In my creative writing class, we had a project called the 21 Club. For the project, we were to write 21 paragraphs, each paragraph on a different "sense." Here are some of my favorites:

"Sense of Detachment/Exclusion"

He wakes up to the cadence of his crudely beeping alarm. He rises from bed, groaning like a dying cow. He zombie-walks to his closet, grabs a shirt and a pair of pants fiercely, hangers falling to the floor. He ignores the mess and nonchalantly puts on his clothes. He walks down the stairs and out the front door without food or a goodbye. On his way to school, he stares at the cement beneath his feet, watching weeds growing through cracks pass by his untied shoes. In school, faces are blurred through tunnels of classrooms. He enters an undecorated door with a tiny window and slides into a chair. He stares at his thumbs, waiting for instructions. When he hears the drone of page numbers being repeated aloud, he reaches under his chair to grab an enormous textbook, slams it on his desk, and opens it to the specified page. He starts to read. But he’s really just running his eyes across pieces of paper with words and pictures on them. The bell rings, he closes the book, drops it on the ground, and pushes it underneath his seat with his feet. He stands up, walks out of the room, through the halls, and out the school doors. He travels home, scuffling his wayworn shoes on the sidewalk. He opens the door to his house, closes it behind him, walks up the stairs, and into his room. He stumbles as he pulls his shoes off, then collapses on his bed. He falls asleep, and tomorrow he’ll wake up to the cadence of his crudely beeping alarm and do it all again.

"Sense of Mood" or "Sense of Character" --Could go either way

The girl sat in the middle of the wooden park bench with wrought-iron armrests which twisted into legs. Her glowing green eyes glared at the scene in front of her through her wiry, black hair as she slouched. Her eyes shifted back and forth, surveying the child running into his father’s arms, screeching gleefully. A deep black hole formed in the girl’s stomach, swallowing her soul. She looked down at her hands resting in her lap, her fingers interwoven, and as she sighed deeply, a single tear streamed down her pale cheek and fell onto her dry, cracked skin.

"Sense of Sound"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The low, drawn-out drone of the chime echoes, rebounding against the hollow buildings that line the barren boulevard. The toll travels through the empty streets until it finds a dead end and is soaked in by the crimson brick walls which act like ears, eager to absorb any sound to break the inhuman silence. Although nobody was alive to hear this morbidity, the structures surrounding the square from which this bell rang shook with fear. For this bell shall forever ring throughout the world, not caring if not even God is there to hear it. This bell is forsaken.

Wow! Once again, excellent details!! And they all wrap up nicely, without leaving the reader leaning over the edge, waiting for more. ;] Keep up the good work! You should post the rest of these.
