This is my first (and doomed to fail) attempt at roleplay in BA, so kick me gently. I don't mind this getting hauled six feet under and then lift a leg above the spot, but as an ice-prodder this ill work nicely.

I'll throw some stuff in this post, some elsewhere and so on.

The Setting

((As canonical as possible))

Antiga Prime

After the intervene from the Sons of Korhal the colony has revolted and defected from Confederacy's control. After the complete wipeout of Alpha Squadron main operations base the united rebel forces are tightening their grip over the colony and manufacturing tools of war against the Zerg and Terran Confederacy.
The reorganization of confederate forces has been distorted greatly by the crash-landing of Alpha Squadron's flagship Norad II and the commander Edmund Duke on board. Your location near the landing site was both a relief and a disaster, as your previous mission had been to stop the Zerg advancing to Confederate held territory. Now you have recieved a distress call from the commander and the base is mostly emptied for a futile attempt of rescuing the people of the battlecruiser.
Only core-defences have been left behind, and if some military backup doesn't arrive soon, you'll be overrun.

If we manage to survive the Sons of Korhal will take over the base and attempt their own rescue. But it is a long time to wait, and anything can happen.

The Zerg

The Zerg are a parasitic race spreading throughout the Koprulu Sector and causing massive destruction. With no intention of peaceful actions these simple predators under the control of Overmind's Cerebrates and Overlords are the main villain in the series. You may encounter these units during the RP:

Zergling: Smaller attack zerg, about the size of a large dog. Quantity over quality, these melee-fighters take the hits while more valuable strains of Zerg attack.

Hydralisk
: These spine-hurling fiends are the "squad-leaders" and capable of both melee and ranged attacks.

Mutalisk: Mutalisks are the basic flyers of the Zerg, easily taken out but dangerous in swarms.

Queen
: Ew. That is about all. These may install a parasite or infest a Terran Command Center. Take them out with Goliaths or Missile Turrets.

Overlord: Comparable to Terran NCOs, these flying behemoths control the ever rebellious and idiotic lower strains to effective fighting tactics. They are capable of transporting and detecting cloaked Wraiths, but are nice to take out with a well placed AA missile or two.

Allowed Characters

As you may know, the Terrans utilize a familiar set of projectile-based armament and fuel-run vehicles. Your character can be of these:

Marine: The cornerstone of every army and militia in Koprulu sector. Armed with a heavy assault rifle capable of firing to both land and air he/she will make a nice fighting machine if backed up with the safety of a perimeter bunker or vehicles. Each marine is armed with CMC-300 Combat Suit.

Firebat: Close Quarters Combat specialist with twin Perdition flamethrowers effective against the Zerg. They lack sense and range and are armored with CMC-660 Combat Suit (refer to Marine section for a link).

Medic: Healer and capable of flaring. They aren't armed with anything but a small sidearm and as such are heavily reliant on other infantrymen. They do quick work of any damage the marines may have sustained with biofoams and growth-enhancers. (Non-canon of the main campaign, but I think there would be these guys anyways)

Vulture-driver: They drive agile and fast Vulture-bikes, shoot grenades with APG-2 "Thumper" Grenade Launcher, set up Spider-mines and fire with lightweight SMGs. Their speed has made them excellent "plug-force" and couriers, altough lack of armor makes them vulnerable. Any aircraft is in superior status for the lack of AA-armament.

Wraith-pilot: Excellent small-aircraft pilots. Cocky and know their worth in bringing down larger ships. With Air-to-air missiles and burst lasers they are the ones you love to use. If their landing site is taken, however...

Goliath-driver: These technical men are always good friends with the infantry as they pack a punch. Two-legged beast of destruction with strong Hellfire missile packs and dual autocannons can't be left unnoticed, and that is a major issue when enemy decides to take out something. They need infantry support or melee Zerg will get them.

MSgt Silas Cutter
Goliath "Unholy"
Eastern defense line

The brevet commander of the defense line checked the twin autocannons' systems and status of his Hellfire missiles. His mask filtered the air and the HUD display provided information. The last Mutalisk scout had had it with a single missile, but at least the marines and firebat inside the bunker had startled a bit.
"This is Cutter, prepare for further Anti-Air operations within the area. Report sightings of ground Zerg immediately."
They hadn't heard of the rescue detachment for hours. Maybe they wouldn't. In the meantime Cutter would wander here and there and view the nice cliffs a kilometre further away.

"Go fish."

"Michaels, we're not playing-"

"Anyone get any threes?"

"Michaels!"

"Yeah, Stevens? You got any?"

"We're not playing Go Fish!"

"Will the two of you shut up!" First Sergeant James Wang growled at his two subordinates, Privates First Class Michaels and Stevens. "Get back up here and help me scan for any more Mutalisks." Since the last attack, he had been a bit jumpy. His trigger finger was itchy and his palms were sweaty and if his time in the service had taught him anything it was that that the aforementioned signs and bad feelings were a precursor to someone getting ******** up by the Zerg.

As the two privates rounded up their cards, Wang turned to his corporal. "Hernandez, you see anything?"

"No sir, looks clear from here," he replied, scanning the horizon with his binoculars.

"Well, keep scanning... I got a bad feeling about this..." the first sergeant muttered as he continued to look out towards the Eastern Defense Line.

MSgt Silas Cutter
Goliath "Unholy"
Eastern Defense line

His hood itched a bit. Nothing much, but he knew it would be a nuisance on the long run. Being in the Alpha Squadron seemed like a dream come true to Cutter, but now it bored immensely. He walked his Goliath northwards, past the barricades and bunkers set up. Some SCV:s were hastily repairing the armor of a fellow Goliath. "What happened, Simon?"
"The Mutalisk swung its wurms towards me. I managed to dodge most of them, but a few hit me and that bunker over there."
Dodging was a dangerous maneuver to attempt, as it consisted of ballet-like fast Goliath footwork. More often than not the walker attempting it would only nosedive to the ground. Simon, on the other hand, had been a driver for years.
"Will you be okay?" Cutter asked while walking past to check the northernmost defense lines. "Certainly. You just keep walking. I heard the vultures sent to investigate are returning shortly."
"Yeah, I heard that too. See ya", master sergeant said and closed the private channel.
The G-11 bunker was a bit sturdier than the rest, taking its location nearest the known Zerg infestation into account. A missile turret behind G-11 slowly turned its upper half and scanned for undetectable hostiles. Nothing. "G-11, have you seen anything?" he asked through the radio after stopping behind the bunker.

THe radio bussed to life. "G-11, have you seen anything?" someone on the other side asked. Motioning for his corporal to bring over the squad's radio to him, he answered.

"Negative, all clear."

Goliath "Unholy"
Eastern Defense line

"Good. Keep a watch for those mutalisks. I don't want surprises and our missile Turrets aren't exactly the best for taking them out. Call for Unholy and Revenant if you need air defences", Cutter answered and started to walk his vehicle towards south again. Days were long when his wing was somewhere and out of reach.

Lieutenant Arnold Forcs
7th marine platoon, Alpha Squadron
Retreating

"Fire at will!" Forcs yelled and ran forward with the rest. Vulture drivers provided cover with their grenade-launchers, but it certainly wasn't enough. The last of the retreating force were already being shredded by the ferocious zergling and hydralisks. "Anthony!" lieutenant yelled as his long-time friend fell victim to the grotesk claws.
In rage the leader of the remaining forces applied a Stim-Pack and used the benefit by fiercely shooting at the cursed Zerg. "Dieee!" he yelled before being succumbed by the living wake.
The rest, however, managed to escape the thin ravine and close to the base. There was only one problem left: the sudden appearance of sunken colonies and Zerg which had flanked the Alpha. Sergeant Heyes called for base in an desperate hope of getting some relief before they'd be completely destroyed. The two last Goliaths and several Vultures wouldn't hold for long, and the firebats were low on plasma.

"Understood, Unholy," Wang replied into the radio before handing it back to Hernandez. A half hour passed, boredom soon setting back in, intermingling with the tension until Hernandez spoke up.

"Uh, Sarge, I think you outta see this," the corporal said to him, passing him the binoculars.

Snatching the binocs, he held them up to his eyes and zoomed in towards the horizon. "I don't see anyth- Oh sweet mother of Jesus..." He zoomed in as much as the binocs would allow to confirm what he saw. A large swarm of Zerglings and Hydralisks were charging at what appeared to be a retreating Marine unit augmented with a few armored elements.

He grabbed the radio himself this time and radioed in. "Command, this is Bunker G-11, Eastern Defense Line. Reporting incoming friendly units being pursued by swarm of hostiles inbound on vector Echo-Zulu One Seven Niner Degrees North, Eight Three Degrees West. Friendlies are falling back and appear to be incurring heavy casualties."

As he radioed this in, he motioned at his men to saddle up. It's time to earn their boots.

Goliath "Unholy"

180 degrees later Cutter saw what the G-11 saw, given the higher elevation. He opened the frequency to Starport, available vehicles and Barracks: "This is Master Sergeant Cutter, ordering all available forces for a rescue!"
After several acknowledgement messages Unholy, Revenant and southern goliaths were walking towards the area, readying weapons systems for heavy combat. "Northern bunker section, reinforce us Vultures and Goliaths to your best capability, we need to get the men out of there!"
It was a risky call, but it would be a while before Wraiths could join the battle. Cutter opened the latch and chose some more output for legs. He needed speed if he was to save the men.

"We'll need you to lure them in a bit closer, Unholy," Wang replied into the radio as he and his men held their rifles at the ready through the firing port of their bunker. "They're approximately 50 meters out of our rifle's effective range."

He turned to his men. "Single-shot, boys, no automatic right now. Don't want to accidentally hit our boys."

MSgt Silas Cutter
Goliath "Unholy"
Assaulting

"Understood, G-11. Expect delivery shortly", Cutter answered and guided his Goliath wing to rescue. "Alpha remainders! Retreat to base, we'll provide cover!"
With that, his twin autocannons began to shred through zerglings. Revenant would keep guard against enemy air operations while the rest mauled and distracted the Zerg. Vultures added their lot to the havoc, opening a path for the retreaters. "Yeeee-haw!" Cutter yelled and landed Goliath's leg onto a hydralisk. "Goliaths and Vultures, slow retreat to effective bunker firing range after the marines are rescued!"

The crippled rescue-force bolted towards the opening, praising whatever deity they believed in for the help. General Duke couldn't be saved today, but maybe, just maybe...
PostPosted: Fri Jun 05, 2009 6:47 am

"Unholy, enemy is in range, I repeat, enemy is in range, G-11 opening fire on hostiles!" he roared over the radio before taking aim down his rifle scope and squeezing off round after round into the Zerglings as his bunker team followed suit, picking off whatever Zerglings and Hydraslisks the Goliaths weren't tearing to shreds with their autocannons.

Jokingly, Wang said over the comm system, "Hey, Unholy! Leave some for us!"

MSgt Silas Cutter
Goliath "Unholy"
Retreat

"Never! These are all mine!" Cutter laughed through the radio and delivered justice with the weaponry. Still, he moved a bit to open a sector for G-11 and G-10 to shoot at. The rescued bolted towards the bunker-line, eyes filled with hope of getting back to safety. The goliaths joined the vehicle wing, altough only with a supportive role taken their low ammo and missiles.
"Mutalisk flock approaching", Revenant announced and disengaged to meet the nasty-looking creatures. "Okay, boys and girls, I think Revenant and our missile turrets can take the birdies, so we just concentrate on the groundies! Keep pulling back, we are already inside the range of bunkers!"

Cutter's computer announced a Zergling clinging to his left leg. "Damn..."
He couldn't reach it with weaponry and sweeping with the arm was out of the question. He contacted G-11: "Hey, bunkerboys! Take out the Zergling on my leg fast! I don't wanna share my seat!"
