Color. So much... color.

It was a feat of feats, slipping away from her watchdog of a father and equally sharp eyed mother as the sun faded behind the horizon in a blast of pastels and beauty. Of course, the faithful ferret was perched like the perfect scout he was on her back as she made her way carefully through the fading lights and growing shade of the forest. But the idea of being out as the night came on. Basically alone. Was an impossible concept to the filly, something that made her giggle and giddy as if she'd been ingesting sweet grass all day.

No though - all she'd done was escape into the twilight and didn't have a large, angry war horse at her heels nudging her back home. Not to say her father wasn't a good father... she just didn't appreciate the overprotective nature.

"Your da'll have it easy, findin' ya in this comin' moon," Kione said suddenly, making Edana jump before glaring over her shoulder at the ferret. She seriously had to wonder if he could read minds sometimes. "It's full t'night," was the continued explenation when she didn't respond.

Amber eyes flicked up, noting in the east an orb hung pale in the sky, brightening with each passing moment as the sun left the world. He was right - it was full. "More light to explore by," she stated simply, ignoring the fact her father could use it to find her light colored self in the dark all the easier. Even her sister was a darker tone than her. Edan huffed, pouting as she drifted towards a clearing where she could get a better view of the sunset. Sometimes, she really hated being one of the palest creatures she knew.

On the other hand, it wasn't difficult for the colt to sneak away from his mother's eyes; he had already gotten used to the fact that it was likely that she didn't want him, nor his sisters. She cared, he knew she did. He supposed it was just a bit... hard, for her. Nevertheless, he seemed like it as a bit of a duty of his already to watch over both his sisters and his mother. He was the only man in the family, after all.

He thought about his father often. He figured that Odyssey--dark pelted-- looked the most like him, nothing, unlike himself, like their mother.

It was nights like these that Jeremiel wandered the most, refreshed among the night sky and the full moon and the spray of colors the last light of the day gave.

The colt enjoyed the silence. He didn't mind not having company, not having someone to talk to. He'd rather be alone than bothered by ones whose company would be more of a nuisance than anything good.

Jeremiel stood in a clearing, his eyes tracing the contours the setting sun gave against the horizon in the distance. His wings fluttered at his side, a gleaming and glittering silver, and his body seemed to glow against the shadows the last bursts of daylight gave.

"H'll be cross~"

"I don't care."

"Ye'r' mum will be cross~"

"I don't care."

"Ye'r' sis will be cross~"

Now the filly paused, looking back at the smirking shadow with an expression of boredom. "You'll be doing this all night, won't you?"

"Most likely."

She sighed, shaking her head before giving a quick shrug, her mood quickly plummeting at the bluntly stated truths. In all honesty, she really did care if her family was cross. Not as much as her elder sister might, but though she liked causing problems for others, Edana had a strong moral code already to say causing problems for family was a big "no no."

But silence over took her instead of arguing, taking the last steps needed before she could see into the red-tinted clearing as the sun took its final breaths. And her brow shot up, a frown on her muzzle. There was already someone here..? Her sharp eyes took in the sight carefully, warily, nothing the small stature and bright... shinny coloring. And wings. That peeked her interest even more so. This one had wings and was shinny.

Well this just might be a fun little evening after all ~

"You look like a moonbeam," she called out lightly, taking easy steps out of the growing shade of the forest and into the last light of the sun, increasing light of the moon as the silver lady took dominance in the sky. "All pale and glowing like that. Guess that makes sense, with your wings and all." How many times had her mother and grandfather -well, more like adoptive grandfather, since the old black stallion really had no blood relation to her- told her of stories in how butterflies were messengers of the stars and moon? Looking at this stranger here with even stranger butterfly wings... she had to wonder the truth behind it.

Jeremiel's eyes flitted shut, a faint smile falling onto his face. He heard the voice but, for a moment, he made no move to reply. Someone had interrupted his oh-so-cherished moment of silence. What a shame. Though a gentleman never complained. Instead, the young colt took a breath, his wings fluttering and ears twitching.

"My mother, a gem of the moon. My father, a butterfly wanderer of this twilight hour. Fitting, I suppose, hm?"
He turned to face her, his steps smooth and graceful as his mothers, but strong and bold like hers could never be. His, instead, would be the strength for her. She seemed to be the same age as he, if not a bit older. It wasn't often he met those his age wandering at this time of night.

"Good evening,"
he called gently, making his way towards her. His coat seemed to shimmer as the moonlight fell against his back. "What brings you all the way out here, at this time of night? I'm sure someone out there must be worried for you?" He wasn't really one to talk, though. His eyes fell against the filly, then the ferret. "My name is Jeremiel." He nodded his head gently towards them both, wings pinned at his back.

"You do them a justice then," was her simple commentary to his heritage, tail flicking in a forming subconscious habit as her mind would split, part staying in the present, part to ponderings and schemings. "Or maybe it's just irony. Coincidence even, if you'd rather something again more positive." Kids were supposed to be both their mother and father, right? It sounded like he hit the fifty-fifty mark perfectly then, which she could only assume was good.

As he approached she held her head high and cocked ever so slightly to the side, a show of innocent curiosity and hospitality. Her eyes conveyed the other side of the coin however, nit-picking each muscle movement, each vague twitch and flutter and glimmer. To which, for the latter two, she found none. So clean-cut he seemed, even more so than her father, the knight himself! Of course, this was all slightly less important than the glimmering aspect to coat and wings, something she couldn't dare deny was highly distracting.

She didn't miss a beat though in the conversation despite all her thoughts, giving a disinterested shrug to his inquiry. "I've parents and a sister, but I'll be back before they know I've gone. Besides," she added with a scowling smile to Kione, "my shadow can be quick enough to slip back to them if I can't." Her gaze flickered back to the glowing colt, tail giving another twitch. "What's your story though? I don't see an adult's prying eyes on you either, so you're not one to talk-"

"Nice t' meet ya, Jeremiel," the more manner conscious of the two cut in, giving a generous head bow of his own. Kione might have had the speech tendencies of one whom grew up in less favorable conditions, but Edana was rather horrific in social skills despite the best attempts of her mother and father. Not that either of them could claim a good track record in socializing, though. "I go by Kione, this one Edana."

The filly winced at the stuffy name. "Ed," she instead corrected, redirecting the conversation to an earlier point. "And I'm out here to get some time away from my family, do some exploring they wouldn't let me do before. World's a lot different at night, ya know." Now it was Kione's turn to wince, disliking how she was beginning to pick up on his horrible speech patterns.
