Hey guys. I just joined a new guild, Twilight haters united. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/?guild_id=164423But then I relaised, some of you might prefer the Twilight lovers guild. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/?guild_id=92999So pick a side. I'm representing all the Twilight haters out there when I say I was in danger of bashing my head in and clawing out my eyes with a fork to make the fluffy stupidity just end. It is a badly written, 2-Dimensional puff and glitter piece about the most sappy vampires in existence. I had to read it for school and it was AGONIZING. There's a whole chapter just about the guys who ask Bella to the Prom! Seriously!!!! Allt he actual Vampire stuff is in, like, the last chapter and it's not even well paced or set- up. I HATE TWILIGHT. How about you?

Fact, Stephanie Meyer is a Mormon. [REDACTED BY LORD NEUF]. Fact, I posthumously dedicated her great-grandpa to Satan. Wait. . . that last one's just a revenge fantasy.

AHEM! Awkward, this is a place to be questionably respectful for other's opinions. Not religions.

Alright, I'll play a bit nicer. Meyer's vampires sparkle. That's a sign that they need to shower, if you ask me. She throws at least one adjective in every sentence. That's the best way to make your reader wonder what the hell you're saying.
At one point, she calls Edward "vegetarian", but it turns out that Edward lives on animal blood. I'm a strict and devoted vegetarian, so I can say on good authority that animals would be out. A vegetarian vampire would live on tomato sauce or something. Coconut milk, if you want to be more scientific. That's very similar to blood plasma.
She uses her female lead as a vehicle to express the perfection of the male lead ad nauseum. The male lead, however, is controlling and shows all the signs of an abusive boyfriend. Maybe this shows why the same parents who burned Harry Potter books on a bonfire let their kids read the Twilight books. The drinking of blood -- and Edward's refusal to drink Bella's blood -- has been observed as an abstinence metaphor. So, would drinking animal blood be a bestiality metaphor~?

NOW we're on the same page. I hate how her characters are so unrealistic; Bella is described at one point as being uncoordinated, therefore she has to fall down and injusre herself at least once in every chapter. Edward is supposed to be powerful and distant so he is at all times. Real people don't cling to archetypes that heavily.

Try having friends that are fangirls. You want to hate them, but you can't. And you end up going to the cinema with them to see it... ... Where you fall asleep... ... Twice.

From a female perspective, I too find it sexist and annoying.
