ok so here goes, would a glass armonica, be considered an instrument from the steampunk era. I mean, Ben Franklin did invent it during the industrial revolution, and it was kinda steampunkish at heart... xd I'm just trying to find a reason to scrape several hundred dollars together and get one i think haha

Dude, if you know how to play one of those suckers, do it.
Who cares if it's steampunk at that point.

It's more than unique enough to make it steampunk. Besides, that would be so coool.

That is pretty expensive. But also understandable, if they are the only company that makes them. If you can get it from out of the country for cheaper maybe.

Or just work very hard for a very long time. Start saving now!

Probably for the best. The armonica has an unusual psychological effect on those who listen to it. Something about the sound increases the production of chemicals in the brain associated with depression. Or...so I have been told. Could be complete bunk.

It was said that the armonica was too close to heavenly music, and thus demonic. Most were destroyed. Modern ones, to my understanding, aren't as good as the originals because the glass bowls then were made with lead, which it is now known to be unsafe to use.

I think its cheaper and a whole lot easier just to make one yourself. I did and although it sounded about as heavenly as a nail scraped on glass it was an armonica.

I've read a lot of armonica players got lead poisoning from the instrument, which might be why most of them lost their minds.

Saint Voltage

Seems a more reasonable explanation for the accounts, I suppose. Although it doesn't really address the claims of having driven mere listeners to madness. In any case, I suppose the "curse of the armonica" is just one of those urban legends that can't be put to rest.
