Ive happend to notice that more and more Brittish politiciansare warning the US that we are doing the same mistakes that they have tried. in they late 90's the elected the labour party wich began dabbleing in socialism which they are begining to see has ruined their economy. We are England 10 years ago we should start to apply the fact that History does in fact repeat and mabey we can save our economy.

I truly hate the idea of history repeats itself, it really doesn't because the situations are almost always different. Events may seem simular, but there are always major differences.

even though there are major differences the overlying concept is the same.

The lessons that history has tried to teach many times are

arrow if your country becomes to powerful, at some point you will overextend your sustainable limits and collapse inward

arrow most often the existence of credit is the problem with economies

arrow when you take more money away from people they have a habit of spending less

On that note I disagree that we should look to England on somethings, most notably finances, the highest tack bracket there I have read is going to be as much as 61% of income.

I am not saying look to them to copy them but learn from their mistakes instead of making them ourselves

nah all of thistory is pretty much differant people in differant places repeting very sillilar situations. here are but a few of infinate examples.
the mongols beat the nugarians by sneaking up on there encampment on a peninsula.

Cornwallis was beat by washington pining him down on a pinisula at york town.

santa anna was beat on a san jacintpo river penisula.

Lee beat McClellen on a penisula.

our army was beat on the battaan penisula.

another

no one ever has sucsesfully conquerd russia after many repeated attemps. and I know what youthink "what about the mongols?'' well they appeard to have but the reisitance to mongol rule eventualy led to the russians beating them and forcing them out of europe.

lessons to learn from historic repats: dont camp an army on a peninsula and dont fight russia in a land war during winter
