Zuri had never been in the Pridelands before. She was almost tempted to not go exploring all over the place simply because Lio wouldn't be with her. But then again, curiosity took control and it wasn't very hard to throw logic to the wind and do what she wanted anyway. Besides: if all the lions were in this peace-loving pride, how much trouble could one lioness get into?
She stopped at her mate's secret watering hole first before she ventured out on the excursion. Last night they had talked about leaving his pride. He wanted to go on an adventure, he claimed, although it was rather sudden for him. While she wasn't complaining about showing him the world she knew and loved, it was probably going to be a bit more complicated than she had originally thought.
Hopefully, though, things would work out.
She kept thinking about this whole thing as she walked around, heading further inland to the Pridelands. She could see Pride Rock from here, too! The lioness paused and tilted her head to one side, admiring the view.

Mivu was, as usual, sulking.
To be honest with himself, he wasn't quite sure why he had been so unhappy as of late. It was like...he was throwing a fit to get attention, much like something he and his siblings would have done in the past when they were younger. This was more befitting a cub than an adolescent, but he didn't really care. At least this gave him something he truly enjoyed: alone time.
He flipped his head to brush back the short hairs of his mane out of his eyes. The lion couldn't wait until he was fully grown; then he could really do whatever he wanted and not have to worry about his parents coming after him.
Or watching future younger siblings. That conversation had gone..alright, with his mother at least, and so now it was possible that another litter was coming. He sighed. At least he wouldn't be the only one roped into cubsitting. He'd make his sisters do it, too, for sure.

As the lioness gazed out into the distance, she spotted a yellow form moving slowly among the green grasses in front of the great Pride Rock. Curious as to know who he was and what he was doing out here by himself, she trotted forward and called out a greeting.
"Hello!" her voice was light and friendly, the ever-present smile once again on her face. Her tail flicked from side to side as she approached the young male. "I'm Zuri! Who are you? I like your fur; it's such a pre--uh, handsome design," she corrected herself quickly. Males could be tricky like that: while girls loved to be complimented on how 'pretty' they were, boys were the opposite. What might be considered 'pretty' about them was taken as an insult.
Point being, boys were weird.
"Do you live here?"

Ohhh, he had been spotted. Rats.
Mivu prepared himself, clearing his face of expression before putting a frown on his face, then turned around to see a happy-go-lioness bounding towards him with a happy (obnoxious) smile on her face. Great. What a fantastic way to start off your sulking day.
He rolled his eyes but stopped moving so she could catch up. She was a pretty adult, that was for sure: her blues and tans were different. She looked like water.
"I'm Mivu," he replied simply, not even bothering to say his whole name. It was too long, too bothersome. He wondered if he could just change his name forever to be his nickname. "..Thank you?" She was strange. Perhaps not all there? Whatever. He didn't care.
"I've lived here my whole life. Do you live here?" Granted, while he hadn't seen her around before, the pride was huge in size and he hadn't been alive long enough to know and recognize every single member.

"Nice to meet you, Mivu!" she said happily, excited at making a new friend. Lio would be so proud of her. Speaking of her mate, he was currently taking a nap since he was so nocturnal. Zuri hadn't quite yet gotten the hang of it, so for now, they were taking turns napping and doing other things, but still managed to spend a good bit of time together. Which was good; she loved spending time with him.
Which was also good: she didn't know if she couldn't spend time with her mate. That would be bad.
"You're welcome! You have striking purple eyes, too. I don't think I've ever seen purple eyes..." the lioness trailed off and stared into Mivu's eyes with a seriousness that wasn't common on her light face. Then she burst into a smile and broke off the awkward moment. "Sorry! I like looking at them, that's all. And I just moved here, I guess. I met my new mate last week and now we're all settled! Although he's been talking about going and exploring, so I don't know how much longer we'll stay here..."

He gave her a weird look, rather uneasy about being stared at. Especially his eyes. He couldn't really look away, since she would just follow with her own stare. It was awkward and strange and...Mivu was immensely glad when she finally stopped.
He declined to comment on her comment about his eyes.
"Who's your new mate?" he asked, curious to see if he recognized the name. "And did you come here from the rogue lands? Did you travel much, then?"
If anything was to spark his interest in a conversation, then it was talk of traveling. He would have left the moment he turned old enough, but Mivu loved his family too much to leave them for too long. Although it was mainly just his parents; the young lion figured they would be devastated if he left them for an 'adventure.' So he had pushed it off.
Perhaps once he finally grew, like he hoped, then he would have the chance to go on a little adventure.

"Kialio!" she said proudly, turning around and pointing to the direction she had come from. "We live over there now, near the edges of the border. It's the best place to look at stars at night and we have our own little secret watering hole. I mean, oops." She hadn't meant to say something about the water hole, but the whole situation and new life she had was just too exciting for her to keep in now. At least she hadn't said where the watering hole was, and what it looked like. That was still a secret.
For now.
She nodded. "I used to live in the roguelands, yep. It was lots of fun, but I was lonely too. Have you ever gone out of the Pride Lands to go exploring on your own?"

Mivu chuckled lightly. "I don't know of any Kialio, but congratulations on becoming mates." A smile twitched at his cheek and his eyes crinkled at Zuri. "I won't tell anyone of your secret watering hole. I have my own, anyway, so I don't need yours," he teased. Besides: like he would go up there and intrude on a lion couple's privacy anyway. Yuck.
"What kind of things did you do in the roguelands? Where did you go? No, I haven't gone out yet. I'm still...trying to decide if it would be worth it, really." He glanced over his shoulder back to the direction of his family's den.
"My family is here, and as much of a pain they are, I love them, and I don't really want to leave them." The adolescent shrugged. "But would it be worth it? To leave, for a little while, but come back?"

Zuri beamed at him with a huge smile on her face. "Thank you! Do you have a mate?" He was a handsome young lion, so she wouldn't be surprised if he didn't already have girls falling for him in every direction.
"I explored," she giggled. "I walked around a lot, but tried to come back and sleep in the same place every night unless I was really walking around and moving to a new place. It's tough finding a good den at night when you can't see anything and you're tired enough to fall asleep standing up. I don't recommend it."
She thought for a moment, tilting her head to one side to consider his question. "I would. Just because sometimes, you need that 'new' feeling in your life. Because the life you're living now is one you've known all your life and you don't know anything else but that. So exploring the unknown could be a good thing." She shrugged. "Then again, you can always come back home once you've explored enough, or if you miss them." Zuri smiled wistfully. "I didn't have that, so my only option was to move forward."

Mivu blushed slightly. "No, I don't have a mate. Yet." And he wasn't quite sure if he wanted one yet, or even if he was meant to find one here. He was definitely interested in girls, of course, but wasn't sure if now was the right...time, or place.
She made good points, for what a spacey lioness she was. It made sense. He could easily decide to go and even explore a section at a time, perhaps even in spontaneous intervals, but as long as he came back to his family in time. That way, they couldn't complain for he would be around, but he'd still have the rush of waking up one morning and just setting off without knowing exactly where he was going. That was the thrill.
"I see," he said thoughtfully. "Thank you for the advice, then, Zuri."

Zuri grinned at him. "Oh, you'll find one soon, I can guarantee that. Why, if I wasn't younger and single..." she trailed off, teasing him with a wink. She did really like his purple eyes. They were entrancing. The lucky girl who he loved enough to mate with would be very lucky indeed. She could already tell: he had a good soul.
"You're welcome!" she returned happily. "I'm glad I could help you out. But I think I must be going now; Lio will be wondering where I am when he wakes up. He's nocturnal, you see," she giggled. "He loves the stars so much that he'll spend the whole night looking at them, and sleep during the day. Like an owl. He's so silly. But I'm not totally nocturnal yet, either, so we spend what time we can together between our two sleeping cycles." Oh, listen to her. Babbling on like an idiot. She shook her head and grinned at Mivu.
"It was nice meeting you, Mivu. Good luck on your adventures!"

His blush darkened but he laughed anyway. "Thank you, I guess."
When he had first met Zuri, he had not been excited to think that she would be this happy character who would simply annoy him. Instead, it seemed like her good personality had rubbed off and he was now smiling and looking optimistically towards the future. Who knew?
"It was a pleasure, Zuri. Thank you; and good luck with your new family." He smiled and turned, and the two parted ways. A chance meeting that would leave a lasting impression on the younger, and he was thankful for it.
