Setting
Outside of the forest's edge lies a long strand of beach, the open field. The sand is peachy-white and of fine grains. The water is a clear and bright turquoise. The sky above is blue with cottony, white clouds scattered across it.
Anyone is welcome to join, and Surf 'N Sand event winners are encouraged to participate ^^ yes your eggus can come too if there's an adult or fawn that can cart them around :]
___________________________________________________________________________________ Coquille sat on the soft sand and faced the sea. Without a word, she nuzzled the two eggs at her flank. They weren't her own, rather, she had found them just that morning. She didn't know who was their dam or their sire, because they were all alone by the seaside. She had waited for someone to arrive and claim them, but as the tide rolled in, she decided they must have been abandoned, and took them in as her own. One was black, cream, and beige. She named her Hirondelle. The other was canary, turquoise, and indigo. She named her Marisol. ((hirondelle and marisol are still fawns though))
Coquille felt calm and tranquil by the lapping waves and the soft sounds of the water against the sand. Her eyes were half shut and she sat silently guarding the abandoned eggs.

Silently the stallion grazed on the seagrass near the water's edge taking great delight in the briny sweetness of the new green shoots. As he grazed the leafy mutated horn dipped into the surf enticing nearby fish to nibble on it. On occasion Falkor took advantage of this and would snap a fish out of the shimmering blue surf but today their insistent pecking did nothing more then annoy him. With a snort he pawed at the rolling water frightening the little finned menaces then watched as their sliver forms darting along the shoreline towards deeper water. As his eyes followed the flight of the fish he suddenly became aware of the fact that he wasn't alone.
On the other side of little watery channel was a mare tending her eggs. It seemed strange to him that she would be alone with her clutch along the sea shore but then who was he to judge? Falkor raised his muzzle and scented the sea breeze for signs of other kirin but didn't register any immediately so he decided to be neighborly and introduce himself to the lovely mare.
Warm damp sand flew as he trotted over to the mare's resting place. "May your lines be strong," he called out as he nodded towards the eggs nestled at her side. "I did not realize that this beach contained such a delicate blossom. My name is Falkor. I do hope that I'm not disturbing you but I would not have been able to live with myself if I didn't stop to greet one as lovely as yourself. How do you find the day, lovely lady?"The odd male grinned then bowed his head in greeting.

Coquille nodded at the stallion in return. His bright, golden coat dazzled her in a way. She didn't expect to see something so brilliant; it rivaled the turquoise sea. His compliments flattered her slightly, as she was not used to such treatment, but she showed no sign of that.
"These," she said, nudging the eggs beside her, "are not my lines, though, I would have loved for these beautiful eggs to be mine...." she whispered softly, barely audible. "My name is Coquille, and I find this day to be quite pleasant. The sun should warm these young ones very well"
Gently, she sniffed and nuzzled the eggs, turning them around so that all sides would get the same amount of warmth. A quiet clicking noise could be heard as they bumped against each other. "And how do you fare, Falkor?"

As Coquille waited for a reply, she felt a nudging at her side. The eggs rocked back and forth and her heart raced. Excited, she knew they were hatching and kept her head close to them. A crack formed in Hirondelle's egg and a black hoof protruded from it. Marisol's bright egg was next, and a single horn emerged from the shell. Small bleating noises sounded from their mouths as they stumbled from their broken protection. Their eyes were closed and their coats were wet. Their forelegs were outstretched and as they tried to stand, they wobbled on their new legs and fell to their knees. Joy crept over Coquille's face. She saw Hondiselle, and while the foal lacked a horn, she had small, but beautiful wings and a swallowtail. Her eyes moved to Marisol, whose coat was a brilliant array of yellow, turquoise-blue, and purple. She couldn't help but smile as she licked the newborns clean.
((hm...how are they going to eat if Coquille has never been a mom and has no milk haha))

((I'm unsure if they need milk or not *Checks the Kirinpedia* ))
Allus ran and 'pranced' along the shores of the beach. His hooves splashed in the rising and the falling of the waves. He gave a soft snort as a few sprinkles of water splashed into his nostrils. The seahorse kirin shook his head and took in a deep breath of the salty air.
The fins on his back flickered as he rounded the corner. Just at this moment his front left hoof fell deeper into the soft sand, into a hole caused by the waves of the ocean. With a loud 'thud' the stallion tumbled forward falling flat on his stomach, his fur and skin getting covered with the wet sand.
Removing his hoof from the 'hole' he pushed himself back to his all fours a big childish grin on his face. He moved and nipped at the falling and rising of the waves which crashed upon the beach, almost in attempt to pay them back for making him fall. Allus may be an adult but he seemed oddly childish for one. All that ever seemed to be on the stallion's mind was playing, just like a little foal.
Failing at punishing the waves he pawed at the wet sand with his front hooves. He reared up on his hind legs and came down just as the waves crashed onto the sand in front of him. He giggled lightly as the water sprayed up and tried once more, continuing to do so amusing himself with the single rise and fall of the ocean. All the time while he was 'playing' with the waves he had yet to notice the other few kirin behind him.

((reading the kirinpedia now. apparently females bury the eggs in moss. but coquille is young and knows not about mothering so there haha. and i think my babies will grow slow because she cant feed them with milk))
Hirondelle and Marisol were scrambling about in a jumbled mess of hoove, mane, and long legs. Their eyes slowly opened and squinted to adjust to the bright beach light. The first thing they saw was Coquille, who gently nuzzled them both as they crawled towards her. Instinctively, they tried to suckle, but she was dry and they bleated in protest. She was no mother, and could not produce the milk they needed. Looking around for a patch of soft grass that was gentle enough for them to graze on, she saw another yellow-y tinted kirin. He played in the waves as if he had no care in the world. She stared at him for a while, intrigued by his actions, that deceived his age.

((Yep all they need is soft grass and such..I wonder if seaweed would work))
Over the noise of the crashing waves onto the beach Allus heard the sounds of the bleating foals. His ears flicked behind him as he stopped his 'playing' with the ocean's waves. He turned his head over his shoulder curious to where the new sounds were coming from. His dark yellow eyes wandered along the beach and soon landed on Coquille and the two newly hatched foals. His curiosity piked even more he trotted his way over to them. "Hello," He spoke his voice light and bouncy. His eyes were on Coquille at first before they drifted to the hatchlings. "Soo cute," He cooed, his tail flicking behind them. "So what's there names?" He questioned the turtle kirin. "They don't look like you, where did you find them? Are you going to raise them yourself? Need any help? Whats your name?" All his questions that had formed in his mind flowed out in a stream at once. "Mines Allus"

A raspy chuckle escaped her throat against her will. In the order he asked them, she answered each question, "This winged beauty is named Hirondelle, and this bright foal is Marisol. I found them on this beach, alone, and I have taken them in as my own. I don't think.." She tilted her head, her brows meeting, "...that I need help, but my name is Coquille. A pleasure to meet you, Allus." She blinked her blue eyes at the fins on his back, reminiscent of the sea, like the shell upon her back. Her words were quiet and small pauses littered her speech, as if she was uncomfortable with the sound of her own voice. She continued to lick and groom the foals, drying them off as they snuggled against her. Then she reached out for a strand of seaweed and pulled it to them. They nibbled on the ends, it was hard and rubbery, but with persistence, they managed to gnaw off small bits that they swallowed quickly.

Allus Lowered himself down to his stomach so he can watch them closely a sheepish grin on his face. "Can I still help watch them?" He questioned her his ears flicking. Basically the only thought on his mind was playing. He knew little foals liked to play and he did as well. "It would give you a break from time to time...Please May I?" His tail flicked behind him in a playful manner.

Coquille tried not to roll her eyes but let out a small grin, "I suppose." She noticed the difficulty the foals had eating and took a large mouthful of the seaweed and chewed it a little. Then she spit it out for the foals to eat. As they ate, Marisol nipped Hirondelle on the ear, who let out a snort of protest and nipped her back. Marisol just flicked her tail playfully and went back to eating. "They'll probably want to play as soon as they're done with their meal" She said softly.

Allus' head and ears perked up at the word play. "May I play with them?" He questioned hopefully. "I promise I'll be careful." His tail seemed to flick much faster behind him, a bit to anxiously.

"Of course" She said, nodding to the playful adult. What a strange kirin...sa mature in appearance, but his heart was as young as her foals, who looked up at the stallion with wide eyes full of curiosity. They finished their meal quicker now and at the last bite, attempted to stand again. One wobbly leg at a time, sometimes leaning against eachother, they got to their hooves with the help of Coquille's gentle nudges. Their muscles warmed and worked to keep them upright and they approached Allus.
Sniffing him, Marisol nipped at his ears and bounced a little before falling to the ground, only to shake her head and stand upright again.
Hirondelle licked his cheek and pulled on his mane, her little feathered tail twitching behind her.

"Hey you arne't suppose to eat me, but play with me," He muttered softly at the two nudging Hirondelle with the tip of his nose. His eyes flicked towards Marisol. Tilting his head to the side he began to wonder what the two little foals wanted to play, or if they wanted to continue to nibble on him.

Amphitrite's hoof steps were muffled by the wet sand of the shoreline. She smiled, feeling the incoming waves wash against her hooves every so often, wetting the tufts of fur. She paused, only long enough to dine on some sea grass. She pondered for a few moments on if she would like to enjoy more... or perhaps some fish or clams as well. Her decision was not yet made when she heard other voices drifting across the salty sea air.
Turning, the sea colored mare watched the other Kirin with amusement. Deciding against clams for her supper, for now, she continued on her walk. Though she neared the others, she offered only a slight nod in greeting. She was never one to intrude on others uninvited.

Coquille chuckled gently again and nudged the backsides of her foals, encouraging them to interact. "I'm sure they are just playing, not feeding" She answered the young-minded stallion and saw a swath of blue from the corner of her eye. She originally mistook it for a wave but its movements were different from the surrounding sea. Looking up, she saw another mare advancing cautiously, as if unsure if she were welcome. Coquille nodded to the mare, showing her that she was not a threat but rather welcomed her if she chose to stay. Then Coquille returned her vigilant watch to her "children".
Hirondelle nickered at Allus when he touched her nose. She rubbed the side of her face against his and wobbled over to his flank. Jumping awkwardly, she kicked her back legs and wiggled to remain steadily on his back, trying not to fold his fins.
Marisol whinnied and shook her head and neck, her short main shaking in a wave of blue and purple. She then bit Allus's horn and pulled on it a little, play-fighting with him.
((haha i'm making them like horses >.<;; i dont know what kirin sound like xD. Allus is like an uncle for them hahaha))
