It was a wonderful day. Suichii lay under the shde of the mountain he called home and peacefully watched as famlies from all ove the range came down to the wavlley to play. It was from here that he derived most of his pleasure. He'd had quite enough adventures for one time and was perfectly happy to just it and watch other's enjoy the pleasent afternoon. Winds came through and rufled the manes of the other parents watching thier young as well as his own, tickeling his neck and back. The only think souring this day was his poor mother, moiurning in her sleep at home. It was Claude who forced him out, who said he needed time away, time to recover. Suichii did chaffe at any separation from Scarlet. Still, even that couldn't tear him from the blessed peice. Always it was here where he had escaped, and it was here he did once more. Laughter and games... the trials of life seemed so distant and almost legendary int he sanse that they could not be real. He sighed and lifted his head, arching his neck so as to stretch it. He'd have to go home soon, yet he was in no hurry.

She'd always been a homebody. A studious and introverted mare who preferred to say in the company of her family. They were safe, loving and rarely pushed her into situations she couldn't handle or simply didn't want. Truth be told they had been even more careful as of late given the upheaval that had occured within one area of the family. Not long after her birth, her grandmother had left her grandfather - the reasons had remained a secret, Blais had never been one to elaborate on such things but it had left a mark upon each and every one of them. Islagiatt had been decidedly quiet from that point on as each individual was granted the chance to recover and to muse over the events that had occured.
However time healed all wounds and as fate would have it, the family had recovered and life had slowly began to move into the realms of normality. This came with all the usual trimmings of course; the pranking of the bachelors, the motherly blustering of the matrons and all the other antics that tended to feature within Islagiatt. This in mind it hadn't been long before Mariasha had encountered the matriarch of Islagiatt herself (her grandmother to be precise) who had heartedly informed her that she needed to see a little bit of the world. Oh, Mariasha was definitely not the adventurous sort and Yei Umeko had been aware of this but everyone needed to broaden their horizons.
Consequently the swirled mare had listened and gathering up her composure and courage, she had slipped off to the world below. Her trek had been an arduous one, slow due to her lack of knowledge of what lay beyond the slopes but eventually she had left the world of Islagiatt behind her and had moved on into the lowlands. What she found there was definitely fascinating; with so much to observe she hadn't been short of subjects to watch and information to gather.
This afternoon was of no exception as she wandered lazily towards one of the valleys to the north. Weaving from side to side and lost within her own thoughts, she would soon find herself in the midst of many families and what Yei Umeko had often called the epicentre of the Kawani. She hadn't been lying when she said that lowland soquili were sociable creatures!

Suichii turned green eyes to a mare who had newly entered his serne field of vision. Of two things he was absolutley sure. One was that she was new to the valley. The only reason he knew this was becasue she looked highly in awe of his home. And second was that she was from the mountains. One of the reasons he knew that was because she'd chosen a mountainous region to visit. When venturing into the unknown, Soquili tend to step tentitivley into areas they are familiar with. Case in point, Suichii's mountain-top home just above him, the mounatin to the east, where Claude intented to set up his family, the mountain to the north, reserved for Sweet's liniage, and the mountain to the south, reserved for himself and his someday-mate. These four mountains created a sort of bowl through which the forest cut as well as it's stream. The serene setting invited many families and Scarlet was more than elated to have them. Suichii pulled himself from his musing and stood elegantly, his tail brushing debris from his pelt. Stretching as he moved Suichii sauntered over to Mariasha and smiled gently, boweing his head in respect. Sevreal foals had also noticed her and stopped playing, however, with attention spans the size of twigs thy were off again. Suichii laughed as they passed before him and he reached ear shot. A few more paces and he could speak without shouting. He slowed, not wanted to encroach on her space and said, "Hello, traveler. What brings you to my home?"

To inferr that Mariasha had come straight to a mountainous region for security was wrong. If she had sought security she would have returned home. No, her reason for being in this particular valley was through the encouragement of her mother. When her mother had been a young mare it hadn't been the territory of anyone, it had merely been a gathering place for the sociable and if Mariasha had known that it was someone's territory she would have left immediately to find a public place. Confrontation was not something she sought, nor did she appreciate it.
She had seen quite a bit of the lowland so far, from the plains to the lakes. If it hadn't been for the advice of one of her herd mates she would have even visited the beach. However, according to the mare that lived upon the coast it was not yet the season and so, Mariasha's curiosity would have to be satiated at a later date. Alas, she wouldn't have quite called her feeling 'awestruck' either - that would have been too much credit to a region such as this but she was bemused by the accuracy of her grandmother and her advice...This was certainly a busy area.
Nevertheless, she would not be granted the opportunity to observe in silence as the stallion approached her and after a few moments she flicked her gaze more fully towards him and creased her brow. Had he just said this was his home?
..Yup, he definitely had.
"An accident, apparently," she responded quietly and with her typical delicacy moved to place greater distance between them. "My apologies, I was in search of a public forum. I will excuse myself," she continued easily and sauntered away.

Suichii tilted his head in confusion for a moment. Perhaps he was inncorrect in his earlier assumptions. Well, he knew he was wrong, since he was just cut down at the knees and mowed over by this new mare. Half of him wanted to be very angry. That part of him wanted to let he walk off, or direct her, perhaps, to Tulgey's forest and let him deal with her. But the other half, mostly controlled by his mother, back handed with other side and rolled over it. He quickly cantered over to Mariasha and bowed his head gently. "Do forgive me, lady, but I did not mean to infer that you were not welcome here. Quite to the opposite, my mother would be insulted if you did not feel as at home as she does." That was a lie, of course. Scarlet would not have been offended. She rarely ever was. All that happened was that she'd see that, perhaps, something was amiss, and then strive to make it better for future visitors. "If you wish to use this as a place to rest, or meet new soquili, then please do." Mainly it was his own guilt at maybe running her off that kept him trying to get you to stay. He couldn't say, really.
