It was the peek of noon and the sun was high over head. Many assortment of wild animals were at the drinking hole, it was crowded, but Pilate was hungry and thirsty. Drinking next to things you ate usually put a distaste in her mouth. When you were drinking next to some one it was not cool to think about eating them.
So on the little green cheetah went to find a place up stream to fish and drink and possibly sunbath. That sounded like a complete afternoon of fun right there to the cub. The cheetah's cleaver paws worked skillfully on the slippery river banks as she passed by small herds of prey and groups of predators. Still, it amazed the young teen how the two classes of animals could drink together.
Finally she reached a nice empty place where she could dip her head down and have a few laps of water. It was nice and cold and refreshing as the water drained down her throat.

Ruu'sh was in a similar situation; a thirsty tongue and an empty stomach lured him to the packed watering hole. He searched around with bright blue eyes for a spot to drink. No luck so far.
With the sun beating down on his bright pelt, he was growing wary, soon slinking into a patch of fawn and golden colored grasses to sit--Sit and wait until the time was right. Nothing would be better than a cool, refreshing drink of water right now. His mind wandered further, thinking of waterfalls and beautiful leopards splashing in the shallow bank under a bright crescent moon. Of course the grounds he roamed were nothing compared to that.
Only dreams.

The radio active cheetah continued to greedily lap up the cool streams water. It was just the cure for the scorching African sun that was blazing in the sky. Thank god for water.
But still, the cheetah had another problem. Pilate needed something to eat... there was plenty to eat around the watering hole, yeah, but the cheetah was still so young. No way she could take down any of these animals. . . by her self.
And thats when she spotted the golden leopard sitting. Pilate got up and wandered right over to him, taking a seat next to him and staring with her bright pink eyes. He looked like he was thinking about something important. Pilate just watched.

One was bouncing along the rocks around his imaginary bank, her pelt was pale and creamy like a cloud stirred up. She stopped and stared at him with the brightest green eyes he'd ever seen. She was so dainty..and pretty. He could almost feel her hot breath panting...and panting..and..
He snapped back to his senses, realizing there was someone next to him. Another like himself, only younger he assumed. She was staring at him, he noticed.
..How long was she here?
He cleared his throat and stretched, casually, yawning.
"..I'm sorry. Was I ignoring you?" He spoke, slightly confused.

The radioactive lump of fur tilted her head up at the leopard and shrugged.
"Not really," Pilate shrugged again, "I just couldn't help but notice you were deep in thought..... ?" The cheetah tilted her head to the side again. Her huge ears flopped long side her when she did.
What had this leopard been thinking of to put him in such a state.
"I know..." A grin formed on the cheetahs maw , "You must be some kind of prophet of some sort. Pondering the great answer to life are we?"

The male's eyes focused on the fellow cheetah, a grin forming from a smile.
Prophet? HA. I wish!
"Oh no." He replied with a chuckle, idly batting at the feathers adorned around his neck.
He paused. "I was waiting for a spot down there." He motioned with a paw. "Water. I was thinkin' about water." He partially told the truth, right?

The cheetah tilted her head again and couldn't help but laugh, " Oh , I'm sorry. You just looked so deep in thought. " The cheetah got up and started back down to the watering hole. She stopped half way and smiled up at the strange new leopard.
"Well, aren't you coming Prophet," The cheetah chuckled again, "I'll show you how to get water," The cheetah started back off down to the watering hole again. Her tail twitched behind her as her graceful paws carried her.
On a day like today, water was good. Water was very good.

Oh, water! He could feel it running through his paws now..
Ruu'sh trotted over to the cheetah, his features frowning at his apparent nickname. He stopped, chest fluffed up and his brow furrowed slightly.
"My name's Ruu'sh. You are?"

Pilate looked over her shoulder at the male, 'Rush', and smiled. "Pilate," She turned back to what she was doing. Oh yes, clearing out a spot at the watering hole wouldn't be to hard with two creatures with sharp claws and teeth.
Her target, two wimpy looking warthogs. The green cheetah was certain they'd move ... with a little help with her claws and teeth.
"Follow my lead," The cheetah gave a nod back to Rush, and she was off. Her scruff was fully quilled and her tail was fanned out. The cheetah growled like a steady motor boat.

Ruu'sh blinked at her. "Pilate? Nice name.." he wandered for a bit, thinking of water..and pretty leopards. Mostly water this time.
After a few ear swivels he had come to realize what she was doing; simply clearing a path. Chasing a few warthogs around? Now we're talking!
He darted ahead, not as fast as her.. Actually, eating her dust. But the look on those warthog's faces? Priceless!

The warthogs had done just as the cheetah had thought and scattered. They looked pathetic as they had run away. The cheetah turned and gave the leopard a smile in thanks. She couldn't have done that on her own. The other animals around the hole seemed unfazed that the two had just chased warthogs off.
"Well, there you have it, water~" The cheetah chimed. She was proud that they had cleared the path. Now maybe she could catch a decent fish to snack on. She licked her chops thoughtfully.

The leopard paid the others no mind. Waaater! It was there: cool and clean. Ready to lap up. Ruu'sh trotted down to the bank, sighing as the water seeped between his claws.
He eagerly bent over and began lapping. It tasted just as he imagined it would; Crisp and refreshing. A relief from the harsh African sun.

The cheetah chuckled watching the leopard gorge him self with the water. It was hot though, and she'd just spent some time getting water her self. Still, it made her laugh some more.
"Whoah there boy," She laughed, "You might drown at the rate your drinking," Pilate laughed some and took a few paw steps into the watering hole. Mmmmm fish...The cheetah waited.

Ruu'sh's ears pricked, raising his head to look at the cheetah in the water.
Water dripped from his whiskers as he smirked and sat down, observing her from the bank.
"Going to catch the 'catch of the day', huh?"

Pilate smirked but stayed focus on the task at hand.
"You could say that Prophet," The cheetahs tail swished as she watched small minnows weave around her paws. She wasn't after any small fry, no, she wanted a big sucker of a fish.
That big sucker of a fish came too, nibbling right at her paw. Only an idiot would miss out on this catch. Pilate moved swiftly and ... the fish got away. Some how in the process of 'catching' the fish , she'd ended up on her side, laying in the water. What the hell?
