Salamandastron. The mountain fortress on the western shores. Its many twisting hallways and flights of stairs have always been gallantly defended by the Badger Lords and fighting hares native to the mountain. No longer.
Vicenté the Fox from the Far South has conquered Salamandastron and killed all who could not escape.
Those who were lucky enough to survive are gathering. The Bark Crew of Lord Brocktree's Era has been revived. Led by two surviving officers from the mountain fortress, the Bark Crew has been harassing Vicenté's foraging parties for months. He is staring to run low on food. Now, foraging parties have armed escorts, and they are getting a slow trickle of supplies. They're just enough to build strength for war.
The mountain is slowly gaining power, preparing to wage full scale war against the refugees. They're first offensive is an ambush of the Bark Crew that Vicenté believes will end in the capture of the officers Oberon and Titania who are the unofficial leaders of the guerrilla force.

(Start out with a villain of my own.)
A weary traveler walked the path, not knowing which direction to travel. He only knew to keep moving. the scarred rat wiped sweat from his forehead as he stopped to have a look at where to go next.

The Bark Crew had been stalking a new foraging party near a grove of pine trees south of Salamandastron. Oberon dropped from a nearby tree, his massive bow drawn its full length. He had his tail pressed flat against the ground. Just another stupid group of vermin out for a leisurely afternoon forage. Full packs too, good. I would suggest you drop those packs. He was addressing the ferret in the officer's uniform. And if I don't? Oberon threw his tail into the air like a banner, and a motley assortment of long range weaponry flew through the air. Drop! Every member of the foraging party flung themselves on the ground as the missiles struck the trees behind them. Then that becomes you. Every pack thudded to the ground. Titania walked forward, standing behind Oberon. Her rapier was at her side and her sabre was resting on her shoulder. I could make it a lot worse than that for you blighters. Now now Titania. We need this group to survive. But Obi! I want some fun. Next party my dear, I promise. Titania smiled, Thank you Mr. Kronus Sah! Oberon returned facing the party leader when he noticed rustling in nearby bushes. Instinctively, Oberon put arrow into the bush and heard a groan. He let two more arrows loose before the main attack force was able to enter the glade. Titania! Marshall the Crew! We are going to need some sort of cover from that large an attack force. Multiple hares had fallen to spears and arrows before the Bark Crew beat a hasty retreat towards the pine grove they were using as a Command Post for the mission. Assaulted from three sides, they were in serious trouble.

Daniel noticed a ruckus in the distance and decided to go off and do some investigating. Although he was a rat, he appeared the size of a mouse.

Oberon had shouldered his bow and was using his loaded sling to lay low vermin of all kind. He spun around, swinging his sling at head level. He lifted his sling at the last moment when he noticed it was a small rat, or mouse, he wasn't quite sure. Careful there young 'un. What is a small beast like you doing on a battlefield? Shouldn't matter Sah! As long as he could help us. Wait! Is he a mouse? He looks like a rat! Titania quickly skewered a weasel with her rapier that was about to stab Daniel. I don't care what manner of beast he is Titania! Will you help us young 'un?

"Wh-what 'idjou call me?" he growled in a low tone. The greatest thing one good do to get on his bad side was call him a mouse and a young one at that. He clenched his fist and spat at the ground. "'elp YOU!? Woy should oi do that?" The many scars all over his body coupled with dirty fur showed the troubles he'd been through.

Oberon's face hardened, he hefted his sling You want me to crack you one over the head? Then learn some respect. If you won't help us, then get out of here before you end up spitted on the end of a lance. It would serve you right! Bally ungrateful rat! Leaving it at that Oberon left Daniel to his fate.

"I ought ta be the one teachin' 'em respect." Daniel said to himself as they walked away. He spat at the ground once more before heading off to wherever he was going.

Oberon took one glance back at Daniel, then remembered there were beasts trying to kill him. Bally nasty habit, spittin'. Titania was coolly parrying and thrusting, staying alive was their main concern. Oberon had picked up the lance of a fallen hare, and went at the enemy like a hurricane. Spinning slashing, stabbing and killing all over. The ferocious defence put up by the Bark Crew caused Vicenté's battalion to loose heart in the fight. They fled in every direction, with Oberon's arrows hastening their flight.

Daniel looked back at the fight with a narrowed eye, before turning around to flip his hood up and scurry away. Truth was, a whole forest wanted him dead for what he had done.

We need to return to the HQ, I'll find out where we are. Shooting up an ash like no one but a squirrel could, Oberon was back down in an instant. We need to head North-east for about three miles and we'll be there. Then lets move out!

Up a ways, a weary traveler lay to the side of there path. Battle-scarred armor covered him lightly with his sword and shield laid out beside him. His furry head rested upon his pouch which held his many arrows that went to his double arched bow. Exhaustion burden the mouse.

The Bark Crew had traveled 2 out of the three miles Oberon had predicted when Titania noticed somebeast lying on the side of the road. Crew! Cover! In a moment there was nobeast left on the road except Oberon and Titania. Cautiously approaching the motionless figure in the gutter, Titania closed the distance quickly, Its a mouse, somebeast get some water. Oberon give me your canteen, quick! Here. She gently shook the mouse, seeing if he would wake up, Are you alright sah? Are you there?

The sudden shake startled him and his eyes opened up with great force. He jumped back, pulling a dagger from his back before realizing they weren't here to fight him. "What? oh uh, I'm fine." he coughed.

Titania leaped back as well and Oberon already had an arrow to his bowstring. Titania immediately waived him down. She now spoke to the newcomer, Don't do that sah, we are a bit jumpy at the moment. State your business, mouse.
