Jun'a - 純阿 born 4-20 t705 in Fields-West-of-the-Feathers, Rinkoku Age: 15 Height: 5'4" Sun Sign: the Spearman Moon Sign: the Two Fans Mind: Dreaming Name: Wood Character: Quiet Talent: First Aid Occupation: Soldier (trained as an archer) Health: Possesses a severe verbal stutter. According to our forecasts, this one will develop Presbyopia earlier than usual, but no other unusual physical characteristics.Abilities: Relatively poor verbal intelligence but good spatial intelligence. For a Dreaming Porcelain, quite good at healing magic. Likes: The countryside, mild weather, having a task, solving problems for other people. Dislikes: Being idle, being shamed or teased or otherwise losing face, hurting other people. Interests: Cooking, the care of domestic animals, hunting and fishing. Romantic inclinations: Vaguely attracted to women, but he isn't sure at all what kind of lady he would like to court. Personality: Jun'a gives the first impression of one who is cool, serious, professional, exacting, and dutiful -- if the Empire had robots, surely his army friends would tease him by likening him to one. It is true that Jun'a does not readily show his emotions and for the most part prefers to focus on the concrete tasks ahead of him rather than wishy-washy what-ifs. However, there is another side to Jun'a, slightly buried but still there; he is kind, peace-loving, attentive to details and sensitive to subtleties of feeling. While his face remains expressionless and his projections remain flat, he will bandage up a young trainee's arm, put out food and water for a stray cat and her kittens, or carefully attend to the leaves of a struggling plant -- little gestures which, while rarely noticed by a casual observer, reveal his inner tenderness. He would be the perfect warrior-poet if he had any talent with poetry. For not only is Jun'a just not gifted with words, he has a very bad verbal stutter, rendering him almost incapable of forming words aloud. This characteristic does not affect his projections, which are as clear as any other Dreaming Porcelain's, but is still a deep embarrassment to him; having been exposed to the cultural habits of country gentlefolk like his hometown's Judge, he knows that his inability to speak prevents him from successfully mingling in polite society. Perhaps this has also caused him to become taciturn; though it is true he can project without problems, having a reputation for being untalkative reduces the chance of his being put in a situation in which he is supposed to speak aloud. Despite his quietness, he is still the mother-hen of his social group, caring for the other soldiers' physical needs by cooking for them or nursing their injuries, listening to them sympathetically when they are in need of a friend, and watching for their mistakes and helping them correct them before they are punished. These characteristics combined with his strength, calmness, and willingness to carry out orders make his superiors regard him as the most promising trainee of his age group. But perhaps this is because he has never seen a real battle...

Jun'a is the second child of three, flanked by two sisters. His Sleeping mother never left their hometown in her life, working as a housekeeper for the local Judge, while his Dreaming father became a soldier as a youth and traveled around the island with his company of the Rinkoku army; the three children were born during their father's service. Jun'a spent the first few years of his life clinging to his mother's skirts, learning to play quietly with dolls or geometrical toys while she cleaned; as he grew older, he went to work in the local fields, helping the farmers with the lighter work. When Jun'a turned nine, however, his father returned home, retiring from the army due to his declining vigor and eyesight. While at first the boy was a little hesitant about this man he barely knew, Nan'a made great efforts to bond with his son, and soon Jun'a came to deeply like and admire this toughened yet still gentle veteran whose stories of service and patriotism for the Empire filled him with inspiration. Consequently, Jun'a decided he would like to become a soldier as well, fighting to protect the innocent and weak, and upon receiving the Name of Wood joined the army in Rinkoku to begin training. Jun'a excelled; tall and strong, he would have made a good spearman, but he ended up a specialist in archery due to his steady hands and excellent distance vision. Furthermore, he quickly earned the trust of his peers and superiors, for despite having the appearance of being stoic and unfriendly, he was, in fact, a very dutiful and obedient soldier and a helpful, caring friend to the other trainees. However, as the years passed and Jun'a began to realize that being an archer in the army does not simply require strength and accuracy in drawing a bow, but the willingness to someday shoot someone with that bow, he began, secretly, to have doubts. For though Jun'a could shoot down birds when hunting, true, and did indeed care about serving his country, he was not sure that he was capable of killing another intelligent, Fired, thinking and feeling being even if it was outside the range of empathy. For it was not the prospect of his own suffering that bothered him, but rather the horror of having to extinguish another life... For many years, he dismissed or held off those thoughts, believing that as he trained, he would come to have a soldier's courage and conviction. But in 720, when he realized that only only one year of training remained -- soldiers in Rinkoku enter regular service when they are legally 16 -- and his doubts were only growing, he knew he would have to make a decision. Morning practice was interrupted that day by their superior calling Jun'a's squad of eight aside for a special assignment, one that made him seem very grave, even anxious, emotions the young trainees had never seen him show before. Their job, he explained, was to investigate a magical phenomenon, carrying out specific orders which had been distributed through the army by the Imperial Scholars. It sounded to the soldiers like a simple task -- some sort of magical portal had appeared, and while four of the soldiers held it open with enchanted spears, a fifth would carry a device through and activate it. Yet despite this seeming simplicity, the expression on their commander's face disturbed them, and fears simmered within the group as they traveled with him to the site. There, visible through the window in the air, they saw an eerily abandoned street lined by houses in an unfamiliar style, lit by a morning sun. The commander unwrapped the four enchanted spears, then paused, taking stock of his eight charges -- seven anxious faces, but one calm and alert as usual, that of his most reliable student, Jun'a. Thus he handed out the spears to four of the group and then a strange little brass box, with a finger-shaped depression on the top and something jangling and rattling inside like a broken bell, to Jun'a. The idea of killing another Porcelain terrified Jun'a; the idea of disturbing or offending someone worried him. But his own death or injury in the service of the Empire did not bother Jun'a at all -- that, he could face with tranquil courage. So, even as his comrades fretted, Jun'a was able to calmly step through, avoiding the hooked ends of the modified spears, and place the box on the ground as ordered. To activate it, he was to place his thumb in the depression and focus his Wood magic there, another easy task for him -- and as he did so, it emitted a soft, brief chime, as if that action had repaired that broken bell and coaxed it into ringing. But at that moment, there was a cry behind him -- turning his head, he saw that the portal had suddenly scrunched closed, though unable to shut completely with the four hooks thrust through it. He heard the anxious cries of his comrades, the authoritative projections of his commander trying to drown out their panic and instruct them on what to do, but they were still only able to hold the window open a moment longer; it then squeezed itself shut, slicing off the ends of the hook-spears, which dropped to the street with a clatter, their enchantment destroyed. ... Calmly, rationally, Jun'a looked up, peering at the abandoned buildings and feral trees. It seemed that, though not dead, he was lost; so the next step is...

Name: Vesale Winbolt Age: 29 Gender: Male Height: 5'6" Weight: Average weight for his height group Hair: Light straw blonde in colour, cropped to ears length and worn in various messy styles Eyes: Purple Appearance: Vesale is a feline shapeshifter in his later 20’s, He prefers to maintain a hybrid form instead of being fully animal or human, giving the appearance of a normal human man with a cat tail and ears. His isn't skinny, but not overweight either, falling in the average weight for his height, but he does have some muscle definition. Personality: Vesale is a caring kind of person. He feels for the family he has around him, and many of the pets that have seemed to find a place at his home. He is not overly outgoing, he wont bother someone else unless he has a good reason too, though his is not against having conversations with strangers. Having a busy lifestyle does take its toll on some aspects of his life, and he can tend to overlook some of the smaller things, that may not be significant to him, but very important to others. History: Whilst some may say being abandoned on the side of a road as an infant is a poor start to life, things couldn’t have turned out better for Vesale. He was found by an old warlock and was soon adopted into his somewhat crazy household, Tiadne Manor, home to the warlock and his three sisters, and boarding to various other beings from time to time. Vesale grew up to love magic, taking lessons from his adopted father as well as his sisters, all of which were witches (though of the good or bad kind he could never tell) and became passionate about his family and his home. Years passed and Vesale, now a young adult decided to branch out on his own, purchasing a rather unusual home on the outskirts of Barton South, hoping to open a small store as well as a cafe. Talents: Shapeshifting, adept in various magic skills, spell casting, potion making etc. Likes: Magic! Exploring his home, there is always something new to find in Tiadne Manor, reading books, working on his shop (it's not quite finished yet), a good hot chocolate. Dislikes: Spells that go wrong, uncomfortable situations, having nothing to do.
