If you check your aquarium, you may see a message in a bottle - you can get a fair amount of gold for these.
I've had one every day, and you get 75g for posting a reply to someone's message, and about 200g reward if you get chosen as the best reply
You also get to send your own ones out from time to time, and then see all the responses it got (as well as choose the best response for you both to get a reward!)
so check your aquariums out people! blaugh

I check my aquarium every day for my overseer s**t razz
So far I've noticed that you seem to find a bottle every time you visit your aquarium.

I have been winning the 250g quite a few times now..
They just recently made it send you a PM from an NPC notifying you when you win
