At last! A Rurouni Kenshin thread! I can't believe it took this long to come to be. I'm the biggest Kenshin fan so I'm suprised it took me this long to make it.

Anyway...

Synopsis


The year is 1878, the 10th year of the Meiji. Himura Kenshin is a wandering samurai, a ronin, or as described in the series, a rurouni. He is soon confronted by Kamiya Kaoru, a 17 year old girl in charge of a sword-training dojo. She accuses him of being the infamous assassin Hitokiri Battousai but soon dismisses him as the legendary warrior when he jumps onto some scaffolding which promptly collapses. She also notes his sword, which is a sakabatou, a reversed blade sword. "I can't kill anyone with this, that I can't," he claims.

Soon after, Kenshin reveals himself as Hitokiri Battousai after he defeats an imposter. He comes to live in Kaoru's dojo along with a young pick pocket, Myojin Yahiko and a street fighter, Sagara Sanosuke. Together they get into many adventures that involve ninjas, pirates, and a plot to take over Japan!

Key Characters:


Himura Kenshin-Formerly Hitokiri Battousai, the legendary assassin in the days before the Meiji Government was formed. Now a rurouni that carries a sakabtou, a reversed blade sword, which he uses to help those around him.

Kamiya Kaoru-Instructor at the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu dojo. Befriends Kenshin after he saves her from a former student posing as Hitokiri Battousai.

Myojin Yahiko-A young pickpocket that runs into Kenshin and changes his ways after seeing the wisdom of Kenshin's words. Begins training under Kaoru in the art of Kmiya Kasshin Ryu.

Sagara Sanosuke-Former member of the Sekiho-Tai, Sanosuek is now a street fighter who will take on anyone for the right price. He is hired to fight Kenshin, who readily defeats him. Sanosuke then sees the errors of his ways and becomes a friend and ally.

Takani Megumi-A doctor who works for a crimeboss making opium, Megumi is rescued by Kenshin and Sanosuke more than once. She later becomes a local doctor with Kaoru's family physician.

Tokyo Arc


A rurouni wanders through Tokyo, beginning the series. The Tokyo Arc is basically you're introduction arc. The main characters, Kenshin, Kaoru, Yahiko, and Sanosuke are met, and the more important of the side characters, Megumi and Aoshi, are also introduced. There always seems to be a villain after Kenshin, wanting to defeat him because he was the legendary Hitokiri Battousai. Prime examples are Zanza, Aoshi, Jin'e, and Raijuuta. Not only does Kenshin prove to his friends that he is an expert swordsman, but Yahiko proves that he is no ordinary ten-year old. There is a side story that involves Yahiko defeating a yakuza-like group in order to help his soon-to-be girlfriend Tsubame. Sanosuke's past is also discovered further through the side story with Katsuhiro and the revival of the Seikihou Tai.

Kyoto Arc


This story arc begins with one of Kenshin's former rivals, Saitou Hajime. Former leader of the 3rd squad of the Shinshen Gumi, Saitou has apparently appeared to confront Kenshin out of revenge, but Saitou has a different agenda. To revert Kenshin back to his bloodthirsty roots as Hitokiri Battousai so he can take on a new evil: Shishio Makoto.

After Kenshin became a Rurouni, Shihsio became Kenshin's replacement. Once the new Meiji government was formed, Shishio was killed in an attempt to cover up his assassinations, but Shisho survived, and now plots to take over the government. Kenshin journeys alone to Kyoto, to confront this new enemy...

Revenge Arc


(do note that this arc does not take place in the anime but in the manga)

With Shishio defeated, Kenshin can relax peacefully, but the past comes back to haunt him. Yukishiro Enishi returns to Japan to get revenge on the man that killed his sister. Assisting him are five other comrades who all want to see the deaths of the former hitokiri. Kenshin finally tells everyone his dark past in this arc just before the big fight takes place.

When the battle at the Kamiya Dojo comes to an end, it is Kenshin who loses. Kaoru has been killed and the rurouni falls into a deep state of depression. Aoshi and Misao travel from Kyoto to Tokyo with Tomoe's diary in possession. Tomoe's diary is their only hope of ending the madness of Enishi. During this time, Sanosuke travels to off to another town where he meets up with the family he left behind.

It is learned that Kaoru is not dead. The corpse of Kaoru was just a dummy created by Gein. Once it is proved true, Kenshin and the others, now all regrouped, head off to an island where Kaoru is being held prisoner. The final battle between Kenshin and Enishi takes place and this time, only one can be declared the victor. Guess who it is?

Concluding the series, everyone heads off their separate ways. Kenshin and Kaoru get married and have a child named Kenji, Yahiko becomes one of the most well-known swordsmen in Tokyo, using the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu and Kenshin's Sakabatou, Sanosuke becomes a wanderer, travelling the entire world, Megumi moves back to Aizu, and Saitou is repositioned to Hokkaido.

Samauri X was one of the first Animes I ever got into. It was a really great movie, although it was hard to follow at times.

I didn't really like the series all that much. Especially after he married that one chick.. -.-; What a stupid beast.
