It had been two days since he had met Omoa, sitting under the tree busily fiddling with clay. Two days since he had made the statue of the lion with the little green lioness. Two days since he had made up a wondrous tree with transluscent petals that fairly glowed in the pristine moonlight.

Two days.

It hadn't been a lot of time, especially considering that he had spent the night before occupied. Still, he had done his best. He had done his very best to find this tree that he had imagined. Plucked out of thin air based on a distant memory, but he had found it. At least, he had found something that would serve his purposes.

It wasn't nearly as beautiful or as glamorous as he had made it out to be. It was just a little tree, with sprawling branches that spread in all directions, gnarled and hardened by the heavy sunlight. The flowers on it were few and not nearly as large as they could have been, but they were white, and that was all that mattered to him.

With the night, the moonlight, and the sparkle of stars overhead, whether or not the tree lived up to Omoa's expectations was irrelevant.

Since childhood, speech had been his strength. He could talk his way into anything just as easily as he could talk his way out. He could turn things sideways and upside if he so wished, simply by weaving together words and pairing them up with the proper tones and expressions. It was no big deal. Not for a born actor, anyway, and he had demonstrated this numerous times.

For sure. He had had his fair share of experience with lionesses - and maybe much more than his fair share.

Now, he stood under the very tree where he had met Omoa two days ago, awaiting the arrival of the younger lioness. They had agreed on this time and this location, and when she showed up, they would set off to seek out the flowers that he had promised her. And on the way, he would start to work his magic.

Omoa could barely contain her excitement as she made herself walk slowly towards the tree that she and Msiba had agreed to meet at first. Two days ago, she hadn't known who he was other than a handsome face with a charming personality. Now, she might very well have a crush on him. But she couldn't tell Ithie, oh no. That would be the worst thing Omoa could do: breaking up their friendship for a boy? No, never.

So Msiba had to kept a secret. For now, at least.

Besides, it was only in Ithemba's best interests that her best friend kept this secret, as much as she wanted to share the news with the world. If she lost Ithie...well, she wasn't so sure what would happen, but she did know it wouldn't be anything so good as having her around. Especially now that Omoa was visiting and could see her whenever they wanted. But nevermind that. Nothing bad would happen, she was sure.

She could feel the butterflies in her stomach transform into a whirlwind, spinning round and round and making her feel all giddy inside and out. For the past day, at least, her thoughts had only revolved around the handsome male. Her curiosity at why he had stumbled her way and had decided to stay with her and talk. Her apprehension in meeting him again. Her excitement at seeing him again. And her hopes for what might happen. Could he be the one for her? There was only one way to find out.

Omoa gracefully picked her way through a tangle of roots and hopped out onto the other side, now putting her in direct gaze of the tree they had sat in front of only two days before.

"Hello, Msiba," she called out softly with a smile on her face, walking up to him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you waiting."

His deep blue eyes found Omoa as the green lioness made her way carefully toward him, and a smile instinctively surfaced on his face. Good. Now, it was time for everything else to fade away, and once again it was time to work some of that magic.

Not for the first time, he felt a jolt of glee run through him at the acknowledgement of the gift that he posessed. He didn't believe in fate, and he didn't quite believe in the gods, so he thanked nothing but the gift itself. He almost thanked his mother for the silver tongue she had given him through birth, but that would have been bringing up some of the past that, at least for now, he was determined to keep dead and buried.

"Omoa," he returned the greeting, letting a sense of unrestrained joy at seeing her flood the air with his easy smile and the twinkle that lit in his eyes at the very sight of her. "Don't be." He added. "Everything good is worth the wait." He let his gaze linger on hers for a moment, before breaking the contact between their eyes and turning sideways.

"Shall we?" He asked, eager to start the walk toward the tree.

Even as they padded, he wondered if she had any inkling of how the night might go. There was a certain sense of purpose around meetings held in the night, and there was often good reason for such a meeting. Night was symbolic of something more than friendship, however it might have been interpreted.

Still, regardless of what Omoa thought about their current situation, it would play a small part in his grand scheme of things. Because regardless of what she expected, he would play it to his advantage. Because he could. Because that was what he was here for.

The little lioness smiled up at her companion and happily nodded. "I'm ready when you are," she replied, easily falling into step beside him as he lead the way. Omoa was excited to see the pretty tree he spoke of, and also to spend more time with him.

The moment she had seen him through the trees her heart had skipped a beat, she wouldn't lie to herself about that. It was crazy to think that the female could fall this easily for someone, but Msiba had it all: he was handsome, smart, could hold an intelligent conversation, and was up for trying new things. Plus he was an explorer/wanderer, just like she had been. So she had some things to connect to him on, and what she couldn't only drew her closer to him.

"So, how have you been since we last met?" she asked, starting a conversation. Silence was fantastic, but while he was here, she wanted to talk to him. Talk with him. Hear his voice.

To Omoa, the little naive lioness, meetings at night were no different than the ones held during the day. Sure, she had heard of things happening only during the evening hours, of course (she wasn't deaf). But she had never thought enough about the subject to connect the two together, and perhaps even guess as to what might really happen tonight.

It was all a surprise, one she was eagerly heading towards, because Msiba was there with her.

He smiled, and shrugged. It was either evasive, or uncaring. Or perhaps both, it was difficult to tell. "Not so bad," he said with a little nod. "Better now that we're meeting again. For sure."

He glanced ahead, and a pensive look stole across his face for a brief moment, as if he was trying to decide whether or not he should tell her something. It could either make or break their little rendez-vous, he supposed. It depended on how Omoa took the news, and that was risky enough. He lapsed into a short silence as he weighed the options. Either way, when they got to this tree, she would realize that it was not all he had made it out to be. Except that if he didn't tell her, he still had the chance on the walk to convince her to shift her focus elsewhere, so that the tree seemed to be of little consequence.

But he could tell her. If she reacted badly, she would stalk off, go home, and it would most likely be pointless for him to try to convince her to come back. If she didn't, though, he could stop wondering about the tree, and they could get the hell on with it.

He quite liked the sound of the second one.

Turning back, he took a breath - or at least, he made a show of taking a breath, so it was obvious that what he was about to say was difficult. "I have a confession to make," he said, his voice almost sheepish. "This tree, I uh... well I realized it might not be all I made it out to be. It must be the time of year, or, I don't know what, but it's not nearly as spectacular as it could have been.

"And I know you said you need your beauty sleep," he continued hastily. "But I didn't know how to find you to cancel, and in any case, I don't think I really wanted to, because..." Here, he trailed off and looked away, ears back as if to stop himself from continuing.

She blushed lightly but smiled as well. Good, that's what she felt like, now seeing him again after two days.

Omoa blinked and shook her head at him. "It's fine," she said calmly. "I'm sure it's just as beautiful as you described it, if not more so." Her trust in him was inexplicably strong, for some reason. Perhaps it was because of their connection from their first meeting, or perhaps it was even a little bit of her crush speaking in this case. Oh well, either way: she didn't mind.

She giggled at the mention of her 'beauty sleep.' "No, it's fine," she repeated. "I have plenty of time to sleep and nap and do whatever else. I'd much rather see the tree with you, tonight, more than anything." There, she ventured out. She went out on a limb. She was the first to say something like that, and now it was her turn to wait and see what he would say in response to that.

As usual, the little lioness had no real idea of what was going on, so her trust in him was the strongest thing she had to hold onto in this situation. If Ithie was here, well..Omoa wasn't entirely sure what her best friend would do. But she didn't want to think about that right now.

"I trust you." Omoa smiled.

"Well, I just... I didn't want to let you down," he began, his eyes drifting toward her at her words. Good, so it was all going according to plan. Or at least, as much of a plan as there could have been. It was hard to tell with these things - more often than not, he just had to sit back, watch as things progressed, and hope for the best. "But I wanted to see you again." He offered, with a small smile.

No, he didn't do this a lot. The midnight outing, the girl, with the moon and the stars and... Well, that was the impression he was trying to give, and as long as that held out, as long as she continued to think that this was special and important, then it would all be okay.

"You trust me?" He echoed, the smile that had lingered on his face turning uncertain in the blink of an eye. "That's good," he added. "Because I don't know how much I trust myself at the moment."

A small, frustrated frown made its way briefly onto his handsome face. "I feel like I did something bad right now, and, I don't know. I feel like I lied to you, but letting you still come. Because I knew the tree wasn't as pretty as I'd said before today, but I didn't do anything to stop it. It just doesn't really feel right. And I don't like that, because it's a shame."

He looked over at her frankly. "Tonight was supposed to be..." He shrugged. "Perfect."

She laughed, more at what lengths he was going to for her than what he was saying. He was so sweet; how had he not gotten a mate by now? She blushed at the thought and shooed it away.

"It is perfect. Already, it is, and I haven't even seen the tree yet. If it's as beautiful as you say, which I believe to be true, then it'll be fine." If not, then it will still be fine. Omoa wasn't one to judge, and she saw the good in anything and everything. So even if it was a small, scrawny little tree with only a few white flowers, she'd still think it would be beautiful. That's just who she was.

The poor lioness had no idea that the whole thing, mainly, had been a lie. That Msiba had an ulterior motive to gaining her friendship, trust, and more. That tonight hadn't just been planned to be a special night between two friends. That she would soon cry over this handsome lion, and be left with a good many broken things.

Omoa had absolutely no idea what kind of future was heading her way.

"I'm glad I came, because I did want to see you again, too," she repeated, hoping that her insistence on the subject would waive away his uneasiness and they would be fine again, walking towards their destination like the two friends she saw them as.
