they are my friends and stuff but they are really bad. Like really, really bad. Like 'hey let's concentrate on 10 man hard modes when we haven't even killed yogg saron in 10 man' bad. Some people are annoying, mostly primadonna healers. We're still making progress in 25 man but we JUST killed Mimiron. We still wipe on Flame Leviathan. We will probably not kill Yogg-Saron until the next raid instance. They think they can complete hardmodes. I know they can't. They think they can kill Algalon. Maybe at level 90. Or 100. Hell, I don't even think they can complete Ulduar 10. Anyone who knows me in the least knows this is probably the worst guild I've ever been in. (I've killed Kel'thuzad at 60, had Hyjal attunement on 2 characters before they made it so you can waltz in, and killed M'uru/KJ pre 3.0) But they are my friends. I joined this guild after my first disbanded. (lols) Since I am in pre med I thought it would be a good fit, cause I thought it would be difficult. Well, turns out since my school is a drinking school, it's pretty easy if you don't drink. Of course it could get harder, but I don't give a s**t because I'm smart. I apped to another guild. More my speed. I apped to them before but I couldn't make the raid times due to a work conflict. Since they know who I am, they are practically begging me to join. (and I will, eventually!lolsldos) How do I leave without pissing my friends off? Keyword friends. I have experience with this.
Just make sure they KNOW waayyyy beforehand that you are even applying for another guild. "Guys, Ill always want to do things in game with you, 5 mans, voa, pvp, blablabla, but I really enjoy raiding and X guild has asked me to apply and I think this is a really good opportunity for me to challenge myself blablabla" Dont let them think you're leaving them for EPIX. Because the second anyone thinks that you think epix > friends then all you are and all you will be to them is a dirty loot whore.
After TBC came out one of our irl friends joined our guild because he "wanted to play with his friends" and managed to stay for all of like 1 week after he dinged 70. He didnt tell anyone he was going to leave, and we all know it was only for purples. (One of his friends got so upset over it he deleted his character and quit wow for a time, yes, ditching a guild of friends who you "want to play with" makes people feel a little... betrayed.) He plays with us now, but Im about 100% certain its only because we're laughably the best alliance guild on our server (we only raid 10 man).
Just make sure they know its for the rush of the raid, not for the shiny objects.

I already applied privately, and would have been trialed had I not been saved this week. They wanted my priest for Thorim hardmode but had to decline because I had to run 10 man hards.
Loot is not of any concern since there is no holy paladin loot in Ulduar whatsoever. ]:
It's difficult for me to leave a guild for greener pastures because I like being committed to things. (which honestly is a good thing) I had to do this in vanilla WoW and actually had to have a friend /gquit for me.
One of our OTs quit, like I said in a previous post, and they left with little 'wtf' factor. Nobody harassed them. We got a few trials to patch up the holes but it's beginning to become a different guild, I don't particularly like some of the new people. Maybe I am just a whiner. xp

IIDX GOOOOLD It's difficult for me to leave a guild for greener pastures because I like being committed to things. (which honestly is a good thing) I had to do this in vanilla WoW and actually had to have a friend /gquit for me. I'm pretty much in the same situation. I've been in the same guild since before I hit level 80. Pre-Ulduar everything was great, got twilight vanquisher ect, ect. The only thing I dislike about the guild is that we raid 9 hours a week. I pretty much play this game for raiding, I only have a single alt that is past level 70 (it's 71 olol). 9 hours/week drives me crazy, It takes us 2/3 days to get to where our progression ends and we have one night (and sometimes a small amount of time left from the 2nd night) to progress further. 10/14 ulduar ayayay sad I've come to love all the people I am around now when I raid so I'm still deciding if I want to leave for a guild that raids more, or stay where I currently am.

Just happens to be horribly itemized with Mp5 @______@ Just explain the situation and leave. If their your friends they'll understand you leaving. Might be upset but friends aren't based on guild tag! I just left my guild of a year on Arthas and I'm still on speaking terms with just about everyone because they understood my situation. I used to raid 6-7 nights a week when there was content to be cleared then my friends convinced me to reroll on their realm just after my guild killed Illidan, like an idiot I did. I raided with them for 2-3 days before I said I couldn't do it. Just stay on the same server as them and join the top guild on the server, I doubt they would mind since it's not like you wouldn't be talking to them. It worked out well for me since I still got to chat to my friends and enjoy raiding without having to deal with the bads of the more casual guild.

Gquit at like 2am when no one was online and made a forum post. Never told anyone he had even applied to another guild. MUCH drama ensued. Realm forum drama as well, always good stuff. I think I remember he said "its just a game, and you're all just pixels" when he was quite good friends with quite a few people. "Friends" I should say. A lot of us put him on ignore and /spit on him whenever we saw him thereafter. Maybe we're spiteful, but if you're "friends" with the people in your guild you really just shouldn't do things like that. sad

I thought you found an amazing guild? eh. the people who weren't officers were nice but i didn't like raid times or their style of raiding. they did only 25 mans, and people who are undergeared and dumb and bad and late are taken over good players because officers like them better. oh, and girls always got raid priority because every single officer in the guild is a desperate 40 year old who thinks that giving girls raid spots will get them ******** that noise. 10 mans are better anyways, i just wish i could find a good 10-man group to have fun with.

I found it much better to leave quietly in the night and mail all my friends, instead. (mailed before, quit when i was finished which happened to be right before server downing) Nothing big happened and a few of my pals expressed interest in leaving the guild as well. Most of them, I'd say, stay for the environment and don't particularly care about raiding. I like raiding, however. :<
