fox.
"I think you are mistaken. I am not a fox. I'm a horse. I've always been a horse... I like those roses on your legs. They are pretty," she said, not paying attention to Shade's cackling. Her blue eyes flitted up to the Kalona's wings, her eyes widening in wonder.
"Wow! I've never seen wings on a horse before! My herdmates are all grounded, and I'm the only one with something at least interesting about them. But wings! They must be wonderful!" Tachi moved closer to the other mare to get a closer look at her wings.
Only Ootachi would be that close a meat eating predator. Lesigh.

The kalona mare's wild eyes narrowed to slits for a moment and she nearly growled, how dare this THING question her understanding of what it was. Shade's tail lashed violently behind her, but the mood swing only lasted for a second then her grin pulled wide across her fangs again. "of course you are a horse Little Fox, but rarely do I ever meet a Soquili worthy to be called by name .. so you have to have a nickname ... and that is Little Fox" She only smirked again as the female commented on her roses, if only this creature knew .. for of course roses growing upon ones legs couldn't survive on water alone.
She held her breath for a moment as the mare grew closer, she smelled sweet and oh so lovely the meat bellow that naturally colored coat must be delicious.
Shade's head jerked up and her wings flared out when the mare got a little to close, behind the black mass were she shadowy shapes of the forest beyond. With Shade's wings being slightly transparent, and allowing one to see behind her, it didn't pose a picture of a creature that could fly .. but if one assumed that they could get in trouble.
She sucked in a breath and snickered to herself "really ... only the best of us have wings Little Fox."
She licked her lips and took half a step back tensing her muscles and readying herself to spring.

A small sliver of sanity, and fear, crept into Ootachi. Some instinctical part of her screamed to run. She took a small step back, her tail bottle brushing. This was irrational, the mare thought. The winged mare wasn't going to hurt her... was she? No of course not, why would she do that? Tachi hadn't done anything to harm her or make her mad, so why would she attack?
Why was she getting the worst feeling she was going to attack?
Not. Good.

Shade rocked back on her haunches tensing the muscles there as a grin stretches back over the pearly fangs in her mouth again. She didn't have the teeth of a herbivore. Her long tail swayed back and forth for a moment, then she sprung up into the air then forward at the creme and brown mare. Her wings flared out again then she folded them up tighter against her sides to protect them from any battle that might start.
She had opened her mouth, preparing ... and hoping that her fangs would find the other mare's jugular.
She could almost taste the sweet blood already, and it made her mouth water. The tendrils of blood lust licking at the edges of her mind, making her see red, and truthfully hindering her thoughts and making her reactions a little slow.

Oh. No. RUN!
Ootachi stood frozen for a moment, watching the Kalona leap at her. No no no no no nononononononononononononononononooooooooooooooooooo! At the last possible moment, the mare turned as if to run. Before she could muster enough thought to start running, Shade's mouth collided with the brown mare's shoulder. Tachi let out a scream of pain and tried to buck.
Her tail lashed about, hoping to hit her attacker. Not that it would do much, concidering. Tachi couldn't think straight, pain and panic maring her thoughts. Only one thought was in her mind.
Get away! Get away! GET AWAY!
The mare struggled and tried to get free, not sure how well it was going to work.

She could care less really if the mare ran or stood there, though a little bit of a struggle would have been fun at least. No sooner had she thought it then the mare moved, but not soon enough to help her though. Shade almost cooed when her teeth slid into flesh and blood pumped into her mouth.
So .. sweet and delicious, like fine wine.
She was savoring the scent when something hit her face. What the! How dare someone eyes try to mosey in on -her- kill! Seeing nothing but red Shade whipped around and lashed out at whatever had tried to attack her.
She let out a blood curdling roar and lept again at her bushy attacker.

Ootachi let out a scream, not really understanding what was going on. Her tail flicked wildly and bushedShe used Shade's distraction to bolt. Eyes wide with fright, she ran, not caring where she was going or whether the Kalona was following her. All she wanted to do was get away, and get away as fast as possible.
Her shoulder burned in pain with every step, but she couldn't afford to limp. She just had to run away.
