Yep! smile It's the official language of Ireland and students need to learn it like Canadians need to learn French at school. (There are Irish Immersion and your regular Irish classes). About 10% of Ireland's population is fluent in the language and about 50% can speak some Irish.

I'm one of the 10%. Mainly because we never got tought it here in the North. I'm planning on going south or finding a place that teaches it,German,Dutch and other languages.

There is no use what so ever for anyone to learn dutch. xD Unless you like to talk to me. domokun And nearly everyone in the Netherlands speaks atleast 1 other language good enough to point you to the closest person speaking it better. (:

OMYGAWD,

I'm so proud of you all. ^___^

YOU GOT IT RIGHT!

The accents aren't there, but they're right. WOW. x3

Let's see what I remember...

Uh,

Iren gab tach.

I believe that's how it's spelled, pronounced:

Iren go bra.

To mean:

Ireland is beautiful.

I'm so happy you took the time to post this although I have to make a few corrections:

It's Gabh mo leithsceal with a h and dia duit is pronounced deeya guitch and the pronounciation of is mise is...is mise not pronounced with a h sound.

Hi smile And thanks! But, remember, there are four dialects and I'm only posting one. I believe I learned it in Northern. So, if you are from Munster or other parts of the country, it will be pronounced differently, but you are right about the typo smile

(BTW, I updated!)

I think after highschool Im going to go backpacking around southern Ireland, That would be so badass.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:08 pm

More irish in that post then what I've learned after living my whole highschool career here.

I have an exemption from irish as I used to live in the us, and all my friends say it's absolute hell to learn. But it's certainly very fun to shnow off on the interet. xD
