I need help from knowlageable dog lovers! My dog has GYNORMUS scabs on her back legs. We have tried everything from hot sause to bandages with a decusting flavor. The vet said it was allergies and even gave her a shot for allergies but it didn't work. Help! gonk

You can buy an elizabethan collar (cone) at most pet stores.

It should physically keep her from licking the spots. Allergies are probably the underlying cause of the licking, but often it becomes a habit or kind of a compulsion.

You might also consider giving her some type of puzzle or food toy to play with when you are gone. Often these dogs with acral lick granulomas are bored while owners are gone and they lick for something to do.

FYI, most dogs like the taste of hot sauce, so it is not an effective deterrent.
