Oathkeeper was exausted. His years were showing and he at first hated it. Well, not having youthful energy, that is. He was proud of how much he'd traveled and learned. All his herd was grown and able to cae for themselves, but as more recent times proved---he was still there to defend them. His hooves this time had taken him to a stranger place. A colder place. Normally Oathkeeper avoided the mountains, but he was nearing them this day. Cold wouldn't be good for his older bones. He figured he should turn tail. Exploring the mountains when he was younger was fun, but he hadn't found anything too interesting about them or around them before. There probably was, but the still spring chill of them would surely tire him more than he already was. So he turned away from them, and was about to head back home.

The clearing was only a place Keii used for peace, she had recently returned from her meeting with Alexander. Soon she would return home, by the river. Her little stomach yearned for grass and fruits. She drug her two toed hooves into the ground every time she stopped to feel the soft ground. As she bent over the grass, she stopped where the grass tickled her muzzle, her ears turned pin pointing a soft rustle of grass.
Her head shot up, she decided to head home, so quietly she started to walk toward the forest afar. Until she saw what was making the rustling, her head swiveled round to get a better view, she blinked and fixed her eyes on a white stallion, big, strong and tall. The kind of stallion that could easily tower over her and flatten her with a stamp of his hoof. Her ears turned back and her tail flattened against her body, hopefully he wasn't dangerous, she tried to creep away, still looking at him.

Oath too now heard rustling. He felt that strange feeling one gets when something is watching you. He turned tail, looking around. If it was dangerous, he wanted to appear alert rather than run down. Something in the near distance was sneaking away. It appeared to be a mare. He'd never seen anything quite like her. Another new race to meet, that excited him. "Hello there? Have I startled you?" he called to her. If she didn't want to talk, or was shy, he'd leave her be. But he hoped she was up for chatter.

Keii got some distance, and then he noticed her, she turned toward him, usually she never left a question unanswered, she didn't want to appear to be rude,"Hello sir",she said softly trying not to let her voice quiver with nervousness,"No it's fine, you didn't startle me at all",she lied. "My name is Keii and who might you be?" Keii let her curiosity get a hold of her, but she never gave out her full name to strangers, only people who got close to her knew her full name.

(This is post a battle w/ a skinwalker, so he's got scars---even though they're not on his certed picture)
Oathkeeper smiled. At least he hadn't scared her off. His heart sunk a little as he said that though. He was nearing her subconciously and realized that instead his scars might put her off. It had been awhile since that gruesome battle with the cursed former member of his group, but the scars still looked a bit fleshy. The Angeni Idrenniel had done wonders on how bad they could have turned out though. He heaved a sigh to himself, but kept his friendly repose. "Why hello there Keii. That's a cute name" he replied to the mare. She was much younger, so he hoped the term 'cute' wouldn't offend her. "I am Oathkeeper" he replied calmly. He had wanted to ask what kind of Soquili she was, but decided to wait for a more appropriate moment post introductions.

((I probably could tell anyway. But thanks for the heads up. ;D)) Keii was unsure of the context in which he used to term 'cute'. She wondered weather it was a compliment or if he was being sarcastic. Compliments she never took well, not understanding why people said such nice things to her. But insults she could handle best, or so she thought. She looked down at her hooves then back up to Oathkeeper, when she herd his name this interested her greatly,"Oathkeeper, a very nice name indeed, may I say, it's a great pleasure meeting you."
'Seems cleaver enough. His name, I wonder if he lives up to it?' Keii was a nice girl, especially, if you were cleaver or wise. Any other kind of soquili found it hard to get her attention, unless they were threatening, which wouldn't get the right attention at all.

What a polite youth Oath smiled to himself. "Thank you, same can be said on my behalf" he replied sauvely. "You look really unique, I might say. Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what species are you? I can tell you look like you bode well in colder mountain climates, such as this area I've wandered into" Oathkeeper began again, careful to be as polite as possible.

((Sorry she always has alot to say for herself, every time it comes to questions on the cerynei..i'm so sorry. xD))
When Oathkeeper asked Keii about her species, she looked into his ice colored eyes, Keii's eyes were the type, were you could se through her, into her soul, read her thoughts and feelings, but as a result they will bore into you and burn, until you have to look away. She tilted her head slightly, the repositioned it straight again,"Thank you. I do not believe you lack much knowledge, you look very cleaver and wise sir",keii took a small breath,"I'd be glad to tell you about the Cerynei species of soquili."
She let out a little shy giggle,"well, as you can see",she waggled her tail,"we are soquili who have acquired the characteristics, and physical appearance very close to deer. Our bigger ears, help us listen to our surroundings, like danger for instance, we are built to run away from danger, our small agile frames, our tail also helps, it doesn't whip around or get caught when we run", she looked quickly down to her hooves,"and these are good for soft ground, or rubbly landscapes. All Cerynei have pelts of every colour of the rainbow, like other species of soquili. I am made for the mountains, and cold winter lands. I'm not as camouflaged, but my white coat can deflect the suns infra red rays of heat, and I can be kept cool. "
'Alot of information to digest.'
She paused,"I'm sorry I seem to be babbling. I shall continue anyway. The Cerynei did originate from these lands, before we even came into existence. Soon the moved onto another huge forest, it was lush and green so I herd, but the problem was frequent fires. This is what made our community stick together strong, we had to to live, but recently the biggest fire of all hit us, I was still in my basket at the time, so I don't know who saved me. The Cerynei moved back to these lands recently, and there aren't as many problems here, so the community has split." She eyed his turquoise lilac and yellow mane.
"Many stare at us like freaks , and that is why many of us stay Cerynei exclusive. But when I was younger, I didn't understand that, now I am older I have just grown up with funny looks. They won't stop for a long time, and I wish to tell other soquili not to be afraid or treat us differently."
Keii shuffled her hooves a little. 'It hurts when people stare...'
"I'd rather them ask than stare. And I am glad you asked Oathkeeper."

((I'm wondering if I need my eyes checked. I can't read that font size very well. Can you please use standard size text? crying *worries about her eyes now*))
"Staring can be offencive, yes. I get that at times" he replied, narrowing his eyes and smiling, "Especially about my colorfulness." He'd noticed her eyeing the multicolored braids previously and chuckled. "In my age, you learn to shrug it off. Curiousity is in the nature of every creature. And perhaps, some aren't staring to be rude, but rather at-a-distance curious as to your unique looks" he continued, "Some may be to shy to ask." He was nodding to himself nod and grinning broadly. "Sometimes I wonder if I might be to straight foward" he laughed, "But so long as it doesn't offend anyone, I'm glad I am. I enjoy learned. After all, knowledge is the one thing that never ends. One can grow old and die and never have learned everything."
It was a helpful and exellent heap of knowledge he'd just obtained for asking the Cerynei Keii about herself and her kind. Now he knew one more of life's magnificent creations. "A deer Soquili" Oathkeeper finally replied, "That is a wonder. Thank you Keii for your patience in explaining all that to an ever learning old gentleman like myself." He was positively beaming about it all too. "I think the Ceyrnei breed sound amazing. Bet agility is a prime attribute in keeping away from Skinwalkers. I could use some of that" he laughed, quickly eyeing the scars on this thigh. "Or could have." sweatdrop He decided to end with that. He didn't know whether she'd be bold enough to questing said scars, but either way he didn't mind. He hadn't intentionally tried to draw attention to them either, he was just cracking a joke about the usefullness of being half deer.

((I'm sorry. Yeh sure. ^_^)) Keii backed away,"sorry..I didn't mean too." 'I like colourfulness.' Keii listed to his words taking each into consideration,"I'd hate to die, unknowing and naive."
She nodded,"indeed, Sorry I did drag on a bit, I'm glad to meet someone who isn't set in their way and also lie to learn, no matter how old they get." She beamed, and nodded,"it does help, I best most would, if only being a skinwalker came with the consequence of being slow",she laughed, she didn't notice the scars on his thigh until he indicated,"oh Mr.Oathkeeper, may I ask what happened to you? I understand if you'd rather not discuss it." She stepped forward, her face sad, and glanced at them,"If I was older, I could've done well with unicorn powers",she coughed.

Oathkeeper smiled, his braids tickling the side of his eyes. "Heh---just that. A skinwalker. Long story made short, I got a bit...scuffed up protecting my herd and two-legger from an old female acquiantance whom got cursed. No laughing matter really, but I thank the Great Spirits above I lived through it. I might not have if it weren't for the Angeni, Idrenniel. Idren saved me and my herd when all seemed lost. She sent the Skinwalker fleeing and did the best she could to heal my wounds. It bothers me that the Skinwalker mare I once knew is still out there...able to harm..." he trailed off.
"Anyhow, thanks for the compliment!" he added cheerily. "We are never done 'learning.' When we meet the end, we can only hope to be happy with as much knowledge as we could obtain...as we never will have obtained it all by then. It makes me happy to see a young mare so wise and enthuastic about knowledge."

She listened,"oh." She saw he thought seriously of it but tries to act light on it.
"No problem, only telling the truth',she nodded,"Age doesn't matter to me at all. Knowledge does, without a little bit of knowledge we'd be dead, most likely of starvation and killed off by skinwalkers. I'm glad I have made you happy in this way, it really is nice to know. The ignorant, arrogant and naive soquili I meet, either I don't bother, or I try and convince them to use their brains, and not get by on their looks. I feel sorry for those people, it sounds arrogant of me, but they have perfectly good working brains."

"I too have been around those types. Some, it hurts to say, aren't worth one's time. You see, in order to truly change, that Soquili has to first want to change. I could talk to you trying to convince you to become something you currently are not, nor intend to become til the buffalo roam home...and it wouldn't do much unless you too intended it too" Oathkeeper smiled, "Sometimes, there are those who have to learn for themselves. Sometimes...some never will. And it is sad indeed. I help as many as I can, but even I know---there are some minds or hearts we cannot change."
Again he smiled, almost as childishly as in his younger days. "But you've got your head on straight it seems. Not much I think I need to help drill in there" Oath teased. "Unless of coarse there's something under the covers I'm missing?"

Keii listened and nodded to the wise words,"mhm, true true."
"That's right for sure. If you thought the opposite I would be quite offended",kei giggled,"my head need no drilling. Just wish other peoples head could be drilled and be willing to learn about new breeds, I see many are nice to mutants, scary or not and when they look at me, they shoot off."

"I wish many heads could be drilled with common sense aside from breeds, kindess, respect, ect. You'd be surprised how many lack the basics out there" he laughed. Sadly, he's seen his fair share of those types too. "I can only pity them and wish them well. Sometimes, as I said, there are soquili who will remain unmoved by words and even advice. Sometimes we must come to our own conclusions or walk the road to have the experiance, and then we'll know better afterwards." Oathkeeper shook some frazzled braids from his face. "I think it's better to keep an open mind, to learn and to always reflect on one's self" he added. "But enough of my old gentleman rants" he chuckled again, "You are young. Surely there is a fun activity you enjoy that you could share with me? I may be seeing my years. But one is also never to old to have fun" he smirked.
