Epona roamed through the countryside, her bright eyes intelligent as she surveyed the landscape. The fields were gorgeous that day, the sun shining brilliantly in the early morning light, the breeze dancing with the tops of the trees. She smiled contentedly.
With a loud whinny of delight, she began to run, her strong legs carrying her quickly across the open field. She loved running more than anything else. The wind in her mane, the feeling of her hooves smashing against the earth, it was all glorious for the mare.
She began to slow down as she reached a large lake, and as she gazed at the rippling water she spotted a few fish. With a grin she leaped into the cool liquid, splashing about like a yearling. She could amuse herself easily, and as she calmed down, the water settling itself around her legs, the fish began to nibble at her hooves and she laughed with delight. Unknown to her she was not alone at the large body of water.
