You are now in the playroom. In the center of the East wall there is another set of large double doors that lead into the Nursery. A small bridge slopes over a ball pit from here with small rope 'railing' along each side. The ball pit itself is not full of the hard plastic balls typical ball pits are filled with either. This one is filled with balls of the same size that are soft and squishy, much like stress balls. These have also been enchanted to that they are always clean so the children can not mark them nor get sick from having them in their mouths, unbreakable so they can not be ripped, scratched, or punctured, and have a summoning spell on them so that if they were to be removed from the ball pit they would teleport right back in as soon as they are put down. To the west is a large window that shows off the front yard. Here there is a large cushioned sill where the children often sit to hear a story. On either side of this are closets with many balls and toys for the children to play with. On the North wall there are another set of double doors leading outside to the North Yard with windows to either side of it. In the center of the room there is a large pillar with a door set into the East side. Inside there is a ramp that curls around inside the pillar, up to the second level of the playroom. This at the moment is blocked off at the top by a magical barrier since it is still under construction.

It had been awhile since Catherine had been in the playroom, the past month was a flurry of moving, 'quests', tantrums, and timeouts... and yet through all this chaos she was able to find a piece of mind. An ability that was somewhat of a secret she kept, for herself.
The doors to the nursery open as a few children piled out a few went elsewhere and the older children went outside to do what older children that want to bbe away from the "babies" do. Not many entered since it was mid day and most of the young ones were napping quietly. The soft spoken voice that was telling the tale of the Little Match Girl, had somehow formed a small audience. Many of the orphans at Salem's Home loved stories, especially the ones told by Duke, since he was already a rather animated man, his storytime was to say to the atleast very entertaining. Though the quiet telling was still a nice change, a few pixies had taken roost of the window sill, while a centaur boy had fallen asleep on the cushion, and not to far away a very eager cheetah griffon was torn in decsion on whether to stay to hear the end or run off to play with the children in the ball pit.
It was almost as though the soft voice had commanded quiet through out the play. Catherine had found it aweinspiring, if only she could do that.. hmm..
Right behind the short plump witch was the wrymling we have come to know as Garreth, now surname, Moonfire. He looked uncomfortable walking on covered feet, but the floor tended to be cold outside, but since they've made their way in, he wiggled them off and bounded his way towards the ball pit. Diving in such a way a tidal wave of enchanted balls flung themselves outside and onto the floor, the mere moment they touched the ground they flung themselves back in making all the children laugh.
Catherine laughed quietly, she didn't want to disturb Ava. In her arms was a baby with long black hair and black asian eyes. Her skin was like the new fallen snow and her lips as blue as the sky, dressed in a pale blue one peice jumper with feetsies. With in Nariko's arms was a sleeping... pixie? No, she didn't look like any of the fey in Salem's home. She was barely three inches tall and had short magenta hair, two curling antenna and a wasp butt. Dressed in a doll's jean overalls that tied at the back of the neck, a long sleeved shirt, striped stockings and little booties.

The faint click of the nursery doors opening was barely registered by the young woman, who continued to read softly to her son.
‘In a corner formed by two houses, of which one advanced more than the other, she seated herself down and cowered together. Her little feet she had drawn close up to her, but she grew colder and colder, and to go home she did not venture, for she had not sold any matches and could not bring a farthing of money: from her father she would certainly get blows, and at home it was cold too, for above her she had only the roof, through which the wind whistled, even though the largest cracks were stopped up with straw and rags.’
Initially too Ava remained unaware of her growing audience, an over-sight which would prove fortunate to her listeners. If it hadn’t been for the sound of a small body colliding with the balls that rested in the ball pit and the accompanying chorus of laughter, she may have remained entirely oblivious to the fact that anyone else had entered the room.
Her words faltered as she chanced a glance away from the book. Her already ashen skin seemed to lighten several shades as she became aware of the dozens of eyes that were watching her every move. Ava’s hands began to tremble, and she rapidly found herself becoming rather parched. A feeble cough passed her lips as she tried to fight against the anxiety that was rapidly overtaking her. They are just children she told herself over and over again. With another slight cough she raised the book to her eyes once more. Slowly she began to read once more, although this time her words seemed disjointed and flat.
‘Her little hands were almost numbed with cold. Oh! a match might afford her a world of comfort, if she only dared take a single one out of the bundle, draw it against the wall, and warm her fingers by it. She drew one out. "Rischt!" how it blazed, how it burnt! It was a warm, bright flame, like a candle, as she held her hands over it: it was a wonderful light. It seemed really to the little maiden as though she were sitting before a large iron stove, with burnished brass feet and a brass ornament at top. The fire burned with such blessed influence; it warmed so delightfully. The little girl had already stretched out her feet to warm them too; but--the small flame went out, the stove vanished: she had only the remains of the burnt-out match in her hand.’

Catherine took a deep breath seeing the anxiety taking over Ava. She sighed, making her way over towards the children, letting Nariko down by a set of large building blocks. She bent down towards the children, whispering quietly to them, a few of them giggled and ran off to play in the ball pit and then began to talking to the others. The plump witch smiled a bit contently, ushering the rest of the reluctant children away. "Go play hide and seek with the others." She smiled. "After that you guys can have snack time." A jump at the words, they rushed off to play. Letting out a breath of relief, Catherine gave a smile to Ava. Though the only ones she couldn't user to play where the ones that had fallen into a deep sleep.
"Why do I have to be seeker?" Garreth pouted, being the biggest in the group he frowned.
"Because the centaur kid is sleeping." said a saytr boy with a rather nasty disposition. "And besides it's only fair on your behalf tubby. You're too big to be a hider." He explained as though that was the best reason.
Aphrodite awoke at the sound of harsh tones, her large yellow eyes scanned the area, looking for the source. "Nari you play with blockies" She yawned a bit, lifting herself up in flight. The three inch tall toddler looked about and flew towards her mother.
Garreth bit back a sniffle, but the tears still shown in his eyes. He backed away looking around for some source of comfort.
"Whuddaya gonna do, huh? Go cry to mommy, well you can't! You're mommy isn't here... and she never was or is or anything!"
Catherine's eyes widened at the comment, biting back the instint to yell ... but before she could react Aphrodite zoomed and clocked the saytr in the temple. "Leave my brudder alone!"
"Ow!" He tried to swat at her as she buzzed around his head.
Pop!
"Hey!" The tiny wasp child flailed from inside a magical bubble that encased her in midflight.
"Hahahaa... uhoh." The saytr's large brown eyes widen as he saw Catherine's expression, it was though he could seen the flames of her wrath surround her form, though of course these weren't real flames, just a figment of an over active imagination.

Duke wandered in from the nursery wondering what the noise was. From the looks of it he was just outside watching a few of the older children. Taking off the scarf that was wrapped around his neck, unzipping his jacket, he quirked a brow at the siuation before him. The tall lanky man placed his large hands on his narrow hips. "What's going on? ... Doncha know there are younglings trying to sleep." The frown on his face was a sure sign of his displeasurement, he hoped it was a good idea to leave some of the teen's in charge.

She took the Saytr by the ear and directed him towards a corner of the room, as soon as she let go of him a sheild chamr was placed around him. "You are staying here for 1 hour!" Taking a deep breath she huffed looking over the over children who laughed at Garreth and quickly took their own corners. Calming herself she picked up the bubble that held her tiny child. Taking a seat by the window. "You are staying in here for an hour missy, just like Rhad."
".. but Mama.. he made Garreth cry! I protect baby brudder." She sniffled herself, triny got comprehend why she was being punished when the goat thing made her baby brother cry.
"You shouldn't hit people, it's wrong. Fighting doesn't get you anywhere." She settled the bubble on the cushion. ".. And you're in time out for hitting that boy, and he's in time out for making fun of Garreth.. and they are in time out for laughing with him.... Understand?"
A small nod and a sigh left the tiny toddler's lips.
Garreth came quickly bounding over burying his face in his adoptive mother's lap. "Mama..."
"Shhh.. it's ok sweetie, you don't have to play alright?"
A muffled response was heard, Catherine decifered that as an "ok".
Nariko though throughout all this chaos was lying on her back and chew on a block. Burbling and wiggling to her hearts content.

Slumping he realized the situation was under control. Shaking his head he sighed, climbing into the ball pit and sinking towards the bottom. All the children laughed and then suddenly got quiet as it seemed he wasn't comming out, then almost within second the erupted out of the ball bit in a monster like mock-growl. "GROWL! I AM A MONSTER.. and all that wonderful stuff... GROWL!"
All the children screamed as he came out of the ball pit, and then laughed as he didn't look like a monster as was obviously pretending, whomever wasn't in time out jumped into the ball bit with Duke.
"You guys wanna hear a story?"
A good majority of them nodded.
"... Once upon a time, in a land far beyond this place there was a castle that floated high in the sky. There lived a beautiful princess..."
"Why was she in the castle?" Asked a younger looking saytr, most likely Rhad's little sister.
"Well this evil witch locked her up tight, because she was the key to saving the kingdom. You see, around the time the princess was born an evil wizard attacked the country which the kingdom was in. King and Queen put together along with the entire army couldn't put a stop to the evil wizard..." Duke positioned himself comfortably inside the ball pit as all the kid's surrounded him. "... So the king and queen sough the help of an angel..."
"An angel!"
"Cool..."
"Woah."
Duke smiled. "The angel asked them 'What is wrong most noble of kings, why do you seek my lord's help?' Then king looked weary and he begged the angel to grant him a miracle to save his people and his family, for his queen was about to give birth to a baby..."
[ I told moony it was ok to use Rhad since this was started before I adopted him. ]

Kami wandered into the playroom quietly, green eyes casting a nervous glance about. The girl looked awfully unsure as she moved into the room, though seemed enchatned by it, for a moment, and smalled. The ball pits were a rather nice touch. It was too bad Iye probably wouldn't wake up to appreciate them.
She'd been torn about coming to socialise, but she had figured perhaps that Iye might enjoy it. He snoozed heavily in her arms, his vibrant red eyes shut in his content slumber. She had wrapped him up lightly in a blanket, not all for wamrth, mostly to protect herself from scratching, should he wake. But. he seemed pretty conked out. She watched the other caretakers quietly, and moved over to the story-time seats, petting Iye gently, and watching the other children.

Aphrodite sighed heavily inside the bubble. Boy was she bored already. "Mama I feel sorry can I get out now?"
"No." She said calmly, gently petting the top of Garreth's head.
"Phooey." the tiny toddler crossed her arms over her chest, being only three inches tall it was hard to argue with her mother.
Nariko on the other hand crawled her way over to Kami offering a block to her. "Bloooh." she giggled.
Garreth nuzzled quietly into his mother's lap, though he did keep his ear open. He really wanted to hear Duke's story.

"... And so the angel took pity upon the King and Queen. Telling them that a miracle will save their kingdom, but not to stop fighting or the kingdom will fall."
"Why was that?"
"Well the angel told them if they should stop fighting the miracle wouldn't come because his lord would think them lazy, relying on only the benifit and help of others."
"How come?"
Duke made a face, it was that of annoyance, but more of amusement. "Well think about it this way kids, if you were asked to help out how would you feel if everyone stopped working and you had to do all the work by yourself?"
"I'd feel bad."
"I'd be angry!"
"Well that's how the angel felt and warned them not to do so." He sunk a bit into the ball pit leaning agains the wall. " And so the king and Queen contiued their fight against the evil dark wizard. Many months had passed and no sign of the miracle. The king grew tired but no matter what he never stopped fighting... and then one day for some reason the fighting had stopped. King out in the battle feild was just outside of his kingdom, and what a sight he saw..."
"What did he see?" Squeeked a pixie who was nestled in Duke's hair.
" A pillar of light eruppting out of the castle!"
"Woaahh" echoed the children.

Kami chuckled softly, and took the offered block, setting it aside. "Yes, blue." she said, and giggled. There were so many cute children, several of which she noted didn't look to be from the adoption agency. They were cute nevertheless, and she watched curiously, softly stroking Iye's soft grey fur. He'd had a bath that morning, so it was even more nice to the touch than usual. Not that Iye seemed to notice or care...though he still didn't like baths too much.
