The longer he spent with Sara, the more he wanted her to engage and not be a lifeless puppet. The novelty of manipulating her actions seem to be wearing off, or at least that's what he tried convince himself it was. In reality, the words of that pink haired boy (he didn't care to reference him by name, even if he knew what it was) stuck in his head. She was the only guardian he was ever going to get, at least that's what was more likely. He'd seemed to have met scents who hadn't been as fortunate, but he doubted that Sara was going to bail him or have anything bad happen to her.
Nobody will ever love you as much as your mom does. Nobody. And maybe that was true. But he didn't seem to be feeling the same endearment that she had shown him before. Did his power perhaps have a long term effect? No matter. He could just as well motivate her to love him as he could to not.
And with that, he'd coaxed her into taking him to an amusement park. He firmly grasped her hand, dragging her to a game stand - darts. His eyes glazed over at the various plushies, and pointed at a teddy bear. A bright yellow one, that had various patches on it. She gave a small smile and extracted the necesary change to buy a couple darts. She eyed Seph and his single arm, and bit her lip.
It annoyed him to be looked at like that, it took all his restraint not to force her to let him do it. But he managed not to.
She took the dart in her hand, and flung it at the balloon with so-so precision. It missed. She gave a huff, trying the next. It missed once more. And in her hand she held the last dart.

Maira had been taken out for the day by Jess in celebration for her unexpected growth spurt. The lunatic girl had changed into semi-normal clothes for the occasion - hand-me-down jeans shredded at the knee and one of Jess's own t-shirts - though her shoes had mysteriously been lost in transit.
"I want to ride the rolly-coaster and the fairy wheel and that big thing with the wood horses that goes around in a really really big circle and I like circles, Jess, I really REALLY like them 'cause they're round and they don't have endings or beginnings they just are," Maira bubbled as she gnawed her way through a giant cloud of lividly pink cotton candy.
"I think you meant ferris wheel on that second one, dollface," Jess said patiently, holding Maira's hand when the teenager tried to scuttle away from her to the game booths.
"Jess, Jess, wait," Maira said, eyes gone wider than usual. "Can I play a game? I'm good at games, except for things where you have to win because I never do but that's alright it's like a circle, I don't win because...because..."
Maira trailed off, thinking hard.
"I forgot what I was talking about."
Jessabelle laughed out loud and allowed Maira to drag her towards the dart-game stand.
Forgetting her words from not thirty seconds prior, Maira tilted her head owlishly as she watched the two people ahead of them playing the game. She poked the one-armed boy hard in the shoulder, bending close to him and holding out her cotton candy.
"It tastes like sugar-dreams," she said, very seriously.

Sara gave a nervous laugh, as if missing all those times weren't a big deal. Seph, on the other hand, grew more entranced into winning the valueless plush then before. Winning, victory, equaled superiority. For her to lose would shed light on him badly, by association. His eyes focused on the bullseye, and then darted his eyes over to her as she aimed. And...!
His concentration was then broken by a voice beside him, that seemed to be leering rather close. The figure had also seen the need to jab him in the shoulder. He looked over at the strange girl - she was nothing like he had ever seen before. He looked at the fluffy, cloud-like substance she was holding - right in front of his face. He gave her an odd look, wondering how to respond. Hrn. "An astute observation." He said in a very academic voice.
He glanced over at Sara, who was carefully aiming and finally she snapped her arm and let the dart fly... and it still landed outside of the margin. He gave a disgruntled look for a moment in dissapointment but then turned his attention back to the strange girl.

"You can have some," Maira said, echoing Seph's tone. "It is very good but it will make your teeth sticky and maybe fall out but that is alright since you're a little, and littles grow things after they lose them."
She paused, seeming to look around on the ground for Seph's missing arm.
"Except maybe that," she said frankly. Jessabelle beside her gave an embarrassed sigh and tugged the teen away from the poor boy.
"Sorry," she said, to Seph and Sara both. "Maira doesn't get that sometimes you're not supposed to say everything that's on your mind."
"Wasn't on my mind," Maira said sulkily, twisting out of Jess's grip like an angry kitten. "Came out of my mouth."

Seph arched his eyebrow at the strange manner of speaking of this... very strange girl. He felt offended, as if he was being talked to like a toddle. At the mention of the word little, that seemed to be the case. His blood boiled at the mention of his arm, even more offended that she had been staring at the ground for apparently no reason at all.
But he'd been through this situation already, and calmed himself down at the apology of her guardian. Though Maira's further reaction didn't help much. "Yes. Of course." He said cooly, wondering what he could say to... her.
"Ah... what are you?" He said in the kindest of tones. He didn't want to mention the word 'scent' unless she brought up a similar one, since he wasn't going to divulge he was some freak.
