Ellandra sighed as she rose to her feet from where she'd been sitting on the couch, resting for a bit. She needed to head over to Keagan's soon, though she wasn't particularly looking forward to it today; she'd had a hard time sleeping last night, and with the baby making her tired anyway, she just didn't feel up to going. She wasn't going to mention that, though - after all, if she was going to live here, she needed to be useful, and lazing about the vardo just because she hadn't slept well was hardly useful at all.
Stretching a bit, she eyed the box where her spark rested comfortably, unsure whether she should take it with her . . . she didn't want to leave it here, but wasn't sure it was a good idea to bring it with her to work (hidden or not), as she found herself getting distracted by thoughts of what her little Essentic would be like once it emerged. Unable to fully make up her mind, she hesitated before it, reaching into the box to stroke the stone, to feel its smoothness again, before turning to Faolan with a small, slightly worn-looking smile.
"I suppose I'd best be going now," she said quietly, walking over to him and kissing him on the cheek.

Faolan had been sitting at the table, clad only in a well-worn pair of jeans, counting the earnings from the previous night. He tilted his head, obliging the kiss, then moved his ear a bit, silently begging for kisses to it.

Ellandra giggled a little and supplied a gentle kiss to Faolan's wiggling ear. "I really do have to go now, though," she added, watching as Faolan melted before moving to the door of the vardo and opening it, peeking out without actually stepping outside just yet.

Keagan practically walked into the vardo as the door opened, ushering Ellandra back inside with one hand, the other holding up a bag. "Who wants donuts?"
Foalan held up a hand, head still down from his faceplant on the table at the ear kisses. "Yo."
The old man looked at his son, then at Ellandra. "Found out about his ears, didn't you? You wanna see something really funny?" He walked over to the table, setting the bag down, and got behind his son, leaning over Faolan. Before the younger man could react, Keagan was stroking the poor guy's ears. It didn't take long before Faolan was panting and making keening noises. Then his foot started tapping on the floor.
"Just like a dog, idn't he?" Keagan chuckled, letting go of Faolan and ignoring him when the young man slumped off the chair to curl up on the floor, still shuddering. "So, Elle. I figure you can follow me around today and take some notes while I look over things that need repairs."

Ellandra nodded. "Of course.... just a moment," she said quietly, kneeling next to her husband. "You going to be all right, hmm?" she asked in a whisperd, stroking his hair and avoiding his ears. The poor thing. . . his father could be rather cruel to him sometimes. Though. . . secretly, she'd been a bit amused and felt guilty for it.

Foa nodded, looking a bit dazed, still panting and shuddering. "K-kinda used t-to him do-doing that." He moved around, getting on his hands and knees and then crawling back into the chair. Reaching across the table, he snagged the bag of donuts and fished one out, taking a bit and getting a complete look of bliss at the deliciousness of it.
Keagan patted Fao on the back as if the young man had never vacated the seat. "You can get off your lazy a** and come along, too."

Ellandra giggled, not bothering to take a donut for herself; it would be too hard to eat one and take notes, after all. The look on Faolan's face made her wish she had a camera - really, her husband was so. . . . silly sometimes, without even trying! She smiled at Keagan and gathered a notebook and a pen, ready to start the day and hoping inwardly that this would go quickly so she could come back and rest relatively soon.

Keagan looked Elle over, squinting one eye a bit. "You sure you're up to goin' walkabout, lass? This 'un here still keepin' you up?" He slapped Fao on the back, making the poor guy swallow a piece of donut wrong and start choking a little, not that Keagan noticed. "Honestly, lad, I know you're both enjoyin' the honeymoon, but ease up on the girl. You don't wanna go breakin' her in the first week, eh?" He peered down at Fao. "Lordy, boy, don't you know how to eat proper?" He slapped the young man on the back again, helping clear the donut chunk.
"Thanks, Da," Faolan wheezed softly, letting his head thump to the table and covering it with his hands. Donuts appreciated, he still was always worn out by his dad's visits. The old man could be somewhat . . . overbearing. He peered up at Keagan. "I ain't wearin' her out that much. She's just tired 'cause she's adjusting, that's all."
"Adjusting to what?" Keagan asked, looking over at Elle.

Ellandra squeaked, blushed, and hid her face behind the notebook. How was she supposed to answer that?!? She didn't know if Keagan was supposed to know yet or not - or - or how he'd react, or - or anything! "U-u-ummmmmmm um um um......" she stammered, completely unintelligibly as she just barely peeked over the notebook's edge at the carnival owner, sure her face was as red as a tomato - oh well, she guessed she hadn't gotten past her timidness as much as she'd thought she had.

"Well, she's no help," Keagan said then looked at Faolan. "You. Speak. What's going on?"
Faolan sat up and sighed, looking up at his dad. "She's carrying my child."
Keagan's eyebrows went up. "You better be kiddin', lad." Foalan shook his head and Keagan smacked him upside the head. "What? You couldn't wait even a month into the marriage?" Then he thought about it. "How do you know? You haven't even known each other long enough to even have signs."

Ellandra wanted to help Faolan out, but was still too tongue-tied to do so, so instead she just hurried to Faolan's side and wrapped her arms around him, trying not to let her embarrassment get the best of her for much longer. How could they explain this, honestly? She felt more than a little trapped right now.

Fao put an arm around Ellandra, giving his father a warning look. Try and hit me again with her right next to me, I dare you, old man. The two stared each other down a moment longer before Foalan stood up, moving Ellandra back out of the way, then went to the bedroom and pushed the door open. "In there, Da."
Keagan walked over and glanced in, seeing a strange kid sitting on the bed. The child looked up from the tarot pattern it was laying out, flexing wings attached to its back, feathers and cards drifting down to settle on the quilt. The oddest thing was the eyes, though. Keagan had never seen a person with rainbow eyes.
He looked back at Fao. "Explain and be damn quick."
"Da, I want you to meet Ziazan. It's an Essentic. It knew about the baby when it touched Elle and told us about it," Faolan said softly, leaning in the doorway.

Ellandra bit her lip, still wordless and afraid, and terrified of how things would turn out now that Keagan had seen Ziazan - unintentionally, her thoughts turned to her own spark, her little one who had yet to emerge, wondering what was going to happen, what would need to be done for both Essentics. . . She could feel fear rising up in her again and she sat down on the spot, trying her hardest to keep calm. This - this wouldn't necessarily go badly - there - there was no guarantee of that - it - it might be okay - it might be. . . .

"Didn't think there were any left in the world," Keagan said, walking into the bedroom to have a better look at the strange child. He gently tilted Zia's chin up to see his eyes more. "So, wee one, how did you get latched onto my idiot boy?"
"Tis a funny story, that. Not an interestin' one, though. No matters. I'm here now and I'll not be leaving," Ziazan said, moving his head away from the old man's hand. He stood up on the bed, still not anywhere near Keagan's height. "So, what now?"
Keagan shrugged. "Welcome to Farstep. Try not to bring the law down on us." He glanced back at Faolan at the doorway, then looked at Ziazan again. "Quite a few secrets being kept these days it seems."
Zia tilted his head. "If only for safety's sake." He looked over at Faolan and the half-demon came in, putting a hand on Zia's head.
"You ain't angry?" Faolan asked and Keagan shook his head.
