It was about 1500 years ago when it all began, or should we say when it ended. Muranthia was once a great nation in relatively peaceful times. There were some issues here and there with other nations, but being on a small continent all of its own, it was a bit isolated from the rest of the world. And it still is.

The king at the time, King Tev was loved by all. And he did what he could to ensure that Muranthia remained strong. When something started to threaten his land, he tried to think of the best way to tackle the situation, and what he decided on, usually turned out for the best. But all good things must come to an end as some say. One year, there were a number of rumors, speaking of some sort of invasion to come. And not long after these began, King Tev fell victim to assassination.

The moment he fell from the throne, chaos began to ensue. No one quite knew who did the killing, but it mattered not much as enemies flooded the country to take it over. His two children, Kurtyr and Akarmen, tried to cooperate in some sort of way so that they could drive away these invaders. They never could really come to any conclusion. So they split, to try and fix the country in their own ways.

Kurtyr gathered up people and their Kulgenki to try and take down their enemies from the inside. They infiltrated the ranks and sabotaged what they could. Akarmen, on the other hand, went to battle the invaders upfront, also attempting to negotiate with them from time to time. With the efforts of the siblings, whether they worked together or not, the invaders were eventually pushed out of the nation.

But things weren’t quite settled yet. Muranthia was still in despair, having lost their great king. Many towns and villages were razed, and countless souls were forever gone. Anarchy was on the rise, and someone was going to need to take control of things soon before the land went completely to hell. The siblings both strove to run the land on their own, and squabbled over who should take the throne. Both felt that their efforts to get rid of the invaders were stronger than the other, thus both felt that they had more of a right to lead the land.

As a result, they split the land, and war broke out once again. Only this time, it was amongst themselves.

In all the time that has passed, many things have changed. Yet at the same time, some things never did. Kurtyr and Akarmen still battle against one another. Cities rose up in their names, and continued to wage the war. Times of peace happen now and then, but this not so civil war still rages on to the point where… people aren’t quite so sure why they’re fighting any more. Some say that Kurtyrins and Akarmenians have different ideals of how Muranthia should be run. Others just can’t get past the hatred of the other side that they’ve grown to learn.

And others, still, are sick of it all. An elf by the name of Nakadrak, was the first to rebel against both sides several hundred years after the war began. People question her motives, as she began to attempt to sabotage the ranks on both sides, thinking she might have something aside from peace in mind. Some say it was out of spite, as she had been done wrong by both Kurtyrins and Akarmenians. But no matter the true motives of her actions, she soon was able to have people to follow her, bringing about a third side to the war.

The three original leaders are now long dead. But war rages on.
