Private RP between Eli Galvia & Uzi -plus Kell - (ladyumbra) and Lee Katan & Lauss (Epiczilla)
Location: Galvao farm Time: early afternoon Weather: sunny and warm with a slight breeze.
Eli gave a soft sigh as he paced the length of his front porch. With his parents away the man had taken the opportunity to call up Lee Katan. He'd met the girl, another Essentic owner at Banning's ball and both she and Lauss had shown some interest in Kell. Despite the awkward age gap between them he'd invited the pair over to see Sorcha's newest litter of pups, figuring Lee might like one, Lauss might find them interesting and having another proto over might keep get Uzi to take it's head out of the tracking manual he'd given it for a few minutes.
Uzi at the moment did indeed have it's muzzle down in the book, both sides of which were held down with it's paws. There was so much to learn, so many animals to identify, learn the tracks and behavioral patterns of. To be a proper and efficient hunter Uzi had deemed reading necessary for now.
Kell was sound asleep napping under the porch.

Lee tugged at the ends of her hair with impatience seeping from her every pour. This was the longest drive she'd ever taken. This was the first drive Lauss had ever taken. He stared at moving objects as they flew past the window, half of them unidentifiable streaks that he loved to try to decipher. In fact, he'd made it into a little game. A flash of green. "That was a bush." A flash of brown. "That was a car." He turned around and faced his owner. "Miss Lee, you should try playing this. Test your knowledge!" He waited for another object to fly past. "There! Did you see it? Guess what that one was!" Lee ignored him, as the car started to slow to a stop. They were there? She let out a quick sigh of relief. Well, this should be interesting. The only puppies she'd seen before this were the pampered, lap dog types that her friends had. Kell was the first non-combat dog his size she'd ever seen, too.
The driver got out and opened Lee's door for her. She stretched her legs after climbing out, paying little attention to her unfamiliar surroundings as she spotted the reason she'd come. The driver returned to his seat in the car, and Lauss swerved out and instantly spotted the sleepy Kell. "Miss Lee, a dog!" He'd recognized him from the ball, and was about to dart over to him when Lee held him back by his tail. "Stop it. We're guests. Be on your best behavior." She wagged a finger while she prepared him the best she could, while taking into account the likelihood that he would mess up. Oh, he would ruin this somehow. She knew it.
Lee heading toward Eli, waving a bit to seem friendly. Lauss followed behind, trying his very best to "be a good boy". "So I may not ask Mister Eli for shooting lessons?" he couldn't help but whisper as they approached the porch. "Not a chance." She stepped onto the porch, stopping as her eye was caught by a lion-like essentic reading a manual. "Y-you have an essentic?!" She was surprised, to say the least. She should have known, though; why else would he have bothered to go to that ball?

The hound stirred at the approach of the car and growled lightly at the sight of Lauss, Kell did not have fond Memories of the Essentic. However he was not disturbed enough to move from the cool shade and shelter being under the porch provided. The dog would tolerate the stranger's presence as long as it behaved.
Eli was amused to see Lee arriving by car, so few could afford them or did indeed use them these days. The old farmhouse wasn't likely much in comparison to the place where the girl lived but it was home and he was proud of it. Besides they were here to talk dogs and Essentics, not compare living standards, or so he hoped.
The auburn haired man waves back with a tanned calloused hand not entirely surprised by the shock in Lee's voice upon spotting Uzi. He nodded and smiled " Lee, Lauss this is Uzi, it's combat type." Eli sincerely hoped Uzi wouldn't feel that meant it'd need to fight with the other proto.
Uzi was torn between continuing to read and paying attention to the other Essentic that was in it's general vicinity. With a soft rumbling noise it raised it's partially masked feline like head and fixed unblinking, slightly glowing yellow eyes on the pair of strangers. " I am Uzi" it confirmed.

"O-oh. Hi, Uzi... I'm Lee, and this is--" "I am Lauss." Yeah, thanks... Lee had only met one other combat type, and... well, Uzi wasn't quite as horrifying, but... she looked like she could break a few bones. Or all of them. Then again, the other left her alone, why wouldn't this one? Lee let it continue on with its studies; she knew how much Lauss loved to read and didn't want to keep Uzi from doing the same. Lauss, on the other hand, had a different agenda. At the sight of the book, he glided over to the other proto and glanced at the pages. "What are you reading?" He left out a "Miss Uzi" or "Mister Uzi", as he had no idea which would be appropriate.
Lee turned back to Eli. "Uzi's to help with hunting?" She looked back, sighing as she saw Lauss was now at the essentic's side. Please don't get yourself killed... She turned back to Eli and fidgeted with her shirt. "So... puppies?" The girl shrugged with a small smile on her face.

Uzi paid little attention to Lee and Lauss, already lowering it's head back towards the manual when the other essentic inquired what it was doing." It's a hunting and tracking manual, I am memorizing all data on the animals currently available for hunting in this area." So many little nuances, so many slight body and paw shape differences to record and keep straight. Not an insurmountable task for an essentic and one Uzi was content to take on, It would be the ultimate hunting partner. " Your purpose?"
The redhead pointed off towards a small long building just a little in the distance. " Kennels and runs are over there, and yes Uzi's meant to be a hunter." Had technically already been one.. sort of but somehow Eli didn't think that was a story he should retell right now. He stepped off the porch and headed for the kennels " Don't worry about those two" he motion towards the essentics , they'll probably read the whole time" at least he hoped so.

Lauss nudged in closer to get a better look at the manual. "I am Miss Lee's tutor. I could tutor you on your studies as well. Would you like me to quiz you?" He looked up at the lion-like essentic; if he had a mouth, he would surely be smiling.
At the hunter comment, Lee shuttered. She hoped Lauss wouldn't make himself look like prey while they were gone. The thought of puppies pushed the essentics out of her mind, though. She was, like all girls her age, very susceptible to the mind-boggling cuteness puppies possessed. It had taken only a few minutes of pleading to get her father to agree to such a thing. After all, neither he nor she would have to actually take care of it. That was what the help was for. Lee couldn't help but contain her excitement. "What do they look like? I mean, how small are they?"

Uzi considered this before giving a low rumble of consent, yellow pupil less eyes flashing briefly for a second. " You may quiz me" Eli had done so earlier with the mountain lion material and the concept was not foreign to the armored essentic although it highly doubted it would fail at a question. It's lion like tail flicked back and forth behind it like a contented cat's Uzi was highly assured of success.
" Mm about the size of a small house cat or so," Eli answered as they walked towards the kennels " They've already perfected the I'm cute please love me eyes" he warned. Black and tans had a distinctive sad almost forlorn look to their brown eyes that made it look like they were always begging for something.
Eli lead lee into the kennel and large cage where Sorcha and the puppies were, the large female clearly attempting to sleep while eight puppies milled about demanding attention.

"A pleasure." He was more than happy to practice his purpose, even if it wasn't for Lee. He pulled the manual from under Uzi's paws and held it up to get a quick look at it. Flipping through the pages, he picked one at random and covered the text so that all that was visible was the image of a rabbit footprint. "Which animal does this belong to?" Ah, this was indeed his passion. Not even baking or Victorian books could top quizzes.
Every word out of Eli's mouth caused Lee's eagerness to grow. She picked up her pace, wanting to see these tiny little things for herself. One sight of the little black and tan babies and Lee was speechless. A hand went up to her mouth as a small "Awwwww," escaped. "Which one is mine?" She looked up at Eli, her eyes bright. To be honest, she wanted them all. She couldn't imagine anything better than a house littered with little dogs running in and out of her room and up and down stairs.

Uzi stared intently at the picture, mind whirring as it searched it's memory. " Rabbit" the masked essentic answered. " A hind foot" Had it been capable of it Uzi might have frowned, too many seconds to determine front or hind foot, more study was needed. It was a hunter and would learn this tracking business perfectly as was required. Some skills it had already shown and Eli complimented it's form as good for hunting. Still Uzi was driven to perform better.
The green eyed man pointed to one pup wearing a small blue collar. " That one." He didn't know Lee overly well but what he'd gathered from her and Lauss' personalities had helped him choose from the puppies which he knew rather well. He might spent a lot of time out hunting but Eli still kept up with the dogs his parent's bred and made time to socialize with them, especially with Kell having been getting on in his years.
" He's a male with rather low prey drive and is quieter than the others." It didn't mean the dog wouldn't follow his nose everywhere or bark on occasion but of the puppies in this litter he had the most mellow temperament and was best suited as pet material.

Lauss wasn't used to quizzing those that actually knew the answer to the questions, and was a bit taken aback at Uzi's quick and accurate response. "Correct," he chirped, sounding a bit startled. He continued on with the quizzing, going on to different types of rodents, covering text and showing Uzi pictures. This seemed to work fine for now; maybe factual testing would be nice once Lauss found Uzi could recognize the footprints perfectly. It was nice, having someone want to be quizzed.
Lee's hands balled into tiny fists and pressed against her cheeks when she got sight of her puppy. That's right. That one was hers. It was very unusual for Lee to be "giddy", but her teenage girl instincts couldn't keep her composure in such a situation. "H-he sounds perfect." She didn't want to be overly forward, but... there really was no stopping her. "C-can I hold him?" she asked without taking her eye off of the little guy.

Uzi found the other essentic to be highly useful to have around and wondered if he could be persuaded to visit often. The hunter visibly relaxed eventually taking on an almost truly catlike appearance in the way it lounged on the pro tail flick lazily back and forth. If this was company it wasn't half bad.
Eli nodded " Go ahead, Sorcha's used to people touching the pups and so are they." He didn't mention that while the puppies were too small to drool yet chances were Lee was going to get licked to death, it was usually a given when one handed puppies to begin with.
Sorcha raised her head at the mention of her name but showed no particular interest in moving at this point in time.

Lauss enjoyed this Uzi. They were nearing the end of the manual, and with only a few pages to go, Lauss was overjoyed. Not that it was almost over, of course not, but that he'd actually gotten through a quiz session without someone walking out or throwing something at him. Not to mention, he'd been learning along the way, and could recognize a few footprints -- just the most obvious ones, though -- from the book. On the last page, he looked back over to Uzi, trying his hardest to hold back a question. It was useless. "Could you teach me to hunt?"
Holding back a squeal, Lee lifted the little dog into her arms and just looked at it. She wasn't sure how to hold a puppy, as this was her first pet ever, and decided cradling it like a baby would work fine. It wiggled in her arms a bit at the change in position, and Lee took as a sign that it wasn't the proper way to hold a puppy. She smiled nervously at Eli, and looked back down at the puppy in her hands. She suddenly felt like she was holding the most fragile thing in the world, and put an arm under him to make sure he didn't slip, softly hugging him to further protect his little body from a fall. She looked up at Eli once more with a smile, this time a bit more confident than the last. "What should I name hi-- Pleh..." The puppy licked her mouth in mid sentence, an adorable but arguably disgusting first interaction with the little fellow. She laughed a little, slightly embarrassed, before kissing him on the head.

Uzi nodded slowly " You're not built for it.. but you have hands which helps." Uzi had some inborn knowledge of the hunt, and some things it remember from connection with Eli but most of what Uzi knew pertained to how to use it's proto form. However the yellow maned essentic looked nothing like Lauss, still the other did have hands which were an advantage. " You would have to learn weapons."
The auburn haired man just laughed at Lee and the puppy, truly they were connecting well and it hadn't taken Lee long to figure out hold to better hold the young thing. " Name him whatever you want, there's no traditions here and no right or wrong names" He said answering the question the blue eyed girl had never really finished.

Lauss looked down at his hands, thankful for the first time that he'd been built with them. He didn't have a strong desire to hunt, necessarily, but he desperately wanted to learn to hunt. "Weapons? Like a gun?" Lauss' interest was further perked, as he'd wanted to hold one since the minute he'd watched Trystan wave one around.
She squeezed the puppy's little body a bit while thinking of a name. She had to keep herself from calling him "Brownie" or some other ridiculously cutesy name. Wouldn't want to sound too "young" in front of Eli. Looking down at the black and brown fur in her arms, an idea popped into her head. "Would Rosco be okay?" She blushed, hoping it wasn't too silly a name. It sounded like a dog's name, right? She really wouldn't know. The only dogs she'd ever met were named "Pixie" and "Fluffy", so she was a little inexperienced in this department.

Uzi nodded, mane swaying as the essentic did so " Yes a gun would be good for you." Although some of the Guns Uzi had seem were bigger than Lauss himself." you would learn fast and we would make an interesting team." Though the proto was aware of what it was the fully history of it;s kind was not available to it. Had essentics worked in concert before in such capacity?
" Rosco is fine and it shouldn't take too long for him to respond to it."Eli replied with a smile. " Any other questions?" As he spoke the auburn haired man crouched down so he could pet some of the puppies thinking that if it hadn't been for Uzi he might have taken one himself becuase Kell only had maybe a years worth of hunts left in him.
