"Ellandra, may I please have some fluffy treat soon? It has been some time since I had any!"

If only a butterfly could use the puppy-dog eyes expression; if so, Ellandra would have been doomed. Fortunately for the brunette - who was trying without success to come up with some notes for a story, just for old times' sake -, Rhian was incapable of the dreaded pout of doom, and thus could only sound imploring. Not that it did her any good, as her owner/mother simply looked up at where her Proto sat perched on a rafter, and shook her head."No, Rhian, you know very well that you had some cotton candy earlier today; you don't need any more right now."

Immediately, the proto's antennae and even wings drooped, and she nearly flipped upside-down on her perch, but she quickly righted herself and fluttered down to rest on Ellandra's waiting arm. Tilting her head and fluttering her wings gently, the little proto asked, "May I help Ellandra then? Ellandra needs to spend more time outside, not in stuffy ticketbooth and vardo. Rhian would like to go outside too!"

At that, Ellandra sighed and patted Rhian's head. "I know you do, Rhian, but it's just not safe." When Rhian didn't respond immediately, Ellandra's thoughts turned to Faolan and she looked over at the door, wondering if he would come home soon; he wasn't working the fortune-telling booth tonight, filling in for. . . someone or other at something or other, she'd forgotten. He should be coming home fairly soon. . .

Well, maybe he just stopped to grab some dinner. One of these days she'd need to drag him out to a nice restaurant, get some non-carnival food in him. The only issue would be having someone stay with Rhian, maybe Ziazan would agree to watch her for an evening? Well, maybe. Either way, something would probably work out. Somehow. As for this evening, Ellandra just wanted Faolan to get home soon so they both could relax and just spend time together. Hopefully nothing too shocking or surprising would happen to disrupt this quiet evening.

It was another day at Farstep.

Well, another night technically. And guess who was there? The one and only Trystan Bishop Chevalier. Dressed in a loose, hardly buttoned up white dress shirt and pin striped black pants, he looked more like a business man then anything. A business man who'd gone out and gotten drunk, fallen asleep with a porn star, and then woke up the next morning and realized he was fourty minutes late for work. Only the middle two buttons of his shirt were done, showing off a toned chest and six pack. Because of the crowd and the humidity, beads of sweat slid off toned hips, and Trystan shouldn't have been surprised by the wolf whistles the women were sending him. Didn't men do that to girls? Not the other way around? This was absolute hell.

Crux was in his book bag as usual, still silent and waiting patiently to meet with Zia again. The late night was filled with the life of party goers and people waiting to be dazzled. Trystan wondered half heartedly who was performing right now, and hoped to god it wasn't Faolan. He was in dire need of alcohol, and someone to drink with. After all, the week hadn't been the best it could have. Or so said the healing wound on Trystans exposed neck. The jagged cut was still dark red, like someone had just given it to him recently, but the pain was already nonexistent, and the image was the only thing that remained, speaking of a stupid act and almost getting his neck sliced open. Crux had told him constantly that he needed to be more careful and less reckless. Trystan had told him to stop talking. Looking up as he rounded a corner, Trystan blinked for a second, and then gawked, directing a finger in the person who'd shocked hims direction.
"Its you!"

The woman looked up, obviously not very amused by being disrupted from her smoke, before blinking and cocking her head at Trystan.
"You aren't lost again are you? Hun, I'm gonna make you start paying if thats the case. And my my, dont you look older... But still, are you sure you're twenty eight?" Trystan sighed in a displeased manner and pointed a finger at her. "Wrong again. And yes, remember? I never lie." He declared lazily, wagging the index digit with a teacher like manner. "I'm just coming to visit this time. I already know where I'm going. I just didn't expect to see you again." The woman snorted, brushing hair away from her shoulder and offering him a smoke, which he took and let light up courtesy of the big chested womans lighter. "Visiting Grady again?" She asked, blowing smoke in Trystans face. Waving a hand, the hit man shrugged. "Was it that obvious?" He retorted dryly. The woman - Gretel was it? - just laughed. "He should be in. I dont remember him being in any shows." She whistled and looked back at him. "However, if you've got a few minutes to spare, I could..." Trystan frowned at her. "We are strictly acquaintances - at best." He said, waving a finger once again at her. "And you already said you weren't going to sleep with me now that you knew just 'who I associated with.'" The woman barked a laugh and shrugged her exposed shoulders. "I was going to say I could show you around - but I suppose that can wait for another time yes? You and Grady going to get drunk tonight? Figures for men like you." Trystan cocked an eyebrow in a bit of a disbelieving manner. "Men like me?" He repeated dryly. Gretel smiled in a lazy manner. "You heartbreakers, you." She said, returning his finger waving with one of her own. "Now shoo, go find Grady and his lovely miss - I'm sure you'll all have a wonderful time." She smiled and waved her hand at him.

Turning to walk away, Trystan smiled back at her in his own dangerous fashion.
"I'm not as much of a heart breaker as I would hope for. I'll take you up sometime on giving me a tour." He said, waving a hand before disappearing around a corner. Trecking down familiar territory, Trystan stopped, hovering on the edge of the turn towards where the Vardos were located. Looking over as a vendor called out to kids and their mothers who were getting goodies for the upcoming show, Trystan cocked a brow. As the children left the stand, the man behind the vendor caught sight of the other and waved him over. Without much argument, Trystan was coaxed into buying something - hell, he hadn't eaten all day! - and left for Faolans vardo with a stick of cotton candy, nibbling at it idly. Crux thrummed from within the bag, wondering what Trystan had in his hand. The man, deciding it was rather tasty, tilted his neck to the side, only to groan as the familiar ache of his wound - which Gretel and the vendor had both failed to notice thankfully - stretched and started to bleed a bit. Frowning, Trystan thought to himself. Still healing...

Finally arriving at Faolans vardo, the man looked at the door for a moment, contemplating knocking. But before he could think to do such a thing, he was already moving, and with an almost thunderous bang, he'd kicked open the door to the vardo, listening to the resounding noise with a bit of a stray grin.
"Anybody home?" He called in a dry, lazy tone.

Now the question was... just who was home indeed.
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 12:00 am

Ellandra yelped when the door to the vardo slammed open, and a voice she didn't really recognize but that sounded familiar - from the ball, maybe? - called out. "H-hello?" she called in response, leaping off of the couch with Rhian still on her arm and edging to the bedroom. Not that it would be much refuge should this visitor mean harm, but it was better than just - just sitting here. The entire time, her heart raced rapidly in her chest and she watched the door, not really able to make out the person in the entrance.

Rhian flew up from her perch on her owner's arm and tried to soothe her for a moment. "Calm, calm, no harm is meant, just silly way of greeting, please, calm, stress is unhealthy." When Ellandra relaxed just enough, the butterfly proto left her owner's side and fluttered to the door to see this new person. "Hello? I am Rhian. I mentor, I help. You're scaring Ellandra; Don't stress Ellandra please, it's unhealthy for her and the babies - did you bring fluffy treat with you?"

Trystan cocked a brow as he heard a timid voice sound out. s**t, was Faolan not here? Oh well, let the fun begin. Cocking a brow as something came into view... something not human, Trystan backed up a step when he saw it was a giant butterfly. And it was... talking. Scowling a bit, Trystan listened to this thing, and looked down at the cotton candy in his hand when it asked if he had a fluffy treat. "Crux." he said instead, and the Proto lept fluidly from his bag and onto his shoulder, tall enough to inspect the bug without having to look towards the air. "Essentic..." He purred finally, and then glanced around, not sensing any other of his kind. "Zia is not here? How disappointing..." he said in a soft voice, feeling suddenly rather bored about this whole visit. No Ziazan, no fun. No Ziazan, not worth his time. The Proto fell silent, contemplating this as he looked back at the other Essentic. And then he felt a gradual suspicion enter his system. This creature... lived in Ziazans house? Was she closer to Ziazan then him? It shouldn't have bothered Crux, but something felt wrong with that statement. Trystan would have dryly classified him as being jealous, but Crux didn't sound his opinions to the other. "You live here, Essentic?" he asked finally, looking the other over.

Trystan, in the meantime, contemplated the bugs words and then held up the cotton candy.
"Bug, is this what you meant by fluffy treat? You can have it." He said dryly, holding it out for the... Essentic to eat if it liked. Looking around, he cocked a brow, feeling another presence in the room, and the soft breathes of another person. "Ellandra. Faolans wife?" He tilted his head, glancing at Rhian. "I'm Trystan, by the way. Rhian. Stress is a natural thing in life, you can limit it, but you cant make it go away completely. Dont lecture me on whats good and whats not good for her." Feeling a bit cocky, he twisted his shoulder and winced as the old wound stretched again. Looking in the general direction of Ellandra, he called out. "Why dont you come out and properly introduce yourself? I haven't had a chance to meet the lovely miss that Faolans been wed to yet."
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 12:27 am

Rhianhappily took the cotton candy and started to eat it, her antennae flicking about as she did so. "Yes, I live here; my purpose is to mentor, to help, Ellandra stresses too much - I keep her calm," the flutterbye said, flicking her antennae at Crux for a moment. "Do not worry, Zi is sibling only; no feelings like that for Zi-Zi! Sibling Zi will be back soon, as will Ellandra-husband-Faolan! Come in, be comfortable!"

It was a good thing Rhian was so comfortable, because Ellandra was. . . not. The brunette had been quite thoroughly scared out of her wits and was only just getting herself under control. "O-oh.... oh, yes, I - nice to meet you... um............ I'm sorry, it's just you startled me.......... Faolan will be back soon, And - thank you for giving your cotton candy to Rhian, I swear she's eating it constantly," she was rambling a bit and she knew it but she blinked up at this man, tentatively stepping a bit more toward the door, her heart still racing. When she saw him wince, however, her concern was ignited a bit. "Is - is something wrong?" She asked, her eyes darting to Trystan's shoulder, worry now overtaking the fear just a bit.

Trystan just glanced the girl over as she rambled, not really moving any closer. Instead, he took two steps forward, Crux hopping from his shoulders and onto the ground to stand at his full height, still examining the butterfly with morbid curiosity. Circling around Ellandra in slow, predatory circles, he thrummed a bit as if evaluating something. "A pleasure. Though I do have an odd habit of startling people. My apologies, its good that Faolan will be back soon - I've wondered whats been going through his mind this past week." He paused, coming in front of the girl and stroking his chin a bit. Then he brought it down and winced again, the white collar of his shirt stained red. "Its alright, I'm not a fan of candy myself. Your essentic seems quite childish anyways... She probably wouldn't have liked me keeping it from her." Shrugging a bit, he blinked at the others question and shook his head, black strands flying a bit. "Nothing to worry your pretty heart over." He said with a fanged grin then cocked his head to the side. "You're different from what I expected."

Crux thrummed a bit, examining the butterfly once more as it started to eat the cotton candy.
"Mentor." He repeated and nodded a bit, tilting his head to the side. "And what is it exactly that you mentor her on...?" When the other referred to Ziazan, Crux felt a soft, almost displeased thrum come from his throat, even though he was glad that that was all this Essentic was to the other. "Sibling... I see. Interesting." Following the other in, he wondered faintly just what kind of creature Rhian was. "How long have you... been here?"
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 1:13 am

Faolan and Ziazan walked back across the grounds, having gone out grocery shopping at a nearby open market for the day. Each lugged a cloth bag of foodstuffs, talking idly about carnival life and things they'd seen around the city. Faolan had a present for his dear wife tucked away in his bag and couldn't wait to show her.

He noted the door to his vardo was open, but didn't think much of it. The door was usually open, after all. Stepping in, he saw Trystan and laughed. After setting the bags on the table, he went over and hugged the other man. "Hey, brother."

Zia almost dropped its bags when it saw Crux, hurrying to set them on the table too before running over and practically tackling the combat Essentic. "Crux!"

Ellandra took several steps backwards when Faolan entered and hugged the man - Trystan, wasn't it? - still rather frightened and oddly feeling like she was in the way here. Rhian fluttered over to her and hugged her around the neck, hanging from her owner by her arms as her atennae swept over the brunette's forehead. "It's all right," the young Essentic said as her owner backed them both into the bedroom. "

You are not in the way but I am in the way because other Essentic dislikes me somewhat. Please be calm? We can wait in here until you feel safe and I am wanted again,"
the little proto offered, seeming vaguely sad but maintaining her soothing and guiding abilities regardless."You will calm and be able to visit soon; I will remain in here, I think."

Faolan looked over and saw Ellandra backing away into the bedroom. He moved to release Trystan and headed after his wife. "Assa, woman, don't run and hide now. Come on out and meet Trystan and Crux. Think of them as . . . a really strange part of our little family." He hugged Ellandra to him, voice softer once he had her in his arms. "It's alright, wife. Scared you some, did he? He's mostly harmless, really." He looked back at Trystan. "Ain't you, lad, eh?" His expression clearly said the answer to that question had best be "yes."

Scowling a bit as he was hugged from behind, he turned and returned it with one arm before ruffling Faolans hair, a slight grin on his face. "Hey there." He said in a dry tone, sticking out his tongue irritably at the other for being late. "Long time no see - its been awhile." He said, when in all truth it had only been about a week, week a half perhaps. "I've finally managed to smuggle a hello with your wife. Shes not at all what I expected." Trystan said with a slight grin, eyes turned up to look for the girl. Only to find she had disappeared. Cocking a brow, he wrestled himself out of Faolans embrace and glanced around, curious as to where the woman had gone. Following Faolan a bit, he crossed his arms, cocking a brow at the twos curious way of interaction. When Faolan asked him a question, Trystan feigned a grin and flapped both his hands, putting on a honey sweet smile that was completely uncharacteristic of him. "Harmless as a teddy bear." He said in a careless tone, almost looking the exact opposite of how he really was. However, he gave Faolan a dry look that said 'I kill people for a living and you're calling me harmless?'

Tackled, Crux let out a startled dog-like yelp, before clinging onto the other and righting both of them so they didn't fall over. Tentatively, it wrapped its arms around the other, happy for Zia's presence.
"Ziazan." He returned with a soft thrum. "It is good to see you again. I have missed you..." He paused cocking his head to the side. "I have met... Rhian. She is interesting. Your... sister?" He asked in a curious tone, wondering just when this had happened.
PostPosted: Sun May 31, 2009 6:44 pm

Ellandra shrunk against Faolan a bit, trusting her husband but unable to completely relax from her initial fright just yet. Things were decidedly out-of-routine for the moment - ad while it was nice to see how happy Ziazan was now that this other Essentic was here - she couldn't help but still be a little afraid of the man her husband considered a brother. It wasn't so much his intimidating appearance that rightened her, as his sudden entrance and his comment about her not being what he'd expected - well, the last annoyed her more than frightened her.

Just what had this man expected? Did she not measure up, somehow? She blinked up at Faolan, not really sure what to say to either her husband or Trystan. . . until she finally found herself speaking anyway. "Perhaps if the teddy bear was actually a grizzly," she said, her voice a bit wavery but steady, and she quirked a shaky smile even as she snuggled into Faolan's embrace.

Rhian, in th meantime, freed her arms from around Ellandra's neck and quietly retired to the bedroom rafters, sensing that she was no longer needed directly. . . and that, were she tto remain, she would cause tension to this Essentic who was so fond of her Sibling, and perhaps to "Zi" itself, and the last thing the butterfly wanted to do was cause strife in the family she cared for - even when she craved interaction. "I will stay in here," she said to herself, watching everyone else interact, her antennae twitching now and then.

Faolan moved, letting Elle keep her arms around his scrawny frame, but no longer hugging her. He left one arm draped about her shoulders, though, and grinned at Trystan. "Ay, what's that about not what you expected, eh? She's everything I told you and more. Beautiful, sexy, talented, brillant, but still stupid enough to love a guy like me." Clearly he was besotted with the woman at his side. Switching gears a bit, he sobered some to ask, "What brings you by this time, brother? The clowns kidnap you again? Or was you needin' another look at Gretel?"

Zia looked about on where its sister had gone, but figured she must be in the bedroom with the others. "Banning gave Mama a spark at the ball and the spark became Rhian. She's supposed to be helping Mama out with her anxieties. Mostly she spends time here with Da during the day. I don't know what her and Mama do at night when we're working the fortune telling booth. Enough on her, though." The alter smiled and leaned close to kiss Crux's muzzle, having missed the other terribly.

The half-demon arched an eyebrow, being able to see the two Essentics in the front room over Trystan's shoulder. "Okay, don't hit me again, Tryst.. but our kids are snoggin' on each other again."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 01, 2009 11:50 pm

At the girls next words, Trystans face faltered. Then he grinned a bit, and brought up his hands, as if trying to imitate bear paws - however, he only succeeded in making himself look more like a cat trying to wash its face then anything. "Rawr." He said in the dryest tone he could muster, a lazy grin on his face as he made himself into a bit of an idiot. Stroking his chin after he did that, Trystan thrummed a low note in the back of his throat and shook his head. "I dont think I'd make a good grizzly bear." He commented, pointing to Elle. "Sorry to disappoint."

Watching the two interact, he cocked a brow at just how intimate they seemed to be. Still, Elle was nowhere near what Trystan had been expecting, but he wasn't about to complain. Compared to assertive women he was around most of the time, this was like a breath of fresh air. Whether it was a nice one or not.... Well, he'd yet to decide that really. Cocking a brow at the man as he responded to him, Trystan shrugged and looked a bit cat like in the way his grin slid across his face.
"Just... everything." He said straight out with a shrug. "Not that I'm complaining. She looks nice enough. Just...." Trystan sized her up and down with his eyes and raised his hands, giving a physical representation of their size difference. "Short."

When the other questioned him about why he had come, Trystan rubbed the back of his head.
"Well, no clowns kidnapped me this time, thankfully. It was actually...." Not wanting to say the name out loud, Trystan pointed his thumb over his shoulder at Crux. "We ended up driving past and it just sort of... happened." The dry commentary was added by a natural frown in Faolans direction. "I also saw Gretel. She is associating me with you. She keeps calling me a heartbreaker, yet for some godforsaken reason, she wants to show me around Farstep sometime." Trystan smiled listlessly. "I agreed for a later date - shes actually not as bad as I thought.... hopefully."

Meanwhile, Crux enjoyed the presence of the other, hardly noticing that his little sister had disappeared.
"A new spark from Banning...? Ah, is that so. She is.... interesting." Crux said in a soft thrum, amused with Zias abrupt end to talking about her. He wondered what Zia thought of his sister, but dared not to ask as the oher leaned in and placed a kiss on his muzzle. It was too precious a moment to ignore, and one he didn't encounter as often he would like. Returning it with a soft nuzzle, he tilted his head to the side, scanner shimmering softly.

Trystan cocked a brow at Faolan, wondering what he was looking at before turning his head and dropping his jaw at the sight.
"I really, really should hit you for inadvertently taught your Essentic that." The man scowled a bit. "Lets just hope the butterfly doesn't learn how to do it too."

Ellandra frowned and glared up at Trystan, one of the few times she was actually annoyed. "I'm not short," she said plaintively. "I'm.... petite. Not short, thank you," she said, wrinkling her nose and standing on tiptoe to try to appear taller - yes, it was a bit juvenile, but he had called her short even though she was she wasn't about to just let this man call her that! Even as she did this, however, she still clung to Faolan like a lifeline - or a shield between her and this Trystan man.

Rhian clung to a rafter, nearly turning upside down as she watched the conersations - and kissing - going on in her home. The little butterfly was far from content at the moment, but she was making a strong effort not to complain or be a bother, and she wasn't going to throw that away now just because there were interesting things to participate in. "Hmm," she murmured to herself. "Sibling-Zi and new Essentic are actling like Ellandra and Ellandra-husband, yet this is considered negative behavior? Should be positive, yes, should be considered positive!" Nodding to herself as she made up her mind about something, she fluttered down in front of Trystan. "Expression affection is positive and healthy; something that should be encouraged, not considered negative and discouraged!"
